Thanks, I'll take a look.

Edit:
I am unsure what a paint map is, but my goal was trying to make a detailed map in a similar style to what I've seen here.

First time posting one of my maps here, I do alot of them but rarely show 'em off.
I was bored so I did a "Commie Confederacy" thing.

Looks stunning. I imagine the Cold War would be very interesting between the US and CSA considering the proximity to each other. I imagine the border would be one of the most militarized in the world with flatter parts being under 24/7 surveillance by tens of thousands of troops and areas like the Appalachia’s and Rocky’s being protected by a couple of heavily armed forts IMO.

I love the style you used for the map.

^That pretty much depends on the circumstances. I'm not too familiar with the state of Saxony of that time period, but I can see both happening. The 1st option slightly more so, as there you don't get artificial partitions of existing realms.
Correct me if im right but inte the saxon population mostly protestant while its royals are catholic? Could maybe make things avklarad to a degree for suck a union?

EUROPE FOLLOWING THE SECOND PAN-RUSSIAN REVOLUTION
A Napolyonoff Dobrochastnik Timeline

dehn9fe-98204e98-b964-4d60-86e1-e396fe6d6433.png

Napolyonoff Dobrochastnik (наполёноф доброчacтник) [25th July 1768 - 1st June 1824] born in Karelia on the White Sea coast was a renown Russian military and political leader during the Pan-Russian Revolutions, and lead several successful campaigns against Loyalist Forces in Ingria and White Russia. Crowned Emperor of all the Russias, King of Poland, Grand Duke of Finland, Ataman of the Cossacks, and Protector of the Confederation of the Danube from 1801 - 1815, and again in 1816. Considered one of the greatest strategists and commanders in European history he conquered and ruled the majority of Europe during the Russian Containment Wars. He brought liberal reforms to the government, army, navy, and European social hierarchy.

Born to a lesser noble family of Finno-Karelian descent, Napolyonoff became an officer in the Republican Guard during the Second Pan-Russian Revolution. He saved the Patriarch of Russia, who was acting as the Interim Republican Consul of Russia, by leading a bayonet charge into Loyalist insurgent forces in Saint Petersburg. He was rewarded by being granted the title of Ataman of the Cossacks and the Army of the Northern Front at the age of 27. He began his first campaign against the Swedes in Finland and Scandinavia. Defeating the Swedes at Vyborg while outnumbered and heavily under supplied, as well as the famous march on Helsingfors which effectively cut off the entire Swedish Army forcing the defeat of Sweden to the Russian Republic. Napolyonoff found himself at the pinnacle of fame. Following the defeat of Sweden, he organized a military expedition into the Caucasus and Mesopotamia where his army invaded and defeated the Ottoman Empire, leading to the development of modern archaeological preservation methods by the discoveries made in Baghdad and the Euphrates and Tigris rivers.

After returning from Mesopotamia Napolyonoff engineered a coup against the Republic in which he gained the title Primier of the Republic. After defeating the Swedes once more at the Battle of Uleåborg his political position was secured. He granted the Orthodox church religious privileges over all other religions within only White Russia, and Ukraine. In the Baltics, Poland, Ukraine and Caucasus he granted religious freedom to the peoples and emancipated the serfs. In 1801 the Senate of the Peoples appointed Napolyonoff as Emperor, this was reaffirmed by the counselors of the republic.

A series of containment wars were launched by Prussia, Austria, France, and the United Kingdom. Leading to devastating defeats of the European powers and the formation of the Danube Confederation, and other Russian client states. Though Napolyonoff's hubris got the best of him when he decided to march on Paris. The march route went from the Po river valley through the Alps into France in order to bypass the Coalition army at Nice and continue to Paris via Lyon. Unbeknownst to Napolyonoff the French and Italian forces knew of his plan and cut him off at Gurnigel Pass in modern day Switzerland. The Russians took massive attrition passing the Alps in the winter and the final battle of Riggisberg ended in Russian defeat.

Napolyonoff was forced into exile onto the Åland Islands, and the Treaty of Lemburg was signed limiting the Russian borders to Ukraine, White Russia, and Greater Russia. The Romanov Dynasty was restored to the throne and the republic disbanded. Napolyonoff escaped from Åland and regained control of the government in 1816 the allied powers once again formed a containment coalition which ended in the battle of Vinnytsa in July. He was captured and sent into exile in the Swedish colony of
Sankt Bartolomeus in the Caribbean where he died of malaria. In 1825 more than a million people came to witness his funeral in Saint Petersburg. His remains were later moved in 1840 to Karelia where he was born. Monuments stand at Saint Petersburg, Vinnysta, Riggisberg, and Vyborg in his name, and the names of his soldiers.

Another idea I had re: post-Austro-Prussian War Germany and Austria.

Bavaria and Saxony remain outside the North German Confederation. Not wanting to join together due to cultural differences, but realizing that they can't remain independent nations or else risk annexation by a hostile foreign power, Bavaria and Saxony petition the Austrian Empire for admittance into it. However, they push hard for autonomy within the empire as a prerequisite of their admittance. This is, coincidentally, being done at the same time that Hungary and Bohemia are pushing for greater autonomy within the Austrian Empire. Ultimately, this leads to the formation of the United States of Greater Austria some 40 years prior to when Franz Ferdinand proposed the idea IOTL. Don't know exactly what this would entail yet, but likely each state (Bavaria and Saxony included) has their own monarch and parliament to deal with issues within each state's borders and they ultimately answer to the Austrian Emperor.

One thing I'm still not sure about with this option is what happens to the Palatinate. If it remains with Bavaria, then it's incredibly likely (if not certain) that Germany would allow free unimpeded travel between the Palatinate and Bavaria across German land in order to remain on Austria's good side. However, would the Palatinate in this scenario be content to be dragged along with Bavaria and join the USGA? I personally doubt it, The other options are either: the Palatinate petitioning for separation from Austria and annexation by Germany, likely with Germany financially compensating Austria; the Palatinate petitioning for separation and becoming an independent Palatinate Republic; or, in a wild scenario, Austria tries to form a better relationship with France and offers to sell the Palatinate to France. Personally, I'm leaning closer to the Palatinate separating and petitioning for annexation by Germany, but I wanted to at least mention every possibility to get a clearer idea of the plausibility of this general "early USGA + Bavaria and Saxony" idea.

3 maps based on a (kind of unfinished) small council list I made.

1st map showing the main subdivisions of Westeros. Which is basically the same as canon with three differences. First one: House Dayne of Starfall are Lord Paramounts of Dorne, House Martell only has its direct territories. Second one: the Gift is part of the 7 Kingdoms along with the lands on the Wildlings with the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch as the Lord Paramount. Third one: Stepstones is a part of the 7 Kingdoms with the Lord Paramount being a Targaryen descending from Aegon the Younger (OTL/Canon's Aegon III. ITTL the Royal family descends from Lucerys Velaryon).

2nd map shows side in the war following the death of the king and succession of 5 year old. 4 factions fight for the regency. The first is the Late King's Hand, Lord Reynald Reyne of Castamere. He has the support of Lord Lyonel "Laughing Storm" Baratheon of Stormlands and a large part of the Crownlands. Lord Whent of Harrenhal (pre-war Master of Law) is also a follower of his. He also managed to get Lord Bracken (because Lord Blackwood had declared for the Princess) and Lord Yronwood (promising Overlordship of Dorne) on his side. Lord Yronwood also managing to get a not insignificant number of Dornish lords to follow him. The 2nd is the new King's older sister Rhaenys Velaryon who has the support of houses directly sworn to Dragonstone (Velaryon of Driftmark, Sunglass, Bar Emmon, Celtigar) and also Massey, Darklyn of Duskendale (after some negotiation) and various Cracklaw houses. She managed to get Riverlands (mostly unified other than Stone Hedge and Harrenhal) under the Tullys with a marriage promise to House Tully, House Florent (promising Highgarden and the Reach) and a bunch of "Salty" Dornish houses led by House Martell (promises of Autonomy, Princely title and unique law (basically the same deal Dorne has with the Iron Throne in Canon)). 3rd faction is the self proclaimed Regency Council lead by Luthor Tyrell, Lord of the Reach and pre-war Master of Coin with support from the Prince Rhaegar Targaryen of the Stepstones (Master of Ships), Lord Paramount of Iron Isles and a small group of Dornish houses lead by House Uller (Ullers having been promised overlordship of Dorne). 4th being Lord Gaemon Lannister, Lord Paramount of the West. He had marriage ties with Daynes, getting the support of the Dornish who did not join other factions, got Hightowers and their vassals on the promise of more lands and Paramouncy, North on promising to marry Princess Rhaenys to the Heir to the North and Vale through various bribes and promises. The Wall on the other hand declared neutrality under Lord Commander Duncan "the Tall". Lord Gaemon also orchestrated a treaty wherein the participants agreed on the neutrality of King's Landing.

Throughout the war the Princess and Lord Lannister reached n agreement where she would be the Regent but he would be Hand and that she would agree to marry the heir to the North. Lannister-Princess alliance manage to defeat the Council and the Hand. The results are the 3rd map.,

Firstly Lord Whent is made to take the Black, since he had no heirs Harrenhal and it's territories are given to House Tully. House Bracken is also attainted, House Blackwood taking their lands. Rhaegar is made to abdicate and take the Black but his heirs keep the Stepstones as a Paramountcy. House Hightower gains the vassalige of several houses including Redwyne and Beesbury while being made the Lords Paraount of the Honeywine. House Florent is given Highgarden and other Tyrell lands, along with Lord Paramountcy of the Reach. The vassalage of some border regions (like houses Oakheart and Rowan) are transferred to the West while Tumbleton is attached to the Crownlands. The Lord Paramouncy also becomes "of the Mander" rather than "of Reach". Florent's do gain the vassalage of some Stormlander houses to make up for their losses. A large part of northern Stormlands is also detached from Storm's End and attached to the Crownlands. House Dayne keeps the Lord Paramoutcy of Dorne but Dornish Law is restored and House Martell is allowed to call themselves "Prince". House Reyne is also attainted and Castamere and other Reyne lands are seized by House Lannister.

The actual post:
So there was this idea I once had. Didn't look at it for some time (I am quite sure it has been a year). Decided just now to post it. Made some typo and grammatical corrections here and there but it is mostly untouched since then. As can be seen there are some holes, but I don't really have time to fill them. Anyway for posterity's sake Here it is:

The Regency War (circa 230 AC)

The PoD is that Blacks win the Dance of Dragons pretty quickly and from the line of Rhaenyra Targaryen’s firstborn Jacaerys Velaryon. Now about 100 years after the Dance Westeros is experiencing another great civil war, the war to become the young kings regent. ...Lord Paramount Gaemon Lannister is another of the self-proclaimed regents and the one who suggested the treaty of Harrenhal in which the claimants agreed on several rules the follow during the war. He is the richest candidate and is going to use it. The last side in this war is the Regency Council consisting of several important people including the Master of the Ships, has the largest fleet and army of all the sides involved.

King on the Iron Throne: Aegon, fourth of that name, of house Velaryon, King of Westeros and the Stepstones, Shield of his people, Protector of the Faith [1]
Queen Consort: none at the moment
Princess of Dragonstone: Rhaenys Velaryon “The Flower of Westeros”; Princess Regent and Lady Defender of Westeros [2]

Protector of the Realm: Magnar Tormund of Thenn, Guardian of King’s Landing [3]

Lord-Commander of the Goldcloaks: Ser Steffon “the Knight of the Crows” Morrigen [4]

The Small Council
Hand of the King:
Reynald Reyne, Lord of Castamere; Lord Regent [5]
Master of Laws: Konrad Whent, Lord of Harrenhall [6]
Master of Coin: Luthor Tyrell, Lord Paramount of the Reach, Lord of Highgarden [7]
Master of Ships: Rhaegar Targaryen, Prince of Stepstones, Lord of Bloodstone, Warden of the Seas [8]
Master of Whisperers: Ser Brynden “Bloodraven” Blackwood [9]
Grand Maester: Anders [10]

Lords Paramount
Lord of the North:
Rickard Stark, Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North[11]
Lord of the Riverlands: Walder Tully, Lord of Riverrun [12] (princess)
Lord of the Vale: Artys Arryn, Lord of the Eyrie, Defender of the Vale, Warden of the East[13] (west)
Lord of the Iron Islands: Sigfryd Greyjoy, Lord Reaper of Pyke [14] (council)
Lord of the Reach: Luthor Tyrell, Lord of Highgarden, High Marshal of the Reach, the Warden of the South.
Lord of the Westerlands: Gaemon Lannister, Lord of Casterly Rock, Warden of the West, Shield of Lannisport; ‘Lord Regent and the Hand of the King’ [15] (self)
Lord of the Stormlands: Lyonel “the Laughing Storm” Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End [16]
Lord of the Dorne: Lucifer “the Morningstar” Dayne, Lord of Starfall, the Sword of the Morning [17]
Lord of The Wall: Ser Duncan the Tall, Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, High Magnar Beyond-the-Wall, Warden of the Wall, Commander and Lord of Castle Black[18]
Prince of the Stepstones: Rhaegar Targaryen, Lord of Bloodstone, Warden of the Seas

Other Velaryons: Aurane Velaryon, Lord of the Tides, Master of Driftmark [19]

[1a]: King Aegon is only a boy of 5.

[1b]: Traditional style of Targaryen Kings (King of Andals, First Men etc.) were abolished after King Jacaerys’s conquest of Dorne and replaced with the style Aegon the Conqueror used when he was first crowned by his sister-wife Rhaenys.

[2a]: The Princess is 13 namedays King’s elder and some think this is the reason for her bid to become regent, to rule the kingdom she sees as rightfully hers. She is currently unmarried and is considered one of the most beautiful maidens in all of Westeros. She is beloved by the smallfolk and has the most foreign support as foreigners consider her to be the easiest to manipulate out of the potential regents.

[2b]: After Queen Rhaenyra I.’s victory in the Dance of Dragons it was decried that gender not the be considered in the line of succession. But in King Jacaerys “the Strong”s Conquest of Dorne Dornishmen ambushed and killed his younger brother (then) Prince of Dragonstone Joffrey Velaryon. The King was enraged and because Dornish succession had the same laws about gender he changed it so no matter the age sons would come before daughters (daughters still came before brothers etc.).

[3]: In the Treaty of Harrenhall it was agreed by claimants that the capital was to be left alone and to ensure this Magnar Tormund Thenn one of the strongest vassals of The Wall was given the titles and duties of Protector of the Realm (will be commander of all armies of Westeros in an event of a foreign invasion. (The sides in the war agreed to stop fighting each other and support and follow orders of Magnar Tormund in an event of an invasion.)) and Guardian of the Capital (he is to defend the Capital in an event of one of the Claimants breaking the treaty and thinking of winning the war easily by taking the capital.). He has an undisputable reputation of honour and loyalty.

[4]: Currently subordinate of the Guardian of the Capital but is truly loyal to Lord Whent.

[5]: Lord Reyne is one of the Regents-to-be and by precedent and laws the legitimate one. For that reason he has the support of the High Septon and the Faith.

[6]: Lord Konrad Whent is an infamous man. While he made Harrenhal one of the safest places in the realm, he was especially cruel to the lawbreakers. In his lands the punishment for theft is losing your hand. But he possessed a keen sense of Justice and if the thief really needed to steal Lord Konrad is known to provide for him and his kin (after cutting the hand of course). For these reasons he was made Master of Laws and in his tenure the crime rate in the city not only dropped substantially, the City Watch was also freed of corruption. Because of his adherence to the Law he supports Lord Reynald in his bid to become Regent.

[7]: Lord Luthor Tyrell is one of the members of the self-proclaimed-Regency-Council. He is the one of the most prominent members. He plans to become the Hand of the King when the Council wins. Unfortunately the Reach isn’t united behind him as house Hightower supports Gaemon Lannister while house Florent supports the Princess.

[8]: Prince Rhaegar is a member of the self-proclaimed regency council. And he has brought the royal navy with him. House Targaryen of Stepstones descends from Aegon the Younger.

[9]: Lord Bloodraven supports the princess. His reasons for this are unknown.

[10]: Formerly of house Yronwood, currently neutral.

[11]: Lord Rickard supports Lord Gaemon because he promised Princess Rhaenys will be wed Theon Stark, the heir to Winterfell, once he becomes the Regent.

[12]

[13]

[14]

[15]

[16]: Lord Lyonel supports Lord Reynald’s claim to Regency. Most of the Stormlords are united behind him.

[17]: Lord Paramount of Dorne Lucifer Dayne supports Lord Gaemon’s bid for the regency. Lord Mors Yronwood supports Lord Reynald for the reward of the Overlordship of Dorne while Lord Oberyn Uller supports the Regency Council for the same reward. Lord Trystane Nymeros Martell of Sunspear follows the Princess for the reward of Rhoynish Law and House Martell being granted the title of “Prince of Dorne” along with the Lord Paramouncy.

[18]: After conquest of a large amount of Land Beyond the Wall (as far north as the Thennlands) by King Daemon I. “the Last Dragon” Night’s Watch became a Kingdom along with all lands beyond the wall with Lord Commander being the Lord Paramount. Current Lord Paramount of the Wall, Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, High Magnar Beyond-the-Wall Ser Duncan “the Tall” is currently neutral.

[19]: Aurane Velaryon descends from the line of legitimated bastard Addam of Hull. He supports the Princess.

The actual post:

Very interesting.

First off, what became of the Greens themselves after the Blacks quick victory? Aegon II and his brothers and children? (Aemond I doubt would survive.)

How exactly did Rhaenyra and after her son Jacaerys rule?

Just what happened to Duncan the Tall to be not just a member of the Night's Watch, but the Lord Commander?

It sucks to be the Reach, and the Stormlands, but it interesting to see the Crownlands gain such territory, same for the Hightower fortunes turn around for the better as do the Florent gain the rest of the Reach and some of the Stormlands. And the Westerlands are enjoying themselves as well.
