This is actually one of the most original maps I’ve ever seen. Have a like.

Oneshot mini-map inspired by Alexander North's ISOT timeline.
New Thule.png

I have no real timeline of events here. I just have this vague idea of a Nazis-in-Western Europe, as depicted in AH's timeline. The basic timeline would be Nazi Norway from 1941 appearing next to 1861 Victorian Britain, in which the Nazis abandon Norway in order to conquer what they see as much more profitable territory (and one of their biggest enemies). They quickly invade and subjugate the British, using their advanced technology (80-year difference) to fight the army and bomb the cities, with the government eventually surrendering. The Nazis soon unleash their policies upon the populace, arresting, enslaving, and/or killing Jews, non-whites, and political opponents. Later, one or two years later 1940 Nazi France appears, where Hitler and the rest of the higher-ups were present, which serves as a boost to the Nazis manpower and morale. Not long after 1917 Ireland, 1904 Belgium, 1940 Luxemburg, and the 2020 Faroe Islands appear, all of which are invaded and either annexed or puppeted by the Nazis. Eventually, New Thule would be taken down after they became involved in a war with multiple countries, including some uptime ones, who are well aware of the crimes the Nazis committed. The surrender would be singed in London, where the Nazi empire would be eventually disbanded, and all of it's occupied territories set free.

Maybe I'll redo this in the future.

Screen Shot 2020-09-09 at 9.41.42 PM.png

British Philippines, Manila
Seized by the United Commonwealth in 1932, following the dissolution of American power in the Western Pacific. A multicultural colony that serves as the backbone of British influence in Southeast Asia, its economic value has nevertheless been hampered by a perpetual state of inner turmoil. A series of measures have, in later years, significantly improved Britain's authority over the Philippines, which include the raising of local regiments, agricultural diversification, expansion of welfare programs, and increased literacy among the non-European residents. The population has undergone a process of intense British cultural assimilation, although Spanish and Filipino influences remain strong. The cities are mainly populated by Europeans and prominent Filipinos, while a good percentage of the population remains rural. Maybe one day the archipelago will earn the right to its nickname, "the Jewel of the East Indies".

Screen Shot 2020-09-09 at 9.51.33 PM.png

British Java, Jakarta
The British were quick to annex the heartland of the Dutch East Indies once local colonial authority collapsed in the late 1920's. This densely populated and culturally diverse island remains a turbulent hotspot due to independence freedom-fighters; however, it remains far more profitable than the Philippines, and Jakarta has since become one of the largest and most productive cities in Southeast Asia. Java thrives in Islamic culture in a way incomparable to other regions: the Sultan of Yogyakarta, for example - currently Hamengkubuwono X - serves as spiritual leader of Java, and helps maintain unity under British control. Anglo-Saxon settlers are more numerous than in other places, although they hold a disproportionate amount of the colony's wealth. The future is looking bright for Java, albeit it must thread carefully.

Screen Shot 2020-09-09 at 10.02.44 PM.png

British Borneo, Brunei Town
The entire island of Borneo became a single entity in 1970, with the Kuching Accords. Vast and woefully unexplored, this territory is considerably less developed than other colonial counterparts, and progress has been hampered by the expanding authority of the Sultan of Brunei. Granted de jure sovereignty over Borneo as a spiritual representative, the Bruneian monarchy has grown in strength at the expense of Bornean locals and British authorities. Calls for reform and democracy have been quashed by the Sultan, and the island sustains itself thanks to an oversized British military presence and a few dismally mismanaged business ventures owned by the Sultan. Indigenous Borneans have been affected by newer Malay and Chinese arrivals, while British colonists have pushed deeper inland in search of economic potential. This growing ethnic tension, coupled with Brunei's expansionist aspirations, make Borneo a very unstable part of the United Commonwealth.

1599707732345.png

Republic of the Celebes, Makassar
The successor state of the Dutch East Indies, which peacefully gained independence from the Netherlands in 1954. This assortment of islands has remained strongly Dutch in terms of culture and language, mainly due to the large influx of settlers following the loss of Java and the relative tardiness of its independence. The Celebes follows a semi-presidential system akin to many other former monarchies, as they themselves had the Dutch monarchy up to 1977, bearing the title of "King of the Celebes". This was reverted following a referendum. Given its relatively low population and abundance of natural resources, the Celebes are a prosperous nation with a sound political system and healthy international relations, particularly with the Mother Country. As stated before, the Celebes are primarily Dutch, although intermixing with the locals is not an uncommon occurrence. Everything is going well for the Celebes islands.

1599742885820.png

Democratic Republic of Sumatra, Medan
Broke free from the Dutch in a violent revolution, precipitating the fall of the Netherlands' hold in the East Indies, in the mid-20's. Sumatra, like Java, is intensely attached to the Muslim faith. However, in Sumatra's case, this reaches violent levels of extremity. The unstable early republic was soon replaced by a fanatical Islamic state that endures to this day. This lush and naturally endowed island has experienced a brutal purge of non-Muslim, non-Sumatran elements, making it increasingly culturally homogenous. Unlike its sister Celebes, Sumatra suffers from overpopulation, a weak centrally-planned economy, and an overwhelming lack of democracy and civic rights. It is led by the Grand Sultan - formerly the Sultan of Aceh, currently Tuanku Raja Ibrahim I - which serves as the main religious guide, although in practice he holds all political power. Should conflict arise in Southeast Asia, Sumatra might as well be the catalyst for it.

1599745974839.png

Republic of Australia, Canberra
Broke free from the British fold during the crisis of the 1960's. Australia, drawing from a historic pride, was quick to shed any vestige of British imperialism, establishing a fully presidential republic and abandoning the old Westminster system. They also adopted a new flag, an old design fondly remembered by Australians as a symbol of resistance. As the largest and most populous independent power in the region, Australia endeavored to secure its independence at Britain's expense, occupying and annexing Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia. Australia has grown into a gigantic economic powerhouse, which has fueled an intense military buildup that has only accelerated in recent years. Nearby states, most notably the British, are seeing Australia's growing strength and ambition with high alarm. One day may come when Australia will rise to its full potential, lest it fall back into the claws of the resurgent British.

1599764342776.png

New Zealand Republic, Wellington
The island country followed Australia's lead, configuring itself into a non-parliamentarian republic free of any British influences. New Zealand, however, has remained the isolated, often forgotten corner of the globe it always has been. This limit in size and power has been exacerbated by the colossal growth of Australia, which has become the number-one threat to New Zealand's existence. The Australians are now pressuring New Zealand into uniting with them to form an "Australasian Union", stripping away the latter's independence. So far, small but determined New Zealand has adamantly refused, although the country's resolve is slowly diminishing before Australia's indomitable strength. The island country is now seeking allies for protection, leading to increasingly warmer relations with the U.C. New Zealanders remain firm on keeping their home free, even if that entails forging an alliance with an old enemy.

Commission for Califorum(my name on deviantart) for a map of Europe based on an Alternate-History Timeline in which the 1859 Pig War between Britain and the U.S. merges with the American Civil War fought two years later in 1861.

The Pig War & The Civil War

It all began in 1859. A pig was shot by an American farmer that erupted a war between the United States and the British Empire. To make matters worse, in the heat of the conflict the slave-owning American South seceded from the Union as the Confederate States of America. With the advantage of talented generals, the CSA was able to pull of stunning defeats upon the Union and secure victories in the battles that ensued. Meanwhile, the British Empire invaded the Northeast United States, succeeding in carving out the region as among the provinces of Canada.

With the United States forced into surrender the British seized control of Michigan and the Confederates achieved independence. The United States, forced to lick its wounds and shamed from the war would have a heart of vengeance. Conflict arose once more between the 1870s-1880s resulting in the secession of California who was able to end hostilities and negotiate neutrality by giving the C.S.A the northern half of the state. The war would be a stalemate, and the British intervention resulted in New England becoming an independent partner in 1889, making the local populace, tired of decades of instability pleasure with the arrangement. For Russia, though attempts to sell Alaska to any state failed, the feared occupation of the furthest Russian territory by Canada never occurred.

A New America & The Great War

The successful unification of Germany in 1871 resulted in the spread of European alliance systems into North America as tensions rose again between the USA and CSA. The Entente Alliance came into realisation with the alliance of the Russian Empire, Confederate States, France, and Britain. While the Central Powers were formed by the United States, German Empire, Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the Ottoman Empire.

Further East, the Russian Empire defeated a fledgeling Japan in the Russo-Japanese war and took Hokkaido while proving European supremacy over Asia. The Japanese Empire would be forced into an inescapable downward spiral. The Japanese Empire never was able to recover, the Emperor and the 'old ways' of Japan had lost out. Accounts are unclear but a new Japanese brand of Socialist ideology soon overthrew the Emperor. This ideology spread all throughout Southeast Asia, and areas of the world as a whole.

The Great War was a victory for the Entente and saw the division of the former United States. Cascadia was carved out of the Northwest as a British allied state. Though unification with Canada was discussed it never came to fruition. The Heartland and the Federal Republic of America were carved out as numerous Confederate protectorates, and New England gained new Jersey. Borders shifted in Europe. Due to good leadership, Russia narrowly avoid armed revolution and support for Communism slowly dissipated. The Confederates officially abolished the institution of slavery in the 1920s, but by then it was already on it's gradual way out. However, the alliance between the Entente Powers would soon fall apart due to the Confederate issue of the treatment of Black Africans resulting in the founding of the Moscow-Richmond Understanding.

A New Europe & The Silent War

After the war the 'Imperial Federation' concept arose in the British mindset, leading to the creation of the United Empire between all Colonies, Dominions, and the British themselves. The concept of unification between the mother empire and her colonies soon spread to France and lead to the creation of the Federation of France.

In Germany, Italy, the former Ottoman Empire, Hungary and the like had faced a large social change. Cohesism, an ideology similar to our timeline's Fascism, arose in these states. Under alternate leadership, the horrors of the holocaust and the like never happened. With more stable and reasonable leadership, these states never caused a second World War. Instead, it went immediately into the so-called 'Silent War' that began after the British first tested the Atomic bomb, after taking advantage of the talent of Jews that fled persecution in Germany.

The powers of the world would be divided between 4 ideologies: Socialism with Nationalist elements would spread to China, North India which did not accept the British plan for Unification, and Brazil whose own South seceded as well as many other states. Imperial Democracy between the newly unified colonial powers of France and Britain. Authoritarian Oligarchism of the Moscow-Richmond coalition of the CSA, Russia, and their sphere of influence. And Cohesim which arose in Germany, Italy, Turkey, Hungary, and other minor states.

With the sides drawn, the ideological struggle began over territories, resources, and ideas. Brazil fell to civil war, the old Portuguese-descended Monarchy surviving in Amazonia. Cohesist elements seized the Eastern coast soon after. Brazil remains split in three ways between hostile sides until this day.

To most Indians, the idea of unification with Britain was unacceptable and, unlike other minor colonies, the continent-sized territory had the population to back up its opposition. Revolutionaries took hold of the North with only the easily accessible South being retained by London.

The Germans would launch the first man into space in 1953 which ended in a tragic failure for the astronaut who burned up in the atmosphere on re-entry. The Coalition lead by Britain and France landed the first man on the moon in 1961. Then there was a landing by a joint Russo-Confederate a year afterwards. There would be much more landings on the moon by all powers and nations involved, and serious planning for lunar bases was put into action.

A New World & The End Of The Silent War

Nuclear paranoia, conflicting territories in Antarctica, at least 3 near-end of the world events where "The button could have been pushed" occurred. It made the world a hell of division. This 'Silent War' lasted from 1941 to 1995. By the 90s, Germany was bankrupt and couldn't keep up their ideology much longer. They retreated from the trimmed Czech lands. A wave of change went across the Steel Ring in Europe, regimes dropped Cohesism for a more right-wing democracy.

The wave of change across Germany brought a new mindset to the world, the Silent War must come to an end. The SALT treaties were signed, nuclear arms use was reduced after seeing the damage such weapons could cause and the casualties in this conflict. Antarctic territories and claims were finalised, recognised by all nations of the world. Competing claims for the moon were recognised and finalised as well. There had been around 100 living on the moon by then in large mostly self-sufficient bases. Most nations would lay claim to areas of the moon although not having bases in their claim. More of a 'for the future' sort of thing. Mars missions and claims had been seriously plotted but the technology to get there remains many years away. The United Nations was further finalised at the end of the conflict.

Seeing the changes in Europe, many Confederate citizens and African-Americans lead a massive protest to demand change. In 1996 official racial equality laws were put in place, though the actual enforcement of such laws remains questionable. By 2020, the world is still reeling from the Recession of 2005 but progress is being made.

If anything will define the 21st century it is the reduction in tensions between the world alliances, more colonisation of the Moon and possibly Mars, and the struggles of dealing with political upheaval and climate change.

A Cold War Divided Greece
l2OrHos.png

A map depicting an alternate end to the Greek Civil War.

Basically here in ttl, the Communists and left-leaning Republicans manage to attain victory on the mainland in the Greek Civil War that began in 1946. With most of the mainland falling to Communist Control, the Royal family and the Hellenic government fled to Crete where they form a government in exile. The unexpected fall of Greece to the Red Tide of Communism causes panic throughout Europe as the USSR now has access to the warm water Mediterranean ports through a friendly Greece. The exiled Kingdom of Greece now finds itself a propped up by the UK, France, and the US seeking to contain Soviet influence. In this timeline the Cold War is a bit more heated than otl, and the rump Kingdom of Greece ends up as a sort of Taiwan to the People's Republic of Greece. Eventually as the Communist government grows unpopular the people begin agitating for independence and an end to the Communist regime especially as the Orthodox Church is suppressed, and living standards decline in comparison to the more prosperous capitalist states. This resentment and tension finally boils over leading to the Greek Revolution of the 1980's with the people rising up against the tyrannical dictatorship as the Royalist armies are welcomed into Greece. The Revolution proved to be the first nail in the coffin for Soviet Empire as it caused a domino effect with nations like Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, and Poland soon having their own Revolutions. This eventually leads to the downfall of the Soviet Union culminating in the disastrous Second Russian Civil War of 1991 that led to the rise of the Vozhd Putin who serves as regent for the newly restored Romanovs.

Greece here develops into a Constitutional Monarchy here in ttl, though unlike say the UK, Belgium, or Spain, the monarchy has more executive powers here as a result of Greece being more of a de-facto Royalist dictatorship due to the circumstances surrounding the aftermath of the civil war. Though the government here is far more moderate and has begun to liberalize as the years pass. Greece after the Revolution becomes a robust economic power within Europe after the war, developing a major shipping industry and experiencing a massive economic boom following an influx of foreign investment.

What do you guys think of this map and the little mini-timeline I made?

What do you guys think of this map and the little mini-timeline I made?
What is Putinist-Tsarist Russia like? Any major differences, aside from being an authoritarian monarchy born from a civil war instead of an authoritarian republic born from a largely bloodless collapse, between it and the Russian Federation IOTL?
