Margaret Beaufort is born male

Let's say that Margaret Beaufort is born male and named John* Beaufort while his father John Beaufort 1st Duke of Somerset still dies on schedule in 1444.

In the OTL, the title Duke of Somerset was entailed to the male line and passed to her uncle Edmund Beaufort, but Margaret inherited the majority of the estates and thus became one of the wealthiest heiresses in England. Edmund Beaufort received one of the most prestigious titles in England but a paltry annual income of 300 pounds, by contrast his rival the Duke of York had an annual income of 5,800 pounds. HVI tried to compensate Edmund Beaufort with offices worth an annual income of 3,000 pounds much to the irritation of nobles like the Duke of York. Edmund Beaufort replaced the Duke of York as commander of France in 1448 and by 1450 nearly all of the English possessions in Northern France were lost. Perhaps Edmund Beaufort continued to be paid by the crown who nearly owed the Duke of York 40,000 pounds. Despite his massive military failures in France, by 1451 most of the power and influence over HVI lay with Edmund Beaufort while parties like York were marginalized. But when HVI had his breakdown York became Protector and Beaufort was subsequently jailed in the Tower.

So if the Somerset title and estates are kept together and pass to John* Beaufort, does Edmund Beaufort still have the stature to be given these offices and do HVI and Margaret of Anjou still continue to rely on him to govern? What happens to English possessions in France? Are the War of the Roses delayed by a few years or might this even butterfly them away?

Henry VI is still going to rely on the Beauforts and the Tudors to balance the power of the Yorkists but I suspect Edmund Beaufort will receive less Royal favours though he would probably get a title and might get the warship of his nephew.

And if Henry still relies on Edmund, York is still going to resent him getting what he feels entitled to.

Presumably both Edmund and John* might end up marrying into the Neville or York lines? Maybe Anne Beauchamp (eventual heiress of Warwick) or Anne Holland (granddaughter of Elizabeth of Lancaster, cousin of Henry VI) if not one of York's elder daughters?

John Beaufort* might have a pretty interesting life. He'd be roughly the same age as the OTL EIV. And if the legitimate male line of Lancaster dies out, aka Henry VI and Edward of Lancaster, he might find himself leading the head of the House of Lancaster and unlike his OTL counterparts (the sons of Edmund Beaufort) have the Somerset fortunate behind him. I wonder if the House of York took the throne, and really screwed up, if some might see John* Beaufort as an alternate.

I think the "eventual" heiress Anne Beauchamp might be a bit too old for John* Beaufort as she's about 17 years older. In the OTL, Anne Beauchamp inherited her title and fortune from her niece (also named Anne Beauchamp dob 1443). The other Anne Beauchamp, the niece that is, is the same age as John Beaufort*. I could see those two being matched together and if she lives longer than the 5 years she lived, John Beaufort might get that fortune too.

Or Warwick's older daughter, is Isabella Neville is another option. She's only about 8 years younger than John* Beaufort. I'd like to see how Warwick might handle himself if there was another Lancastrian heir with a fortunate.

Out of the daughters of Richard Duke of York, Margaret of York is nearly John* Beaufort's age too.
