Should I make a map where Europe remains the dominant power well into the 21st century, or should I make a map in a world where Demi-Gods a la Percy Jackson actually exist?

The first one.

Speaking of map ideas, I'm thinking of making a series where I either wank or screw five countries from a random nation generator. Anyone interested in that?

I would be, but only if you would enjoy doing it.

Both! I would be interested in both, but for now, Dominant Europe (with some Reds of course!) would be my priority.

Also an interesting idea! Yes, I would support that!

Thousand Week Reich - My idea of Europe in 2000 [Not Canon]

Hi! After making a dozen TWR maps i decided to make a different one, definitively less pretty. It's my vision of what europe could become in 2000, 40 years after the collapse of the Reich. It is NOT CANON, for comparison you can see Mekul's idea here. ( He is definitively more optimistic) Rest of the scenario -https://www.reddit.com/r/AP246/comments/7ch604/the_thousandweek_reich_a_realistic_nazi_victory/

And its HOI4 mod in development - https://www.reddit.com/r/twrmod/

And thanks to the 2K-Bam team (@ST15RM and @Klime) for the base map!

Is the United States in the Atlantic Union or are they neutral?

Nice map btw

Demi-gods for what pantheon? Do we get new gods?
I’ll be making this map second, but when I say a la Percy Jackson, I just meant that the Gods would interact with humanity in the same way and the major institutions of that universe would apply to the map. There would be more children of the God’s than just the Big 12 and the minor gods included in the PJ novels.

Just Greek gods then? I'll vote for option one.

The base map was created by @Gian, and used with their permission.
The timeline this map is based in is Devon Moore's The Great White South, and can be found here at Alternative History Wikia.
None of the writing and graphics I post in relation to the Great White South are canonical, but do have his approval to be posted.
The request for Allied intervention was accepted the United Kingdom, France, and the United States, but didn't arrive soon enough to prevent communist agitation and outright rebellion. Called the "Red Army of Antarctica" by themselves, and "The Rash" by the Whites of Antarctic Russians, by 1919 they had controlled almost the entire Ross Gulf coast and surrounded the de facto capital Russian Antarctica. White forces managed to evacuate to Mirny closer to the Border of British East Antarctica, passing by the Midnight Coast Oblast as it again erupts into violence in response to attempts at Russianization of the population.

Notes:
1) The White forces have begun a retreat from Yuzhnaya Zemlya, having lost the Russian- and Creole-Majority settlements to the Red Army of Antarctica
2) Communism was very popular within the mining towns of the Trans-Antarctic Mountains, little do they know their siege of Novopetrograd is about to be broken by forces from across the sea...
3) Descendant of settlers from the days of Nederlands Middernachtkust and the Boers deported from the Cape of Good Hope have been generally complacent under Russian rule, but attempts at russianization to combat communist sympathies have produced the opposite result

Below 60 Degrees South...

Hail to the Soviet Socialist Republic of West Antarctica!

Inspired by how awesome Baconheimer's take on a DBWI was, I decided to do one of my own.

[ A Turn for the Worse

Now, I know it's a MOD that's quite often done, but I decided to take my own, rather maltopic spin on it. In 1676, years before Virginian independence, back when he was merely a ragabound trapesing through the Virginian countryside and fighting aboriginals, Nathaniel Bacon dies of dysentery. His merry band of supporters fragments after a few piecemeal declarations from the English governor regarding aboriginal threats in the countryside.

The first major consequence of this (other than, of course, the delay of the outlawing of slavery) is the near total destruction of the New England colony at the hands of aboriginal King Philip. IOW three quarters of the English colonists perished at hands of King Philip. Here, it's closer to 95%. Without King Bacon leading a defense from Virginia, reinforcements all the way from England simply take too long, and many Puritans find it simpler to migrant south to Virginia, or as IOW migrate into the Appalachian Mountains. The end result is a repeat of Roanoke, but on a much, much larger scale. Boston is razed to the ground. England is humiliated. France rejoices, and slowly settles the area over the coming century.

England then, is much more dependent on Virginia than in our world. Virginian cotton, here still underpinned by legalized slavery, keeps the English Empire from collapsing for the time. Much of English expansion further west, here directed and planned thousands of miles away in London, is done with the aim of securing good plantation lands, leaving more temperate climates to France. Technological advances like the cotton gin actually reinforce slavery's profitability, and much to London's horror the medieval system of feudalism finds itself recreated in Virginia, in a sort of dark tank fission.

There is still a successful slave revolt in the Caribbean, with the help of local freemen, but no matter how successful Hayiti (*Hispaniola, the name comes from an aboriginal name for the island) is as a prosperous mercantile republic, it's size simply limits its ability to project its vision to the world.

As IOW, there is a 19th century scramble for the interior of North America, however here it is run in a little more lopsided fashion. There are no interior settler states to fight, and the aboriginals are worse armed as a result. France gives her colonies self rule under a nephew of the King. Similarly Liberal England tries to encourage the gradual removal the Virginian Caste system, but is met with heavy refusal on the part of the local aristocracy. When Parliament convinces the Crown to put stricter pressure on Virginia, a revolt arises among those landed elite. They meet, crown their own King, and block off English blockades. After a few years, London at last recognizes an independent "Empire of Virginia" in 1848.

The new nation is a bit of a pariah on the world stage. It long continues slavery (arguably up until the present day, under other names) engages in border disputes with New France, and generally isolates itself into backwardness. New France is a truer superpower than any North American state is in our world, but unable to defend cosmopolitan or liberal sensibilities with an angry ritpick state which is eventually solarpid capable breathing fire on its south side.

War, fortunately, breaks out far less here than IOW. Tensions between New France and Virginia simmer down over the years, and at present they are almost cordial. Mejico and Further Siberia undergo revolutions are this world's largest radical states, and in the modern world New France finds itself uneasily de facto allied with Virginia (though not sharing a common defense system). Further Siberia and Mejico have their own disputes over leadership of the international radical order, but for the moment they are outwardly presenting a common front against New France and Europe's liberality. Virginia for its part, has an alliance with the Russians, which, owing to weakened international pressure, also has an ongoing system of serfdom. Virginia and Russia hope to create a "third way" one day, but for now must work with liberal powers and even Republics like Hayiti to oppose the Ptochocratic menace.

This world may see North America having less border disputes or "rambunctious" states, but solarpid armed standoffs where even the good guys have to side with modern-day slave holders isn't an improvement. ]

Screwank

(I might continue this if I feel like this series is a good idea to continue.)

I've picked 5 countries out of this random country generator, and will either screw or wank them TTL. This update will all be wanks of sorts. I try to keep the PoD as late as possible, and if possible keep all these nations in the same TL.
This Update's nations are Austria, Jordan, Lithuania, Timor-Leste, Palau

Austria

unknown.png
During late 1918, Austria's situation in the war was not looking good. Despite being on the winning side, ethnic tensions in the nation were reaching a boiling point. It had only been thanks to German intervention in the nation that the Austro-Hungarians survived--well not exactly. Soon after the war, the Hungarians were agitating for an independent state. While Austria could barely keep South Slavic and Bohemian separatists under control, Hungary was a whole other level. The conflict turned into a full blown civil war, though Austria was forced to face the music and grant Hungary its independence. It did gain Croatia-Slavonia during the conflict though. Austria soon recovered from the war, and weathered ethnic strife for the rest of the century. It went through surviving the Great Depression, frequent attempts by German nationalists to annex Cisleithania into Germany (shown in red), and the Cold War, as the Soviet Union attempted many times to fund independence movements in this multi-ethnic nation. And unlike Hungary, which under the same pressures ended up losing most of Transylvania and parts of Banat to Romanian and Serbian independence movements, Austria is lucky for such a thing not to have happened to them. Austria today is one of the most powerful countries in Central Europe, and a power player in the Balkans. (I'd note that Magyarization over an extra century has made it to such a point that an area similar to Hungary's 1942 borders is now considered part of the core of the nation, so Hungarians make up a higher percentage of the population then a similar country from OTL territory).

Jordan

upload_2018-8-2_22-4-3.png
The Ottoman Empire had fallen, and Europe took advantage by carving up colonies and mandates out of the former Ottoman territory. Down South, The Hashemite Kingdom of the Hejaz curried favor with the British, becoming a strategic ally in the region, and also helping to curb the influence of the expansionist Emirate of Nejd, a much more fundamentalist state which the British feared may be less cooperative. Hejaz is the site of both Mecca and Medina, and so is very important for Muslims undertaking the Hajj, which the nation currently runs. Despite many conflicts with the Nejd, looking to gain these two cities, Hejaz remains a bastion of moderatism in the Middle East, and a counterweight to their fundamentalist neighbor.
(I know it's not technically a Greater Jordan, but it's still ruled by the Hashemites so it counts kinda.)

Lithuania

[SPOILER/]
The newly formed Kingdom of Lithuania saw the return of an independent Lithuanian state for the first time in centuries. The nation was granted all Lithuanian majority land outside of the German Empire, as well as Courland and much of Semigallia to the North. (Latvian nationalism wasn't nearly as strong as that of Lithuanian nationalism, and so when carving up Eastern Europe, a Latvian state wasn't created). To the South, Lithuania was granted much of the Vilnius region, which was historically claimed by Lithuania despite a large Polish population. Part of the reason for this was to ensure that Lithuania would be dependent on the German Empire to protect it from any irredentist Polish claims, and to keep either side from focusing hatred onto Germany itself. Lithuania still has these borders to this day, and the Latvian population has been undergoing slow Lithuanianization as schools mostly teach in the Lithuanian language, and only local mass media is in Latvian, while nationwide Lithuanian is the standard. Intra-national migration has also helped in this regard. Poles also are either assimilating or moving back to Poland, meaning that as of this year, all regions of Lithuania are majority Lithuanian.

Timor-Leste
unknown.png

Sukarno invaded Portuguese Community member Timor-Leste in the 70s, though one thing he didn't expect was for Portugal to actually step in to intervene in the nation. After a short war, East Timor's independence was restored, now with the entire island ruled by them. Though now they go by the name Timor, (Leste means East).

Palau
(Image here because the file size is too big to upload)

The territory now owned by the Federated States of the Marianas, Caroline, and Marshall Islands used to be Spanish territory until the Spanish American War. After the American capture of the Philippines, their unprofitable Micronesian holdings were eventually sold to Britain. America eventually occupied these islands during the Great War, and at Versailles, gained this area, now called "The American Mandate of the East Indies". The U.S. military set up a base on Koror in the Western Palau district. The island gained in population from personnel and territory residents working on the new military base. Koror became the unofficial capital of the Pacific mandate, a designation which became official after the mandate gained independence in the 60s. Koror and its surrounding islands eventually broke off from the Palau district (Today named the Western Caroline District), the town forming the "Capital District". (Koror is the largest city on Palau, so this counts too technically).
