Maps We'd Like to See: in general, or by specific people

Just a thread for generating ideas, and also perhaps to express appreciation for some interesting maps in the past.

For instance, I'd like to see Atom make maps of South America and Africa from his MegaRussia/Napoleonic Russia world, since the non-Commie bits of them are a bit unclear. Heck, any new world maps from Atom would be welcome, given his level of creativity in the past. And Nugax - the Cavorite series remains quite cool, (are you planning to publish?) but I'd really like to see some of the wide-ranging imagination and fine design that gave us maps like "The Infante Survives" and "Song China industrializes", not to mention "Blue Star rising" turned back to earth for a bit. And we haven't seen anything new from NikoZnate on the map thread in two months... :(

More generally, I'd like to see more world maps for distant (pre-1700, let's say) PODs. Highly Alternate Russias: there should be more of them. And where are our ancient Israel-wanks? :D

best,
Bruce

I was planning a "Persia wins the Greco-Persian Wars" timeline but I don't have the time for that. I might as well throw that idea out there.

And I still would like to see the The Inestimable Munro take on Poul Anderson's In the House of Sorrows... or anyone else, for that matter. (Or maybe I'll get around to it one of these days?)

Id like to see a munro take on Agent of Byzantium, maybe taken forward a few centuries... seriously, I've even tried making my own, but I'm just no good at it.

I'd like to see that - I actually started such a map a whiles back, but just couldn't make it look good, somehow.

I'd like to see the world of Deus Ex, or perhaps - more obscure and loose with great creative freedom - the world of The Sheep Look Up.

More preferable, Jack London's The Iron Heel - with some liberties taken - would be enjoyable to see cartographised.

Are we talking Buddhist missionaries in the court of Vladimir I? The historical knock-on effects would be interesting, to say the least...

Bruce
Yup. I ran with it for a shared worlds game, and it was a blast. But a proper map could better point out historical knock-on effcts.

Perhaps I'll add it to my to-do list, then...

I would kill for a map of a Buddhist Russia.

Oddly enough, I seem to recall that In the House of Sorrows includes one, as one of the Great Powers in a world without Abrahamic religions... so your wish may be granted, albeit not in the manner you might have expected!

A realistic, non-wanked, Byzantine Empire. Preferably steampunk (maybe with rail lines and industrialized areas marked out?) I've tried doing it myself, but I'm no good at map-making.

Wow, thanks. I've actually been thinking of re-working that world, particularly the Americas (I really want me some Russian Apaches) now that I've got a DA account. Focusing more on the MegaRussia/Socialist Napoleonic parts. I realized that I've set it up really well for a massive global conflict which I kind of want to explore. Because y'know, WWII wasn't nearly globally awful enough for me. (Also I would like to draw a map of the war in Antarctica. It's very very small and very epic.).

I'd really really like to see maps of Africa. Anything about Africa, particularly an Africa as dominated by a syncretic Arab/indian state based on the East Coast. Or a map of the Great Lakes region, focusing on a stronger Burundi or some such. That was something I found really interesting in EdT's Chruchill TL.
