The Sister Republics of the Black Sea
vKW6Ph1.png

I don't really have any lore, I just stumbled across both short lived countries' wikipedia pages, and thought it would be cool if they survived to the modern day.
Why Sochi? Assuming these countries are RCS leftovers, Sochi was not as significant at the time as Krasnodar and Novorossiysk.

Kropotkin was named after a Moscow-born writer by the Soviets and here wouldn't be called that. Its original name was Romanovsky Khutor.

Just dug up an old Rome wank map I made in Inkscape a while ago where can I post it (it is quite large 6000 x 4000 or so)?

Maybe try here? If it is too large, try splitting it into multiple pictures/messages. Or just take a screenshot and crop out the map and then post it.

I went all the way down to 500 x 300 and it still didnt work which is much smaller than maps I uploaded yesterday so do not know what is wrong

Opening it at low res it looks like trash.

It's the file size, not the size of the image that is the restriction. If it's too large, you will need to host it on an external site and link the image.

Apart from the massive anachronism that is the name "Bessarabia"* (Bohemia and Moravia are slightly iffy, but they could work since Bohemia was named for the Boii, and Moravia was named fro the Morava river), cool.

Maybe Dacia Sarmatiensis (but with better Latin) might work. Or Dacia Transporata, which refers to an old name for the Prut river. Or some other suitable name.

*a name which would almost certainly not exist ITTL for a whole host of reasons

Thanks, I also made a hyperwank for that map aswell, one thing is I made it about a year ago and didnt come up with any names for coloniae for Boihaemia and Moravaia so yeah I've got nothing for that right now could use some tips as I could reupload it with those fixes.

Could name the region Trajania lol

MODERN TAMRIEL SERIES #1:-
THE EMPIRE OF CYRODIIL

tgDKydK.png

With the declaration of the 8th Era after the formation of the Tamriellic Union - an economic and political supranational union of Tamriellic Nations - the Empire of Cyrodiil became the largest, most populous, and most powerful nation in the TU. The Imperial City, the center of Tamriel, and the Nexus of Mundus became the de-facto capital of the TU, becoming the figurehead city of all of Tamriel for the first time since the days of the Oblivion Crisis. After centuries - millennia even - of warfare, genocides, and empires coming and going, Tamriel was ready to rest, and instead pursue her ambitions economically, and no other country showcased that fact more than Cyrodiil. The common currency and free borders - The Alinor Area - allowed for immense wealth to flow into the nation as Cyrodiil, and indeed all of Tamriel finally put the memory of the Great Wars of the Fourth to the Seventh Eras behind them.

Boasting a population of over 110 Million, Cyrodiil is the most populous member of the Tamriellic Union. Though not as cosmopolitan as the glory days of the Third Empire due to the Imperial-centric focus of the Fifth and Sixth Empires, it remains the most ethnically and racially diverse region of Tamriel to this date. It is dominated by the Races of Man at around ~87% with the rest being Elvish populations. Tamriellic remains - like throughout all of Tamriel - the favored languages of communication between all cultures, though, of course, Cyrodiilic is spoken by and large as well. Its government is a Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy headed by His Majesty the Emperor Desilus III of the House of Carvain who united the now called 7th Empire of Cyrodiil. Its current High Chancellor after the Elections of 8E 1 is Nelsinah Teltis - a Dunmer Warrioress from Cheydinhal - whose political party - Cyrodiil Forward - managed to win a supermajority. Like all TU members, the Tamriellic Crown (TRC) is the nation's currency.

thoughts and comments?
I love it, and I hope this series continues. Do they drive on the right side or the left side of the road?

Almost 40 years after the defeat of the Ultranationalist empires, the spectre of ethnic war in the Caucasus re-emerged amidst a rise in global instability. The electoral victory of the National Democratic Party in Armenia, with its promise of deeper multi-ethnic democracy, had led to the weakening of the Turkish-backed Turkist nationalist parties, and the neo-nationalist government of Turkey felt violence had become the only option to weaken the Armenian state. Bursa's network of radical Turkist militias in Armenia united under the banner of the Turkic National Forces, and they launched their long-hoped-for campaign of ethnic violence in 1989.
The TNF achieved more success than anyone had thought possible in the first year of the war, capturing not just Derdjan and Bayberd, but also Karin, Ardahan, Tigranakert and Nakhijevan. Cities such as Moush, Karakilisa, and Tsolakert were devastated by brutal battles, and the capital city of Kars faced a brutal, years-long siege. Armenian populations faced massacres and expulsions across TNF-occupied territories, and hundreds of thousands of civilians were displaced.
The Armenian state reversed decades of democratic progress in the name of national self-defence, and faced significant criticism for measures taken against Turkish civilians unassociated with the TNF. Turkish civilians were also displaced by Armenian national forces in numerous incidents, and both sides were accused of violent reprisals against anti-war activists and of discrimination against mixed-ethnicity families.
The Turkist advance stagnated in 1990, and the next two years saw slow, bloody conflict fester across Armenia. A short period of Kurdish resistance to the Armenian war effort led to a compromise granting autonomy to Kurdish-inhabited regions, and the TNF were forced to retreat from the Moush and Tsolakert regions by 1992. The Turkish government was toppled in the 1992 Turkish Spring, where a coalition of liberal and pro-peace parties drove protests massive enough to force the neo-nationalists from power and install a government willing to cut support to the TNF in order to make peace.
The TNF attempted to hold out, but their growing isolation and difficulties securing arms led to the breaking of the siege of Kars, and the Armenian recapture of Karin during the Spring Offensive. In order to avoid total defeat, the TNF decided to accept Turkish proposals to negotiate peace, and by June 1993, the Orange Peace Accords were signed.
-
The four-year-long Armenian Civil War came to an end with the Orange Accords, signed by the Armenian Republic and the Turkic National Forces (TNF) in 1993. The Armenian government had been eager to end the massacres and rebuild, while the TNF had been in retreat even before the 1992 Turkish Spring toppled their most major sponsors.
The accords provided for a Turkic Autonomy within Armenia, which took on significant powers of governance in fourteen new cantons. The Armenian government's compromise with Kurdish parties was codified into law, and the Tsolakert region became an intercommunal autonomous canton. Both parties also committed to encode universal human rights in their laws and institutions.
The deal was criticised by many: Turkists who desired unification with Turkey/Azaristan, Armenians angry about sharing power with anti-Armenian Turkists, and those who opposed a permanently ethnically divided state. Since the peace accords, tension has remained, as TNF figures have been slowly prosecuted for war crimes, and mainstream Armenian parties advocate for a return to unified multi-ethnic government. Fringe groups also advocate for a Kurdish equivalent to the Turkic Autonomy, and even further decentralisation.

Any similarities to OTL Bosnia are strictly intentional. POD is in the 1790s, so if anyone objects to the borders, there's about two centuries of timeline to explain them, I swear.

Hungary in a TL, where Trianon was a bit fairer to Hungary, but Austria (under the name "Noric Republic" - led by the so-called Norics, a Germanness-denial group, who say they were just Germanized Celts and Romans, rather than actual Germans) claimed, occupied and annexed the city of Sopron, the region around Mosonmagyarorvár (~95% of the comitatus of Moson), as well as the town of Kőszeg after WWI.
After WWII, the country became officially a neutral democratic republic.
From November 1958 to March 1989, the country was a communistic/socialistic dictatorship, but other than in OTL, not as part of the Warsaw Pact or otherwisely allied with the USSR. It still was neutral, similar to OTL-Yugoslavia.

This map shows Hungary as of October 31st, 1958 - one day before the communist coup.

Cool to see a smol Hungary that still has Prekmurje. I like the alternate regions, though I'm sad that Slovakia must be smaller too.

Noric Republic is a good one, too.

Just a tip on using imgur with the forum, go to imgur and copy the "direct link" for your image, then on the boards use "insert image" and paste the link. It'll insert the image much larger and without a frame.
Okay I got it to work, thanks for the tip.

Also I just noticed I forgot to add a boundary for the provinces of Alpes Maritimae.
