Finally, it is finished. A new set of municipalities for Italy. I'm not even going to count how many there are (the Pelagie Islands form one more municipality to the south), you can do that yourself.

Any new maps from this world in progress?
Nothing finished yet, but I have a WIP of North America in 1926 that's coming along reasonably well. Should be finished in a few more months (I've always been a slow map-maker, can't really be helped). Progress is however being held up as I have to actually make the new base-map from scratch before I can start on the alternate history aspect.
Funnily enough I was going to post something in a few days anyway, as I'm about half way through Mexico and the Caribbean and nearly finished with the US, which seems like a good point to show off progress so far. (well, the US aside from Alaska. I'm trying not to think about Alaska for now. That coastline is practically fractal. And don't even talk to me about Arctic Canada).
As you asked so nicely, here's the current progress on the new basemap (everything OTL, Robinson projection, almost-but-not-quite QBAM scale);
I'll probably be posting a more complete map once Central America and the Caribbean are done, then another when North America is finished as a whole.
Actually, come to think about it, I might set up a thread to post updates, if there's enough interest in it.
I'd like to see a thread for it tbh, would also be a good way to speed up the basemap making process by having more people on board. The map gives so many Q-BAM vibes but it's an actual projection so it's a great improvement.

I thought for a second this was a Zaidi Yemen, but Himyar works just as well.
Differently colored areas are the recognized linguistic minorities, I gather?

Not yet. Much of the famous Cold War post-nuclear apocalypse fiction focuses on one area in particular (ex. Threads, When the Wind Blows, The Day After… etc.)
The only scenario I’ve ever seen that also has the 1983 nuclear incident as a PoD for a nuclear apocalypse would be the recent 1983 map game.
So this is my attempt at a Reverse Cold War (before anyone says, it's not meant to be realistic)
I would also like to thank Sir-Conor for his map for some inspiration.
In 1901, William McKinley while visiting Pan-American Exposition, was nearly assassinated by an anarchist. The bullet would only slightly miss him near the arm. The anarchist was detained and McKinley lived another day. The Gildan Age continues and the Socialists and Communists would gain popularity across many Americans. With more Presidents being unable to deal with this crisis, polarization would grow. By 1908 the election would be indecisive with the two candidates claiming victory. The Communists, having been in third and fourth place would call for a revolution in the US. On November 17, under the leadership of Upton Sinclair, several armed men would take control of the US capital, and declared the United Council of Socialist States of America. Thus begins the Second American Revolution (Also known as the Second American Civil War to many). The War lasted up until 1911, with the remaining government, military and several Anti-Communists fleeing to Alaska and Hawaii as a government in exile. WW1 still happens, with the Central Powers seeing much more success with the Americans never joining or sending supplies to the entente. The Russian Civil War would still occur, however, the Whites being more stable, politically unified, the Germans launched an intervention and Lenin assassination, the Whites were victorious, and the formation of the Republic of Russia. The Western Entente would later sign peace to the Germans, ending the war with a central victory. The French would see their own Communist government following a civil war, gaining support from the US. In 1930, an economic crisis would spread across the world, hitting Britain the most. Eventually, a revolution would occur in both Britain and their Dominions, and the British monarch and both their and the government fleeing to South Africa. India would see itself gain independence under a Communist government as well. Following these, the International was founded for communist nations. After Sinclair died from an assassination, a dictatorship is formed in the UCSSA by Jasper Sterlan (Fictional character if anyone is wondering) Tensions rise between Germany, the Russians and the West, with Russia and the British and French wanting revenge for their loss. The Russians, and British and French launch an invasion of the Central Powers on August 5, 1940, beginning the second world war. Japan soon also join on the German side hoping to seize the remaining colonies from the European nations in exile and their anti-communist and Anti-Russian beliefs. By 1945, the Central Powers were defeated with the collapse of Austria-Hungary and the Ottomans. Germany was divided into 3 States and the Japanese were split into 2. A Cold War would form between the UCSSA and the United Republic of Eurasia (with Russia reforming). In 1950, the Japanese War occurs when the South invaded the North. After 2 years the war comes into a stalemate. In 1956, Sternlin dies and Norman Thomas take charge, De-Sternlinizing America and recreating an election system. In 1963 A missile crisis occurs in Cuba nearly sparking a Nuclear War. In 1965 The Indonesian War begins between Communist and the Government forces. The Russians and Chinese would send forces to aid the Indonesian government, however, after years of fighting were forced to withdraw with the public demanding the country to leave the conflict in 1976. In 1978 The Flipino civil war occurs with communist forces launching an uprising. In 1979, the communist government of Argentina would see a civil war between them and the Anti-Communist, supported by the Russians, and American and Commonwealth forces are sent to the conflict, with the war becoming unpopular among many sectors. It seems that the cold war will go on for decades more.

That is indeed what actually happened, but let's just say that there's been unusual ice buildup on the coast
It's nice to see South Africa avoid apartheid.
Generally I like this and think it's one of the better "Reversed Cold-War" Scenarios.
