This is about 775CE by our reckoning.
It follows on from the 3rd Punic War map.

Carthage turned away from the European lands to concentrate on the Arabian revolt of the mid-late 600’s. Based upon the writing about an obscure prophet from Judea, that many say is an imitation of the Roman God, Mithras, having many similarities, a new Prophet, bin Abdullah, united the Arabs under the new Jesumite faith. The converts erupted from Arabia, over-running Syria and Egypt but failing to inspire their new subjects to join their crusade. Unwilling to pursue aggression against the Sassanian and Roman Empires, border lands were ceded to them allowing the Jesumite State to concentrate on the west, advancing along the northern coast of Libya, capturing Tripoli before being defeated three times, including the loss of an entire army at Misrata where the son of the Prophet was killed.

The Jesumite State suffered a short Succession War during which Carthage nearly re-gained Egypt before suffering further revolts in Northern Iberia and Sicily, supported by the main fleet.
Lack of shipping meant that reinforcements were unable to reach Sicily although a trickle of troops made the crossing at the Pillars before being blockaded. Despite a massive shipbuilding effort, Carthage was never able to match the Rebels’ Fleet level.

Carthage was forced to conclude disadvantageous peace treaties. Egypt was Ceded to the Jesumites, Northern Iberia became an independent Euskal with a mixed Basque-Occitan population. To achieve complete peace, a treaty was signed with the Wolof rebels of Western Libya where they had been de facto independent for two centuries despite constant skirmishing.

Cut off from trade with the East and having lost the grain producing areas of Egypt and Sicily, Carthage looked for another route to the spice trade. Although discovering proto-nations at the mouth of a great river in Southern Libya they were unable to carry supplies enough to allow them to the known ports of the South-eastern Libyan continent.

Some ships were blown off course, reporting gold rich lands to the West, Carthage have colonized some areas and the extra gold is useful to purchase spices.

The Zoroastrian Sassanian Empire was shattered by defeats at the hands of Tang forces in Transoxiana but they have returned to China to deal with the usurpation of the Tang throne by the mother of the Emperor. The Jesumites have seized the islands in the strait of Hormuz, hoping to re-direct trade to it’s ports. If the Tang get their act together and send a fleet to the Gulf they may be in for a surprise.

The Tartessian remnant of Carthage's Iberian provinces gained independence peacefully in exchange for advantageous trade agreements over Tin. They have moved the Capital to Gades as dredging the Tartessian Gulf to ensure sea access to Tartessos had become too expensive.

Elsewhere in Europe;

The Duchy of Saxony, having expelled the Danish tribes from Jutland are now, allied with the new Wendish settlers to the East, resisting Avar raids along the coast.

Slavic peoples are migrating to escape the mounted Nomadic tribes along the Eastern Roman Empire.

From North to South; the Avars, Bulgars and Pechengs are being pressured by further tribes following behind.

The Western Roman Empire is no more, the Franks and Burgundians rule there now.

The Empire of Rome still exists but is just waiting for someone to come along and conquer it.

Sicily has conquered the Neapolitan State and maintains itself by raiding and piracy.

An alternative look for the Carthage world map

This is a cannon in my timeline. Please remember this is my first map and English isn’t my native tongue. Enjoy!

POD begins with a surviving golden horde that doesn’t plunge into succession crisis and is able to reform military. Timur does come but he aids one jochid contender in a civil war and sacks Muscovy and western part of the khanate, leaving the population centers mostly intact. Timur's campaign is mostly the same except there is no Ottoman campaign against sultan Beyazid but Constantinople survives due to Anatolian beyliks uprising following the brief Timurid incursion....yet again. An alt battle of Ankara occurs however between their princes and as usual, Timurids wipe the floor with Ottoman princes. Timur instead goes to China and barely defeats Yongle in a monumental battle but unable to advance much past OTL west Gansu due to Oirat rebellion. His death splits the empire in half with most of Xinjiang, Mongolia and Mwerennahar going to a surviving Muhammad Sultan while Persia going to Shahrukh. A strong muslim presence in Mongolia trickles down to further east, islamising the Jurchen.

Clashes between Jogalia of Poland( and Lithuania) and Vytautas of Novgorod ( he remained Orthodox) culminates in alliances comprising various parties like Muscovy, Teutonic order and Hungary. Novgorod is ultimately absorbed by Muscovy but they faced a powerful PLC with Transylvanian duchies following a Hungarian collapse similar to OTL mohacs after Tatar invasion( while also plagued by Hussite revolt), though Tatars had to return to Sarai due to their khan dying like always.....

Ottomans eventually capture Constantinople during 1421 in the wake of earthquake and tsunami, led by Mehmed I, leftover after other Ottoman princes were butchered against Timurids. Mehmed II eventually ascends and sets about being the Kaiser. Along with his vizier Iskandar, the sultan captures most of Balkans including Bosnia, annexes Mamlukes in guise of intervening in civil war and aids his childhood friend in capturing the throne of sarai, starting the cooperation between Golden horde and Ottomans. Their alliance would go a long way in determining Persian question when alternate Safavids convert to twelver shiism and rampage across eastern Anatolia and levant in wake of Timurid collapse. Poor sultan Cem had to abandon his Italian expansion after thrashing the Belgrade crusade, a belated version of Varna and leave Rome to the French (who immediately began clashing with HRE over custodianship of papacy) to deal with Safavids. Shaybanids unlike OTL are able to crush the Safavids due to Tatar support and use of gunpowder weapons. Well, if only Safavids weren’t forced to abandon their artillery in eastern Anatolia. Deteriorating situation in Persia pushes a lot of Tatar cavalry troops in Khurasan where they gather under the banner of a pashtun noble and Georgian mamluke who turn their eye to south, rich lands of Hind.

Iberia was a burning cauldron with Castille and Aragon butting heads and a Portuguese allied Nasrid Emirate. Portugal was a bit less inclined in exploration due to butterflying of illustrious generation since unlucky king John died of battle injury before his marriage to philippa of Lancaster. But wanton colonization of west African coast and eventually south Africa occured. This forced muslims of west Africa to look for alternative places, namely Kongola. One day in a Maghrebi slave raiding ship to Kongola got blown off course and stumble upon a new land. They named it Talentiya, after the famed Atlantis. Other powers eventually act upon the news and begin exploring the new lands. England under Yorkist line, Portugal and Burgundy( Queen Mary rides on, say no to sidesaddle) are the pioneers beside muslims of Maghreb . A Portuguese allied Wattasid sultanate was able to consolidate most of maghreb until Hafsid resurgence, who were themselves overthrown by a religious movement , Al Mutwahereen( Almotarid, the pure ones). All of Maghreb upto Tunisia and the small Andalusian leftover are consolidated by the Almotarids under blessing from Ottomans ( checked the growth of Portuguese allied rival caliphate) and Castile ( well, 'we screw Portugal team'). The royal dynasties and their supporters escaped to save themselves and ended up in Tahina( OTL Cuba and Caribbean archipelago). The other majority muslim population center was in Arkalango( Ard al kalinago, land of kalinago), OTL Colombia and Guyana. Islam eventually reaches the incas leading to more contact between the two cultures due to medical reasons and trade( old world disease still ravaged the mesoamerican population). Aztecs and Mayans were rather unlucky, with the former being crushed by an Iberian( Castile Portugal union, we hate Aragon team) and the latter by Al Jabarid dynasty of Tahina. But both campaigns failed to consolidate their claims leading to other native entities to stake their claim on the collapsed empires.

Insafiyya, an ideology that emphasised on human as God's best creation and his duties to God and creations ( including animals, plants and even inanimate objects!). The emphasis on good treatment to slaves and servants earned them popularity in Persia where the movement originated. Following Timurid collapse and rise of Safavids, the adherent scholars spread to lands both near and far. And the rest they say is history....

It is 1309 AH ( 1892 in Nazarene calender, used by muslims to conduct business with the people of books). It is somewhat an Islamic flavoured world but more in a cultural sense than actual dominant sense. The world is industrialized one with Robots taking dangerous human jobs in factories ( insafiyya made servants and workers costlier for employers, hence an earlier drive to industrialization and automation in muslim lands). The world is ahead of its time, roughly at the level of 1940s technology but other technological wonders persist such as massive airships that still remain the primary transport system for goods ( passengers are gradually shifting to airplanes). This world is a mix of dieselpunk and automaton punk.
The islamic world was briefly overshadowed by western resurgence in 18th century following Mediterranean crusades that kicked Ottomans out of Italy and the expansion of English successor state of Annahok gradually eating up the Chichimeca emirates. But soon a grand European war in early 19th century caused the European powers to withdraw from their colonies, giving the muslims respite.

In Asia, the Persian Qadhiate( A council of Qadhis, selected by Majlish E shura and approved by Grand Wali) reign supreme over the geopolitics. Their ally, Mustafavid Hindistan is still suffering from humiliation after being defeated by Bharat confederacy in the Gangetic war, a mishmash of Hindu kingdoms brought together after purge on indian culture and religion by the previous Hind Qadhiate on ground of being 'too backward'. But not all is well for the new Confederation either. They have been soundly defeated by Romania, a country for Romani people negotiated by world powers after their attempted genocide by the Intermarinum( PLC with prussia for sudetanland and Czachia for Austria) Federation in the global war of 1845 to 1863. But critics liked to point the clandestine Rumi support for Romania which leaves many to think it as a continuation of Ottoman presence in Hind after their colony in deccan went boom in Great war of 1804-1812. Most of the Continent is under Ulus Tatary who support a coalition of Anti China forces including Tibet and Manchu Kingdom ( last refuge of Uighur Hong dynasty after Chinese Han revolt and Tatar annexation of Moghulistan aka Xinjiang). Koreans are fearful of either Tatars or Chinese but they absolutely despise the Xipangese of Nippon who briefly colonised the southern part of their peninsula in 1600s. The said Xipangu engages in wanton colonization of island archipelagos in Lonshe ( turquoise, Chinese name for Pacific Ocean). Following Chengdai ( orange) revolution in China, muslims in Yunan were forced to migrate south in late 18th century and formed the Xinlau emirate in North Laos following collapse of Lan Fang kingdom due to Ayuthya invasion. Surrounded by Non muslim states, their resolve lies in the neighbouring Qadhiate of Pegu which has a history of Omani, Burgundian and English colonisation. Bengal Sultanate and Burma were the only states in subcontinent to be colonised by the English and Danes respectively , the other being Burgundian Lanka which was liberated by Vijaynagar in the global war, a hindu majority secular state with significant Muslim and Nazarene population. The empire of Viet is skeptical of Omani comeback to the region in the form of helping Cham emirate. Not trusting the Chinese either, they have formed alliance with Khmer Vizierate( don't be fooled, they're hindu). To the farthest corner lies Yakutia and Kamzatka, two states formed after the Global war following English withdrawal from Sibir. Tengrist Yakutia hates muslim Kamzatka, the latter allying with Tatars. Xipangu, despite being non muslim strangely supports Kamzatka as it is a legacy of Xipangese pirates who islamised after contact with Jurchens. Nusantara was mostly colonised by European powers or Oman, the only state remaining independent was Malacca which tended to play Europeans against each other and through a lot of Omani and Ottoman support. Sarwak emirate, a Burgundian colony is at odds with China following secession of large parts of Lupang( Philippines) with Hindu and Buddhist population under their support. The Confederation of Nusantara is a truly multi lingual multi cultural paradise rising from the wreckage of English empire. But not everyone was happy with arrangement,as shown by separation of Java under Omani influence after the Global war.

In middle east, everything under the sun belongs to Rum( Ottoman dynasty still rule though) but some of these gains are only 50 years old dating back to Blue revolution in Persia as unstable gulf emirates began descending into chaos which saw traditional rulers and nobles ousted and often violently massacred( ITTL version of French revolution). There is also Oman, a large colonial power of the olden days with colonies in Africa, Antarqtique, Hind and Nusantara, though now it is limited to Andaman archipelago and Ardalhamra( 'red soil' i.e. Arnhem land). Yemen is a newcomer, a zaidiya state rising out of Ottoman defeat in the Great war. They have complex relation with neighbouring States of Africa.

Of these states, Abyssinia is a rising power who wants her share in the trade traffic flowing through Bab el Mandeb strait which is monopolised by Somali emirate and Yemen. With good relation to the Ottomans, they also bite off a significant chunk of Mediterranean-red sea commerce through the not suez canal. South of ottoman Egypt are two vassal emirates of Darfur and Wadiya. The former was created after Bornu emirate was defeated by Ottomans following the collapse of Italian Tripolitania as Italy, anti Ottoman and a Bornu ally ended up on the losing side of the great War. Now Ottomans and Maghrebis jostle for influence in the nascent Vizierate. Maghrebis were able to regain some of their honour after losing Grenada to Espana in 1810 just before the Great war. They were able to wrest control of parts of Sicily during the Global war. A Tatar ally, Maghreb emirate hosts the largest Tatar army base outside Asia and the only one in Africa. To the south lies the Fulani confederacy, a jumble of post Kuwa emirate( Banu Hilal wank). They have largely modernised but are the poorest state in North Africa apart from the minor oasis emirates and sheikhdoms. To its south lies the Sahel Qadhiate, a secular power based on the unity of Mande people after the humiliation by Portuguese and English colonization and brief Fulani rule. Their islam is too different from most of the world that extreme mullahs in Konstantiniyye and Makkah denounce them as veiled polytheists. Most of Central Africa is under Kongola imamate, a Zaidiya shia state founded by Zaidiya refugees migrating into African wilderness following annexation of Yemen by Ottomans in late 16th century(Omani gained profit by ferrying them across). They have followed 3 things so far, Screw colonials, screw pagans and screw the Fulani( the latter mostly subdued by now to be a threat). They have established excellent detente with sunni Swahili sultanate of Zanja in driving out colonialists from Africa. Their eastern ally is even more successful in the endeavour, taking advantage of Mosambiq- Garuda war, eating up the former and driving out the Hindu state to the brink in a strange politics of Post global war chaos. The Hindu kingdom of Garuda was established by a Deccan noble family in exile after Ottoman conquest of Deccan in 17th century. The reason why black africans hate it so much is the subjugation and caste system. Slavery, which still exists in this world in form of temporary military slavery for captured war prisoners was not deemed race based due to powerful Muslim states. But the Hindus still linger on to a small part in mainland and the Madagasika island, overlooked by world powers who don’t care about this corner of Africa. For now they are safe as Zanja remains busy digesting its lightning conquest which saw the first use of Sarmun ( helicopter, a Persian invention)in Africa. To the extreme south lies the Zuterre state, a mix of French and Burgundian elites ruling over mostly Burgundian and black population, though another one is in thrown in the mix with the fall of English Angoland to Kongola influenced rebels after Global war. Kingdom of Zimbabwe is happily trading between two opposing sides with the knowledge that neither would want the country to completely fall into the other's clutch.

Europe is at peace after the Global war which saw rise of Intermarinum Federation under a polish dictatorship blaming non slavs and jews for the sorry state of economy during the post Great war recession. Their annexation of Prussia was largely overlooked along with the consensual union of Lithuania. But all hell broke loose when the Federation invaded Cossakia leading French and Tatar declaration of war. It was soon followed by Rusland, Germania, Hungary and Sweden while Intermarinum allies included England, Italy, Denmark, Czachia and Burgundy. It was the last straw and the final end of European overseas colonialism. Now Danes are unhappy as they have lost Holstein. But no one is more unhappy than France who were caught unprepared during an amphibious assault by Gregorland empire from England and had to leave Burgundy unscathed, the Italian lands being consolation prize. Poland and Lithuania were broken up once again with Tatar, Swedish and Rus troops capturing Krakow as Hungary was saved by Rum.

The continent of Talentiya has few states, one of them being Ewalqarud( named after howling monkeys) Qadhiate, a muslim state composed of blacks, Arabs, Berbers and a significant native population. It is a Tatar ally and a staunch supporter of Ghabalbad( Amazon forest) tribes against the encroaching Brasil empire, a successor of Portuguese colonization. The emirate of Kazka, inca empire successor is also worried about the large christian state but has enough ideological differences with its coreligionist neighbor to consider a military alliance. To the south, lies republic of Waltershire, an former English colony composed of mostly escaped and free black and Irish slaves, worried if the proxy war in murky river delta( translated from Ghamidunnahar, referring to Amazon river) spills out into a continent wide conflict. There is also the Emirate of Jadidya, the only true jewish homeland housing many jews from islamic world, but to mostly well off jews in muslim lands they are a weird bunch due to messianic view of their leaders. The accusation of unfair treatment of native and non jewish population also adds to their dark side. Currently they are involved in a political crisis over the impending conflict nearby and pondering whether to join as Ewalqarud or Kazka allies. A simple solution is to expand the small ottoman naval base, the only one of its kind in Talentiya. To the Tahina sea in north of Talentiya lies archipelago of Tahina, an emirate which successfully secularized and modernised to the extent of keeping the ever expanding Gregorland state at bay in OTL Florida. There are also Espanic, French and English former colonies in OTL central America.

The continent of Antarqtique is composed of many states, all former colonies . Ardalhamra is the remnant of the once vast colonial empire of Oman. It was mostly left due to other powers having no interest in it. The English colony in southwest Antarqtique gained independent as Dirau republic, a majority hindu state adhering to shaivism as a sort of pre aryan indic cultural reincarnation. It is a Tatary ally which puts it at odds with Varmtsted( hot place) former danish colony which expanded south but many arable lands are held by Dirau which is desired by the larger state. But it is not the prominent state in Antarqtique, so they can only grumble. Antipodia, a French remnant is set out to keep the balance of power in the little continent, though it doesn’t harm when they take lands from Maori republic, never colonised due to priorities elsewhere. The Maori are screaming 'colonization' at the post Great war annexation of their Northern lands. With Nippon getting closer however, there is slight discomfort in Nouville (OTL Melbourne). But fear not, the civilized francophones shall not fear some pesky Xipangese barbarians!

The continent of Monrovia( After James Monroe, an English cartographer) is full of contrast, from heavily mechanized states emphasizing in expansion to the simple native statelets who don’t bother others if left alone. The state of Gregorland is an example of the former. It is the single most powerful state in Monrovia. It is a mix of Germanic( Duh, Hanseatic league), Burgundian and English and recently French ( After conquest of French lake regions following French disaster in Great war). They wanted to have a coast to coast territory but recently discovery of oil in Kahudi (OTL Montana) has shifted their attention to the great plains of north. The native waliyets( a common term for small states) have no chance of surviving even with the backing of Kukpak khanate who is the largest and perhaps only muslim country in Monrovia ( barring Tahina and the small chichimeca emirate). Kukpak khanate is made up of Mongol, tatar, xipangese, Chinese, eskimos, Tinghit...... Mainly starting out as an alternative fur trading hub to the established one of Huoshandi( volcano lands), OTL southern Alaska which was a colony of Chinese Shan Dynasty following Ming collapse in early 1600s and closed fur trade as Uighurs and Manchus advanced south. Opposing Gregorland are two English successor states, Annahok ( OTL Mexican lands) and Hesperia( OTL California with mostly native populace ruled by European elite class, think of Brooke Kingdom of Sarwak). They have been able to protect the small states in Great basin to some extent as a buffer against Gregorland. But with the renewed direction north, the balance of power is in risk again. There is no telling if Hesperia will survive another assault from the powerful state as memory from the last war in 1820 still in fresh where a white peace was achieved by horrendous losses on the part of the alliance. The gamechanger for the expanding state was robotic self reloading rail-guns, a first example of robotics application in warfare. Gregorland also participated in European conflict during the global war, turning the tide by opening a new front in Normandy forcing quick French withdrawal from Burgundy, forcing the war to reach a stalemate and end in that condition the following year. But this has also roused interest of an old world behemoth, Ulus Tatary who conducted the war winner invasion of Intermarinum with Rusland and Cossakia after Magyar collapse forced Rum entry into the war. Tatary already has military base in Kukpak khanate so cross continent intervention is not out of question. But Gregorland too is not without allies, Solendgangen, a Danish colonial aspiration which became its own thing in late 18th century, looks greedily at Dominique of New France. The last war saw France surrendering a considerable amount of territory to the Gregorland and a notion of alliance is up in the air, though optimistic ones in Jernby (OTL Akluivik)are already drawing up partition maps for Dominique. But with the entry of Nova scotia into secular bloc led by Annahok, geopolitical situation may become tense. In a span of 30 years, the world is on the brink of large conflict again.......

Great map Arctodus! Do you have a legend that would give a more precise idea as to which country is which on your map?

Was very excited initially when I thought this was an OTL map showing all world archaeological cultures

In 1927, the Senussi did it against all odds. The Italians had been reduced to Tripoli, Benghazi, Derna and Tobruk. The Senussi Libyans mobilized the last of their strength and laid siege to the four remnant cities of Italian Libya. The Italians held the cities for nearly a year, but by 1928, Tripoli fell to the Senussi, and the Italians, had been kicked out of Libya. In Italy, Mussolini's Regime was ousted by the military who took over in a coup, instituting a more 'normal' far-right military government (instead of fascism), and in Libya, Idris I continued the slow and steady development of the nation - with British, French and Turkish investments, in particular, being heavily helpful to the nation. In 1939, the Libyans initially declared neutrality in the developments of WW2, but the entry of Italy in late 1939 on the German Side forced Libya to re-evaluate its defenses, and military. Italy did launch surprise raids into Libyan ports in early 1940 forcing Libya to declare war on the Axis joining the war on the side of the allies. Libyan troops fought predominantly in the East African Theatre from 1940 - 41, aiding the British in mopping up the region easily, before it was used as a platform by the British and Americans to deal with the Vichy French in North Africa in 1941 - 42. In the 1942 Allied Invasion of Italy, Libyan Troops constituted a good 15.62% of the invading force. In 1945, when the war ended, the Libyans had taken up 3449 military casualties in WW2, and were known - in particular in Italy - for their unorthodox, fluid and heavy endurance during fighting. After WW2, the nation settled down to become a prosperous nation by African standards, enjoying high living standards. Thoughts and Comments?
Great map. Although it’s very interesting to see a refernce to the Senussiya, such circumstances are highly unlikely.

The name Libya was only officially utilized to refer to Italian North Africa in the 30s. It’s unlikely the Emirate would claim such name.

Moreover, Senussi resistance was primarily concentrated in the hinterlands of Cyrenaica, in particular the region of the Green Mountains. The conflict was not so much a war of nationwide resistance more so a response to Italian incursion into territory. Indeed, Idris had previously co-operated with the Italians, agreeing to accept their rule of the Cyrenaican coast in return for administration of the oases around Kufra, Jalu, Jaghbub, Awjila and Ajdabya.

Had the Sennusiya defied the odds and somehow expelled Italian presence in Cyrenaica, it’s unlikely they would enter Tripolitania. Idris had never truly desired rule beyond that of Cyrenaica. Indeed, he expressed that sentiment multiple times during his reign of Libya. To be frank, Idris had very little in rule regardless.

After years of abuse and mistreatment, I've decided to give poor old Poland a break.

Lovely "atlas of world history" type map there.

Poland annexing central Russia but not Lithuania strikes me as rather strange. It's certainly different!

Thoughts and remarks?

Interesting map and scenario. I'd like some clarifications:

Is the Roma state the very dark blue one between Gujarat and central India? And are Gujarat and that small state on the east coast of central India independent states?

Is Pegu that peach-colored state between Burma and Thailand? (Quibble: Java would demographically dominate any such Nusantaran state - wouldn't it breaking off be like England seceding from Wales and Scotland?)

Is that large tan-colored state encompassing most of west Africa the Sahel Quadiate? What of the dark colored state in Senegal, the greyish-brown state between Lagos and western coastal Ghana, and the puce colored state between it and Kongola? (Yemenis? Not sure I find that believable...)

In Europe, what's that state in NW Germany? A Hanseatic state?

Is the Emirate of Jadidya the green state in the Guyanas area?

If the Chichimeca state is that one in southern Texas and Louisiana, they've certainly been displaced quite some ways from OTL. Is Danish Solendgangen that arctic/Hudsons bay company state, Nova Scotia that New England state and New France/Dominique Greater Quebec?

The Pan-Pacific Economic Organization

Part 1
---------------------------
Ever since Hideyoshi rose to power, It has always been Japan's desire to expand and dominate the Asian mainland. It was this very ambition that the Japanese modernized and started participating in Imperialism along with the European Powers in the late 19th Century. Unfortunately for them, Japan wasn't the only with ambitions to become the dominant power in Asia.

The conflict between Panyupayana and Japan was seen by historians to be inevitable. Two expansionist powers with similar ambitions are bound to clash eventually over their spheres of influences, a clash that resulted in one of the bloodiest theaters of the Second Great War. Unfortunately for Japan, they would lose this conflict and be punished severely for it: Their monarchy and military was abolished and replaced by a fully pacified government that is essentially a proxy of the west. An even worse insult is that Japan had to concede most of their naval assets and overseas territories to their Tagalog rivals.

During the Cold War, the Japanese Government stayed relatively neutral and quietly sailed along the conflicts of other world powers. With the help of western aid Japan's economy would improve and return to pre-war levels by the 1970s. In the 1980s, the economy would start to inflate as Japan becomes more export oriented, with the Japanese Electronic and Automobile industries being the most profitable assets in the Japanese Economy. In 1985, Japan and Austronesia, for the first time since the Second Great War, would enter a trade agreement in an attempt to mitigate the growing trade imbalance between the two, now known as the Plaza Accord. Unfortunately for the two, the accord would do little in changing the status quo, and would result to the Asian Financial Crisis in the early 1990s.

Japan's Economy was practically shattered by the crisis, with their interest rates and GDP reaching historic lows by 1992. Wages in Japan went down, Multiple companies became unprofitable and as a result exacerbated Japan's debt further. With living conditions becoming worse, the Japanese citizens started to distrust the current government for their failed attempts to revitalize the Japanese economy, an anger that was soon taken advantage of by Japanese Ultranationalist Political Parties to gain support. One particular party, the Nihon daiittō (Japan First Party), started spreading the narrative that the Financial Crisis was purposefully started by the Austronesians to impose their economic imperialism to Japan, and that the only way to restore Japan to its glory is the restoration of the Monarchy and the re-establishment of the Japanese Military. Fearing a potential uprising the Japanese Government started cracking down on Far-Right political parties, a move that only made the problems worse and directly resulted to the Nihon daiittō's successful coup of the government in September 2, 1993. In the first day of their regime, the party restored Emperor Akihito into the throne as well as announcing that the creation of the Japan Self-Defense Force for the purposes of "National Defense".

In order to revitalize their stagnated economy the government looked at the Asian mainland for an opportunity: the newly independent states in the Soviet Union's and China's former Far-East territories. In 1995, Japan strikes a deal with the territories of Kamchatka and Sakhalin to least their territory to build naval and air bases, and granting Japanese corporations a most-favored-nation deal in the oil and gas industry in exchange for investments. While Sakhalin and Kamchatka were initially friendly to the Japanese, the sudden wave of Japanese immigrants and growing political influence in their governments attempted to pull out of the deal, only to be overthrown by the Japanese Self-Defense force who used the clashes between Japanese citizens and the locals as justification. As a result, Kamchatka and Sakhalin became Japan's "Extra Territorial Districts". During that time period, Japan used the same strategy on several far-east countries in Siberia from 1995 until the early 2000s, expanding further in China when its sovereignty was compromised in 2004 after a constitutional crisis and North America after the Great Recession of 2005. With almost full access to these territories as well as the industrial complexes of Manchuria and Cascadia, Japan's economy rose up once more and became one of the fastest growing economies in the Asia-Pacific Region.

While the Japanese Government was aware that a full military buildup would prompt a response from both the United Nations and Austronesia, Japan found a loophole by producing smaller "Helicoptor carriers" and emphasizing the use and development of STOVL and VTOL aircraft that could more easily launch from them for the purpose of defense. In 2010, the Japanese Government would outright repeal Article 9, a constitutional condition placed by the United Nations that prevents Japan from using its military to settle international disputes. This controversial move would surprisingly face little protest from the rest of the world as most are focused in the ongoing crisis within the Russian Government, though Austronesia, China, and Mexico would protest the repeal greatly. By 2022, Japan's Military is one of the largest military in the region, Just below both India and Austronesia. There are also alleged rumors of Japan performing secret underground nuclear tests in Mongolia, which Japan neither confirms nor denies as part of their policy of deliberate ambiguity, prompting fears of a potential nuclear war in Asia.

Japan's rapid growth and militarization proved to be an existential threat to both Austronesia and China. Both still remembers the horrors Japan inflicted during the Second Great War (something that the current government continues to deny to these day) and fears that it would happen again if Japan is allowed to continue on. The reawakening of a century-old rivalry divided Asia once more between the two powers as more and more Japanese are engulfed in an almost nationalistic frenzy to reclaim whatever glory and honor they have lost in the Second Great War, sending Asia once again to the brink of Total War.

Made a thread for this series here since this is probably the first time i'm actually trying to do a larger world building instead of one offs and would like feedback and any suggestions you guys can give.

the Roma state the very dark blue one between Gujarat and central India? And are Gujarat and that small state on the east coast of central India independent states?
Yes, the state on east coast is independent hindu state of Orissa but culturally muslim. I will try to update with legends and points of interest. Working with Microsoft paint is quite difficult.
Is that large tan-colored state encompassing most of west Africa the Sahel Quadiate?
Yes
What of the dark colored state in Senegal, the greyish-brown state between Lagos and western coastal Ghana
A legacy of Portuguese colonization of west Africa which was more extensive ITTL due to less fray into Indian Ocean. The grey state is Wadanka, think of it as Dahomey, an animist state managing to hold on the Banu Hilal led Fulani wave. The Sahel Qadhiate is quite secular and patronised both when the Fulani were a credible threat.
and the puce colored state between it and Kongola? (Yemenis? Not sure I find that believable...)
Nope, just emirate of Adamawa who managed to hold onto this place when Zaidiya Kongolese swept over the weakened Fulani.
Europe, what's that state in NW Germany? A Hanseatic state?
A successor of Hanseatic states called Hannover created after Danish hegemony collapsed in the first half of 19th century. Look harder and you can see independent Holstein.
the Chichimeca state is that one in southern Texas and Louisiana, they've certainly been displaced quite some ways from OTL.
My plan was that after introduction of horse and Islamisation, they would create a sort of Nomadic empire in this part. It is simply an area where Chichimeca retain their pre English colonial administration, the Annahok don’t bother, more so now.
. Is Danish Solendgangen that arctic/Hudsons bay company state, Nova Scotia that New England state and New France/Dominique Greater Quebec?
Yes, only Nova scotia is a scottish colonial project which became its own thing rather early.

I think you have read my deleted post where I described the points of interest. Wasn’t satisfied the way it turned out. I will upload another map with legends and points of interest and their short description. Hope you liked the name Monrovia 😉.
Great map Arctodus! Do you have a legend that would give a more precise idea as to which country is which on your map?
Yes, as I stated above that a new map with legends, point of interest and their description will be uploaded.

I really adore this one actually; Russian America AH is always fun, and stuff tangentially related to immigration to Russia is always fun.

Only real complaint is "Yekaterinaberg", but I suppose it can be chalked up to a ITTL typo. On that note, Yekaterinburg was the site of a vast gold rush in the early 19th century, as it was the first Russian city where ore gold was found and mined.

This might be completely off base but did you... Draw this on a Q-Bam and then warp it to fit the projection?

Not quite sure I follow. Are you saying that area as well as Holstein was ruled over by Denmark? (If so, I'm not quite sure why Germany didn't annex them).

Because Germany this time was unified by a swiss house, so starting from the south. There was also the pressure of PLC and Burgundy who were afraid of a unified German nation. Unification was a rather slow and ardous process. The Hanseatic league also stayed relevant for longer so.......

Holstein was ruled over by Danes, not the northern part of Germany. But they were under Danish influence, sure. The unification of northern German states was a more recent development spurred by Swedish wanting to weaken Danes.
