The Dawn of a New Era

The 19th Century has been full of surprises, from the rise of the Peruvian Empire, to the victory of the Confederacy in the Civil War, all the way to the Italian Unification in 1853. All these achievements, howevers, were like specks of dust compared to the greatest event of the 20th Century so far: the founding of the Organization of Latin Nations.

The OLN was founded in 1902 by Emperor Fernando I de Veracruz, in one of his last acts before his death. Succeeding him is Eliza de Veracruz, his granddaughter, who set forth to stabilize the Empire, and ensure it will stand the test of time. In 1903 most of Latin America had joined the OLN, and by 1904 all Romance-speaking nations had become part of it. The existance of the OLN was a cause of concern for the German and English nations, especially given the Germans still wished to take back Alsace and Lorraine, which had been 'stolen' from them in 1896 by the Franco-Peruvians.

The late 19th Century was characterized by large waves of immigration, the greatest example being Peruvian East Asia. Within these provinces one may find a variety of people from all across the world, from the Chinese native to them, to the Peruvians of the Andes, the Hispanics of Iberia, Britons of England, and even Romanians and Serbians, all of them looking for a better life in the Empire. These waves were so great [1] that the Chinese were forced to either assimilate, of flee to the Qing-controlled territories, leading to the creation of a 'League of Southern Provinces' within the Qing, intent on expelling the Peruvians.

At large, the world is headed towards a great war, as the animosity between the French, Germans, British and Russians is growing more and more. At the same time, the Americans are looking for a way to reclaim their lands, and given that an Anglo-Saxon League is in the works between the British and Germans, they may find it.

how much genocide did the peruvians do to manage to be almost the majority in Southern China.
surprisingly, little to none. I fiddled with the game files to allow for migration to colonies, and a higher assimilation rate. I got Tahiti to be like 90% Chinese, so I guess that's where the Chinese fled. Hawaii is a fustercluck of ethnicities, and Central Africa has provinces where the French are majority.

Tahiti being 90% Chinese is one of the saddest thing I've read today

How does the French Republican Calendar come into play? Is it the official calendar throughout the OLN, or mainly/only in France?

Not here so much here but in the literary reviews and stuff, common complaints I've read in reviews were that it's a second rate Man in the High Castle and the characters don't react realistically to finding out their entire reality is a lie. Also I vaguely recall some criticism of the wiki article infodumps that open the chapters. But like I said, I really liked it. I actually wouldn't mind a sequel set in the setting's modern day somehow. It's actually ironic that it gets called a PKD knockoff but the whole secret trade in objects from the real world angle was appropriated wholesale by the MitHC tv series 🤔

That China looks interesting. I have a few questions about the population

1) is the pie chart based on the Vic 2 pie charts or your own idea
2) what happened to the Chinese population to make it such a small portion? Is it death from the Taiping rebellion & wars with the Chinese? Is it genocide? Did ethnic Chinese people flee to China? Would that mean that the Chinese core has more Cantonese, Hakka, & Min speakers? It can't just be settlement, since none of the settler countries of origin have enough people to make the proportions like that.
3) Damn that's a sizeable Serb population. Now, I like seeing Serbs around, but is there a particular reason why they're in South China in such large numbers?
4) where are the Tai?
5) where are the Vietnamese?

Also, is Korea independent or Peruvian?

2. Watch thy tounge, the Peruvian Motherland had 40 million people by 1870. Well, in-game I got Hainan to be a state, and when I got the mainland, the pops just flooded the mainland, within a year South Andean culture was majority. It doesn't work as well for colonial states, but if there's a factory in it, the accepted culture pops will zerg rush it. I tested it by adding some other provinces from a Westernized Qing, and within 6 months they had factories built, and South Andean culture was in majority as well. Whether its genocide, simple integration or deportation, up to you. But in-game the provinces' populations didn't shrink, in fact they increased, so yeah.
3. I messed with the pop migration files, and this appeared. I have a province where Greeks form like 5% of the population. For the most part, I just exagerated their numbers for the sake of simplicity, otherwise that pie chart would have more ethnicities than Russia on a good day.
4. What thai
5. Ae. That's my oversight, I forgot the Vietnamese exist. Well, probably grouped together with the chinese.

Nah, Korea is Japanese, and has probably 5-6% of its population as Japanese.
