Margaret Tudor

WI: The French were first and she did not marry James of Scotland. Other marriage possibilities? (Margaret, the oldest daughter of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York). Possible later sucessors to the English throne, if the Tudor and Scottish lines fail to unite?

IIRC correctly other reason why Margaret was married to the Scotish King (besides an attempt to break the Auld Alliance) was to improve the Tudor's position as a noble house to the other European dynasties. So probably Henry VII would want as her husband a ruling monarch or his heir. One idea would be marry her to Ferdinand II of Aragon after his wife Isabella of Castile dies in 1504. Other option could be prince Christian of Denmark, heir of king John. It would be even more interesting if Christian is still deposed by the nobles as IOTL.

The Scots marriage was first mooted in 1486 before James accession except the offered bride was Margaret's aunt Cecily of York (Henry was also offering the widowed James III his mother in law Elizabeth Woodville) - the death of James III prevented any firm deal.
James IV supported Perkin Warbeck in 1496 either out of belief in him or more likely a general anti english stance - he realised the need to make peace with England though and that lead to the treaty of perpetual peace and the marriage contract with Margaret Tudor in 1502.

The deal with the Scots wasn't as much as establishing the Tudor dynasty as securring a deal with the Scots. The Spanish marriage gave Henry much more credit and was formalised in 1499.
