HUMAN COMMITTEE OF EXTRATERRESTRIAL AFFAIRS (HCEA):

As a fellow Europa fan, I've got to say this is dope as hell. That's a fun sort of aesthetic you're building off of, and there's a lot of room to be creative in a raygun-SF setting like that. What are your plans for Titan as you go forward? Industrial smog-world, space-Gulf resource goldrush zone, or something even weirder?

Not sure, though I definitely have the Titaneans down. They're kinda grey-aliens, but with hair and four eyes (two sets for different visions, maybe heat waves), and also large, large pointed ears with long and sensitive hairs that detect sound. They had long, broad noses and I never drew mouths on them (though I'm not saying they don't have any). I also, looking at early "notes" (doodles I made years ago), had a species of Ostrich-esque bird that had four wings and flew with ease (due to the low gravity). Titan herself is not that well defined yet, though I imagine the culture to be Arabic-based: tribal, trade-heavy, and somewhat religious. Like in many Earth civilizations, wealth can be seen in the weight of Titaneans, where the wealthier are typically fatter (especially the rich aliens' wives). I also think I had something akin to a sometimes-winter type deal, though I'm not to sure how it'd work. There are many hydrocarbon-based body of waters, though.

HOORAY!!!! another exercise in stupidity :extremelyhappy:

On June 5th, 2018, and ending on September 7th of that same year, a radio operator in Sapporo, Japan received a series of messages from an unknwn source.
These signals were garbled, with sentences being cut off at random, with what could be made out seeming to tell a tale of dark forces and occult practices around the world unleashing... something upon their world. It was unclear what some of them were saying, leading to gaps in information, with vague mention of strange countries sized areas on all continents that rendered surrounding lands uninhabitable, and pockets of similar energy gathering across the globe. The last transmission however was almost unusually clear, as if something wanted us to hear it.
The transmission is as follows: It's not stopping, *static* seems to be safe. I know you probably didn't here much of the *static* transmissions, but... somehow, I know this one will get through, so with that I just *static* warning; don't meddle in what *static* understand.

the_thirty_original_colonies_by_spiritswriter123-dcnjfte.png

One-off, possibly two-off Alternate History Map of the United States of America (or these United States of Atlanta, since America wouldn't quite fit). The original intention was to have a scenario where Ireland, the first colony of the English Empire, joins the American Revolution, but the scenario eventually expanded to have basically the entire British Empire outside of India, Africa, and Great Britain itself was in open revolt. These 29/30 colonies, depending on if you count Belize or not, would form a union, one that's certainly a lot less stable than OTL.

These colonies would include many fierce confederalist colonies who would resist in attempted centralization, most notably Quebec, Ireland, and the small Caribbean islands. the French Quebecois and Irish would resist being brought right back under Anglo-Saxon rule, and the Islands would resist having the influence and rule of the much more populous Continent. As time would go on, this confederalist attitude would only stiffen, and attempts to federalize would be limited. What would begin as an Ameri-wank TL would turn into an ameri-screw in all but area, as "America" without a central government or centralized economy would be unable to spread it's influence across the world, at least not efficiently. America would likely spread from sea to shining sea, with the Oregon territory no doubt falling into American hands, but who knows if they would get their hands on Northern Mexico with a limited army, or would survive a Civil War (but at the same time, who's to say that civil war would ever come).

Fantastic work!

Gracias!

When was the apocalypse?

2034

I would imagine that Mexico or other nations would occupy some territory, if only for safety reasons. Though maybe they were also hit by the bombs.

Mexico wasn't hit as badly as America was, but the government Acapulco is still working on restoring its control to all of Mexico, let alone think about occupying parts of the USA.

Is the Progressive Republic of Acadiana socialist/left-leaning?

Think modern-day Robespierre if he were a Bernie-bro.

Will you touch upon overseas US bases and deployments? I imagine some would have survived.

Any American military base would automatically have been a target, but quite a few soldiers and sailors did survive overseas, and they do show up to play a role.

No worries. I knew it was bound to spread and eventually take on a life of it's own. Could you possibly send me a link to the place you found it? I'm curious ^^
Certainly went around fast. Come to think of it, is there a thread in here to post other people's work? Mostly put into the proposals and Bad Educational threads these days.

Here's something of a map based on the adaptation of the SpaceBattles Forum RP Sieg Zeon that I've been working on. The DeviantArt version can be found here.

Based on the map seen in Turn 26, and also on this UC map made previously, it's meant to show just how far the Principality of Zeon has come in the RP's version of the One Year War, just as it's approaching the point in the timeline where the stalemate actually happens.

Those familiar with UC Gundam lore may recognize not only some of the nods to other Gundam works, including Zeta Gundam, MS IGLOO and Gundam: The Origin. But that while many aspects remain the same with canon at this point, certain events and details are already beginning to make themselves felt, and would only be amplified further as the RP progresses. All the same, it should also give a general idea of how the canon OYW (more or less) played out over that same timeframe.

And that said, best to be safe than sorry. This is a work of fiction. Mobile Suit Gundam belongs to Sunrise, Namco-Bandai and other respective owners.

Hope you enjoy!

Sieg Zeon: Before the Stalemate

UC 0079
It is the year 0079 of the Universal Century. A half-century has passed since Earth began moving its burgeoning population into gigantic orbiting space colonies. A new home for mankind, where people are born and raised.

And die.

Five months ago, the cluster of colonies furthest from the Earth, called Side 3 or Munzo which had proclaimed itself the Principality of Zeon, launched a war of independence against the Earth Federation. A combination of events conspired to bring about this, spanning decades. Whether one blames the proliferation of Zeon Zum Deikun's views on Spacenoids and "Newtypes," or more specifically on the infamous Bardot Policy that brought about an economic embargo, in one way or another anger towards the Earthnoid elites, whose souls were weighed down by gravity, had continued to grow, soon making conflict all but inevitable. Something recognized by Col. M'Quve when he succeeded in having his United Maintenance Plan (the mass standardization of Zeon's production and development) approved in UC 0078, as well as his benefactors in the ruling Zabi family.

Realizing the immense might of the Federation, however decadent it was, in the preceding years Zeon turned to utilizing Minovsky Physics (which screws with electromagnetic radiation and radar but can also be use for beam weaponry and ulta-compact fusion reactors) and a revolutionary innovation: the Mobile Suit. Equipped with Active Mass Balance Auto-Control (AMBAC) systems and designed with Minovsky Particles in mind, these humanoid weapons would soon upend "conventional" and speculative warfare as it had been understood since the 20th and 21st Centuries in the old Anno Domini calendar. Even as those MS overwhelmed various enemy installations, however, the upper echelons of Zeon's high command, at the behest of Gihren Zabi, looked to a cruel yet audacious plan to end the war early: Operation British, a colony drop targeted at the Earth Federation's main military HQ in Jaburo, somewhere in South America. The scheme failed, the colony dropping instead on (and erasing) Sydney, Australia. 200 Million died as a result, with many more following suit in coming the days and weeks.

People were horrified by the indescribable atrocities that had been committed in the name of independence. Still, faced with the bulk of the Earth Federation Space Force (EFSF) threatening their Homeland, the denizens of Zeon pushed forward to challenge the Earth head-on in what came to be called the Battle of Loum, named after the site of the battle in Side 5. Despite mounting casualtives on both sides, the Spacenoids with their MS emerged victorious, not only wiping out much of the Earthnoids' military capacity in space (including Admiral Tianem and the entirety of the EFSF 4th Fleet), but even capturing their esteemed General Revil. Despite the triumphant victory and hopes for a swift end to a conflict that was rapidly becoming the bloodiest in human history, however, neither side refused to budge.

Refusing to surrender thanks to Revil's escape and subsequent speech, the Earth Federation vowed to fight on. Sovereign Degwin Zabi, enraged by this turn of events, authorized the invasion of the Earth itself. In what came to be known as the Earth Drop Operations, strategic landing points were chosen even as mass drivers on the Moon proceeded to elminate any significant anti-air defences around them. Then on March 1, the First Terrestrial Mobile Division made landfall in the Caucasus and parts of Western Kazakhstan. Four more of such divisions (comprising the bulk of the "Earth Attack Force" under Garma Zabi) would arrive over the course of a month, making landfall in parts as varied as North America, Southeast Asia and North Africa. While the planet being less densely populated than during the so-called middle-era made it considerably easier to secure larger tracts of land, the fact that these Spacenoids subjecting themselves to Earth's gravity were at least somewhat ready with an arsenal designed for such a scenario (including massive fortress-planes that could cross continents) certainly aided their conquests. The Earth Federation Ground Forces (EFGF), meanwhile, quickly found itself on the defensive, if it wasn't being met with crushing defeats. For many in the EFGF found out the hard way (often at the cost of horrid casualties) that conventional arms and doctrines meant little against MS and the added firepower backing those up.
But even as Zeon moves forward with hopes for a decisive victory, however, trouble looms on the horizon. In several fronts, the advance is slowing to a crawl, especially as the EFGF hunker down in more defensible territory. Concerns have also arisen that, as impressive as claming more of the world was, the Earth Attack Force's gains could not be sustained without straining the Homeland, with most logistic officers estimating that within two weeks, further offensives wouldn't be possible. This is to say nothing of the increasing deployment of RTX-44 "Guntanks" by the EFGF, which is in some manner connected to the elusive "Operation V:" the Federation's secret weapons development program that could surpass Zeon's work on MS if allowed to be completed.

The war is nearing a stalemate. And for Valeria Caine and her comrades-in-arms, the so-called "Dusk Wraiths," their role in the war effort is far from over.

Chapter 2 The Beginning of the Pacific Front

The Pacific front is an oddity in itself. To understand how the second part of the war began it is best to begin with the United Kingdom. A nation that can thank its security to its island status would ironically also have geography play against it with the revolution of the Zippon Republic. Zippon began as a small trading post that were originally set up by colonist of Cauli. While the island may have been unified in the recent past, at the time of exploration it was home to much infighting between the regions. The island itself did not have much resources to exploit, it did however have a population willing to trade. The establishments of the trading post quickly grew as word spread of the exotic island expanding into cities. Many of the artists of Europe would travel to these cities leading to many new forms of art styles as they learned of their work.

Having a native population that was divided without a central government would play into the United Kingdoms favour. Leading to the vasselation or outright annexation of areas around the trading post to make room for more colonist. The Zippon natives without access to guns would quickly lead to the whole island becoming a direct colony under the crown. As the English population grew the desire for more autonomy exploded causing tension. This would soon rise as the United Kingdom would tax the colony to finance various wars for trade post in China and South East Asia. The United Kingdom would use the justification that is it securing the trade routes around the colony. This tension would rise and fall over the years until it would reach a boiling point when a British solider is alleged to of shot a merchant who was close friends with local governor(Note this story is hotly contested with historians with some claiming the merchant was smuggling). Either way this would lead to the governor calling for justice and word of mouth quickly spread. The Zippon revolt has begun.

Fighting would be a brutal 13 years that would ultimately be won with the support of the Zippon natives supporting the republic with the promise of allowing internal autonomy instead of the British rule of intervention. Independence would be signed in 1854. With the lose of its second largest colony the United Kingdom began to put more focus into its China trade ports. With the beginning of setting up British protectorates in the following decades, the Zippon began to get nervous about the potential of an invasion to reclaim the ex colony. This would put the nation in natural favour with two other nations. The Dutch and the Bengal Empire would be natural allies as both had spheres that conflicted with the British. The Dutch had been competing for domination of South China(OTL Indochina). Meanwhile the Bengal Empire viewed the British as the biggest threat to their domination of the subcontinent. While they were aware of the Dutch plans also, they saw the United Kingdom as a much larger threat. So when Zippon came to these two nations with the idea of an alliance plans were drawn up to divide up the British Asian holdings in response to any British aggression.

Meanwhile in the Atlantic front the war had been going on for about 11 months and both sides are still confident that they will have the upper hand quickly. The French were confident once they were done working through the Pyrenees range that the Spanish would fall quickly and then could swing around to the African colonies. There were even some plans to move through Portuguese Morocco. Meanwhile the Germans were making quick progress through Venice with the Italians and working through Hungary. Thus it was a shock when the British invited French, German and Swedish to a meeting about a surprise attack on the Dutch(the Italian League was left out of the discussion). The German autocracy were infavor for the proposal, wanting to liberate Germans living in the Eastern part of the Dutch empire. Yet this would cause quite the divide in French leadership. While the French did not have any fights to pick with the Dutch, the promise of land and wealth is enticing. The ease of invading a nation from 2 land fronts and sea made it appeal to the opportunist. After two months of deliberation it was decided that France would join on the promise of the core Dutch territory would be made into a neutral country, not annexed by either countries and sole annexation of Dutch South China.

On June 14th, 2001 the Dutch were attacked. Thus beginning the Pacific front and bringing the rest of the players into the war.

Jim seems very happy by these turn of events.

Not much backstory to this one, just that Napoleon creates the Duchy of Warsaw but bigger, giving it Galicia from Austria, to create a stronger buffer against Russia. Tried to experiment with new styles and techniques for this one.

Marvelous, though Danzig being either independent or Polish would be essential to their economy. If you do a remake, maybe show that as well as Saxony? Assuming it is in personal union with Poland here.

I can't seem to find any good 1800's world maps in this thread.

Maybe there are some in the previous threads?
