Mary Stuart's Phantom Pregnancy Is Real

In 1559 Mary, Queen of Scots and France, underwent a phantom pregnancy much as her cousin in England had done in 1555 (and some said in 1558 too). Naturally, this was probably as a result of the extreme pressure to produce an heir. But what if she were to actually be pregnant, with a posthumous daughter?

Ok so, this posthumously born Princess of France (Let's call her Catherine) would probably be given some sort of courtesy title and land in France, due to being the eldest and only child of the previous King. Mary Stuart now has an heir for Scotland too, so that's good. If she decides to return to Scotland in this situation, I can see her having to fight to keep her daughter, perhaps resulting in a later journey home and slight dissolutionment with France. If everything goes OTL in Scotland and she has to escape, I can see her returning to France, especially if she thinks he can get her daughter a suitable husband as a French Princess there. From there I see her having the Bothwell marriage dissolved and remarrying someone of standing in France. She could then do the same for her child. Maybe her Guise family would send a small force to try and regain Scotland but ultimately she and her daughter would live out their lives in France.

What about Mary marrying Philip II.

The question is how does Princess Catherine get raised religiously - esp. after her mommy-dearest goes back to Scotland, and until a half-brother (and his heirs) is born she's a Catholic heiress presumptive to a Protestant throne.

That said, I wonder if her grandmother will rather marry HER to Henri of Navarre instead of Margot. Which might be more acceptable to the Scots' Protestants as well as the French Catholics.

If Henry of Navarre marries Mary Stuart, Henry of Navarre will be Geoffrey Plantagenet V2.

The Bourbons will be the New Plantagenets.

No, AFAIK, Catherine Stuart would only inherit in lieu of her mom having no other kids, and the general consensus seems to be she had at least one pregnancy by each husband (a phantom by François II, James VI by Darnleigh, and a miscarried twins (legally by Darnleigh, but most likely by Bothwell (theoretically why the rape story was cooked up, to hide the fact that she married Darnleigh's murderer when the body was barely cold))), so unless Mary is rendered barren by Catherine's birth, she wouldn't be heiress apparent to Mary. Also, given how Henri's OTL first marriage to a Valois played out, he and Catherine could have no children. Especially if Catherine inherits her father's health issues (although her aunt Claude was clubfooted, hunchbacked and several other things and she had buns in the oven like an overworked bakery).
