Ruled from Bost, the Solar Empire before its collapse was one of the most important empires of the Middle East due to its establishment of the Church of Zun which saw popularity within Syria, Central Asia, northern Iran, Afghanistan, Gujarat and along the Indus. It was created by the Zunbils who were an originally Afghan family that adopted Assyrian customs. At its height, the Solar Empire stretched from Benghazi in the west to the Himalayas in the east; an area where the Zunbils seeked to further expand but were instead distracted by the powerful Jalilids of Persia, Egypt and Arabia. Above is a map of the Solar Empire before its collapse.
1 January 738 - 21 December 774: Satrap Jumofuta I Zunbil of Zabulistan
The first seeds of Zunist expansion was planted by Jumofuta I. His slight pushes east during his long reign would inspire similar militaristic thoughts amongst his successors. He passed away aged 63 due to cancer.
21 December 774 - 14 February 801: Sultan Barha I the Fat Zunbil of Sistan
Barha I succeeded his father aged 41. He was to be the first Sunni Zunbil due to his conversion to Islam following an Abbasid invasion of his kingdom. As a vassal of the Abbasids, he gained the favour of the Caliphs and rose in power becoming the Sultan of Sistan. His greatess claim to fame, however, would not be this. Rather it would be his search for immortality which left him frail after a fast which almost killed the Sultan. What would instead kill him was Great Pox which struck him down aged 69.
14 Febuary 801 - 16 September 828: Sultan Rumofuda I the Terrible Zunbil of Sistan and Transoxiana
Rumofuda I succeeded his father aged 36. He would invade Transoxiana seizing great amounts of lands in Central Asia whilst also crowning himself as Sultan of the new lands. Like his father, Rumofuda I shared the favour of the Caliphs and thus received Samarra as a gift. Here Rumofuda I would construct a magnificent palace. He wouldn't see it completed though due to his death from natural causes aged 64. Even as an old man Rumofuda I was said to be a muscular individual with a great military mind.
16 September 828 - 12 June 848: Sultan Mehmud I the Fat Zunbil of Sistan and Transoxiana
Mehmud I succeeded his father aged 31. He was a muscular man like his father and was infact more of a military expert than Rumofuda I. However, public opinion of him was damaged by his homosexual tendencies; the fact that he had memorised the Quran did nothing to stop claims of apostasy. This negative view of Mehmud I saw him assassinated aged 62 after a series of conquests within Iran.
12 June 848 - 21 April 872: Sultan Sahryar I the Wise Zunbil of Sistan and Transoxiana
Sahryar I succeeded his father aged 30. He was an intelligent individual who successfully expanded Zunbil control into Oman, Syria and Hedjaz due to his skilled military mind. Nevertheless, he still remained a vassal of the Caliph and eventually died aged 55 due to the flu.
21 April 872 - 8 November 875: Shah Mehmud II the Holy Zunbil of Sistan and Transoxiana
Mehmud II succeeded his father aged 34 and is often regarded as one of the greatest Zunbils. He declared independence from the Muzaffaraddins following the overthrow of Caliph Qawurd the Tormentor by the new Caliph, Hasan the Conqueror Hasanid. Mehmud II following his declaration of independence crowned himself as Shah rather than Sultan and declared war on the new Caliph to gain the position for his son, Sahryar, since he had inherited a weak claim from his mother. Mehmud II, however, was assassinated whilst fighting in Iraq aged just 38. He was an intelligent individual with a mind for battle; before the rebellion he had conquered southern Gujarat and it could be expected that had he survived, he would have conquered even more lands.
8 November 875 - 21 November 894: Caliph Sahryar I the Ill-Ruler Zunbil, Shahanshah of the Arabs
Sahryar I succeeded his father aged 7. His father's army would carry on fighting in Iraq gaining the Caliphate. Sahryar I would also be declared as Shahanshah of the Prophet. His reign was destined to be a great one. He was a military genius, very intelligent and a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad, however, he was struck down by cancer aged 26.
21 November 894 - 8 May 951: Emperor Darab I the Able Zunbil of the Sun, Emperor of the Arabs and Persians
Darab I succeeded his father aged 9 and would go on to be the greatest Zunbil monarch. His mother was the Assyrian, Samantha, who taught her son the ways of her people causing him to adopt Assyrian culture and abandon much of Afghani culture. He would also be brought up by his mother into becoming a scholar. This scholarly pursuit brought him into contact with his Zunist ancestors and inspired by the old faith, he abolished the Caliphate and converted to Zunism before waging a series of conquests that ended with much of the Middle East, southern Central Asia and Egypt being conquered. He would then move east into India and conquer Multan, renamed to Zunabad, where he declared the creation of the Church of Zun. The Great Temple of the Sun would begin to be constructed in the capital of Bost; the Temple was a magnificent complex which acted as the home of High Priest Israel Qatwa. The Temple Complex would also house the headquarters of the Knights of the Sun led by Grandmaster Vahusdan. During a military campaign in India, Darab I, poisoned himself due to the realm's hatred of him. What he did would put a stain on his great rule for centuries to come for he had castrated all his sons instead of his eldest, Darab, as well as many grandsons in order to establish a stable line of succession. He also would kill many in his family to ensure that the empire was not torn apart following his death. He put the fate of the empire before his own legacy.
8 May 951 - 1 October 958: Emperor Darab II the Tenacious Zunbil of the Sun, Emperor of the Arabs and Persians
Darab II succeeded his father aged 38. He was like his father an erudite and military genius. However, unlike his father he was a bastard child and a member of the occult. During the seven years of his reign, Darab II slowly turned into an ugly, frail lunatic said to be possessed by the devil. Eventually he would die due to measles aged 45.
1 October 958 - 16 August 965: Emperor Yahballaha I the Sword of the Sun Zunbil of the Sun, Emperor of the Arabs and Persians
Yahballaha I succeeded his father aged 19. He was a physically strongman with a great skill in diplomacy, however, like Mehmud I his legitimacy would be tainted by him being a homosexual. He would descend into insanity following a bout of great pox and was killed by an arrow to eye during the Battle of Kafirkot against the Pratiharans. He was aged just 26 and had left behind no children.
16 August 965 - 23 March 980: Empress Mahalia I Zunbil of the Sun, Empress of the Arabs and Persians
Mahalia I succeeded her older brother aged 24. She was married to High Priest Chozai thus giving her the total support of the Church of Zun. She would expand further into India and hold a great celebration in Bost during her 20th year on the Solar Throne since that year coincided with the founding of the Empire of the Sun. She would place a vassal king on the throne of Delhi and be forced to defend against a Crusade called by Pope Benedictus III before being blown up in an assassination plot aged 39.
23 March 980 - 12 October 980: Emperor Oran I Zunbil of the Sun, Emperor of the Arabs and Persians
Oran I succeeded his mother aged 14. He recalled his mother's final invasion of India due to devastating losses and this sign of weakness saw him assassinated whilst out on a hunt by the end of the year before his 15th birthday.
12 October 980 - 17 October 988: Empress Marfa I the Sword of God Zunbil of the Sun, Empress of the Arabs and Persians
Marfa I succeeded her younger brother aged 16. She was married to general, Bertil af Munso, who was a nobleman from Scandinavia. Bertil was a great general and on the 24 November 981, he sacked Rome forcing Pope Benedictus III to end his Crusade against the Zunists. He would then travel to Saxony with the army used to sack Rome and conquer the Saxons crowning himself as King of the Saxons before returning back to Bost to give news of his victories to his wife. Marfa I would give him permission to attack the Danes, however, she would never receive the news of his success since she was blown up like her mother. This time though, the plotters were known with the chief plotter being King Shahdost Karen of Khorasan, a Solar vassal. Marfa I was only 24 and her name would be riddled with scandal due to her murder of her daughters Martha, Mahalia and Kitra in order to establish a secure line of succession.
17 October 988 - 2 September 990 [onwards]: Empress Marfa II Zunbil of the Sun, Empress of the Arabs and Persians
Marfa II succeeded her mother aged 6. During her reign, her father Bertil completed his war against the Danes but even he wouldn't be able to crush the rebellion which caused the empire to collapse on the 2 September 990. King Ali I Jalilid would declare himself as the Sunni King of the Jalilids with his territory spanning over Western Iran, Egypt, Israel and Ethiopia. Muzaffaraddin II Jalilid crowned himself as the Sunni King of Arabia whilst in Syria, the Zunist, Abdul-Wahab I Sualmid declared himself King. The Sunni, Hooshyar Karen, was declared King in Tabaristan and Central Asia whilst on the Sistan coast was the Nutkanis under the Panjabi Sunni, Xwedadad Nutkani. Following this great disaster, the Solar Empire would turn its sights to the east towards India where they seeked to carve out a new domain from their lands left in Eastern Iran and Afghanistan.
