Another update to my 'Polite War' Map. New things to note.

Italy's empire in general is on the verge of collapse with Albania in outright rebellion and Somalia almost certainly lost thanks to Chinese and Ethiopian influence. China's regarding the whole 'Italian thing' as a test run for what they'll do with Commonwealth holdings.

During the Russian War, China basically grabbed France's South-East Asian territories while the Russians were on the verge of crossing the Rhine. Citing French oppression of the people there. Now, they can be oppressed by fellow Asians! Yay...

After the Russian War, the Allied forces found any semi-large ethnicity in the Caucaus region that didn't like the Russians and gave them their own country. This was not wise.

The Second Great Game is taking place in the Middle East where China and its ally, Iran, are fighting for the British backed Arabs over the ruins of the Ottoman Empire and the Sunni/Shia/Kurd remains. The Greeks tried to get in their licks during the collapse of the Empire, but the Ottoman successor state put everything they had into defending Constantinople and Greek conquests amounted to nothing more than a few islands. The distraction led to the chaos of the current Middle East situation though.

Poland. So big. So stronk.

For the Map of the Fortnight.

I will not claim to be entirely sober when making this, but I digress...

Backstory: Pre-election violence between the Zulu dominated Inkatha Freedom Party and ANC leads to South Africa descending into civil war. The Zulus attempt to secede (claiming the territory of KwaZulu-Natal) and reform the Zulu Kingdom. The White separatists cast their lot with the Zulu separatists in hopes of getting land to create a "Volkstaat" or homeland of their own. The gambit pays off, as the Zulus are able to win independence from Pretoria. The White separatists eventually obtain a small territorial enclave inside the independent Zulu Kingdom. However, given the open racism espoused by many White separatist leaders, the new state quickly becomes a pariah in the wider world.

This is intended to be both a map and a parody of The Daily Mail.

Europe

"New Utopia," "The Preserve of Happiness," "Olympus" ... This is what Europe is called, this grandiose gigapolis stretching from Lisbon to Warsaw and from Athens to Oslo. The one hundred and twenty billion people who live here can proudly claim that they are citizens of the most perfect state that has ever existed.

Originating in the European Union in the distant 20th century, Europe was repeatedly tested. Economic crises, territorial conflicts, the Revolution of the doomed, the war for the right to immortality ... Europe has withstood everything. Soldered together for centuries by peaceful life and interdependence, the former Czech Republic and France, the United Kingdom and Spain - like other countries - have long since dissolved into a single body in Europe.

Set up as a parliamentary republic, Europe is trying to listen to the voice of every one hundred and twenty billion of its fellow citizens and remains true to the principles of freedom, democracy, market economy, and the fact that it first proclaimed the right to immortality as the natural right of every person born here. The same as the right to life.

However, after a while it became clear: sometimes one of these rights excludes the other ...


Russia

A reliable and self-sacrificing supplier of oil, gas, metals, timber and water to Europe and China, by the end of the twenty-third century, Russia had almost completely exhausted all the resources that had so far sold abroad. The Russian political system is so unusual that we will devote a bit more space to it in this book.

Because of the specifics of the national policy on immortality, Russia has never faced the problem of overpopulation; on the contrary, the number of its peoples was reduced throughout the five centuries that followed the discovery of immortality (which, incidentally, was committed precisely here).

A little over twenty million people live in Russia in the twenty-fifth century. Energy and metals ended by the beginning of the twenty-second century, the forest - by the middle of this century, water (all major rivers were diverted to Europe and China) - in the twenty-third century. Hispanoamerica is the cartel of Brazil and the Hispanic countries of South America, whose territories begin immediately south of the Panama Canal.

Unlike other countries, the discovery of immortality, though weakened, did not destroy Catholicism in the countries of Hispanic America. Adherence to traditional values, the popularity of religion and the lack of central government (and perhaps also a natural temperament) have made Spanoamerica the last place on the planet where the population continues to grow at a rapid pace.

The governments of the countries of Hispanic, although united by common interests, can not work out coordinated measures for birth control; the annual population growth is about three percent.

In this case, despite the discovery of immortality, high mortality remains in Hispanic women. The main reasons are violence and dangerous infectious diseases, long defeated in Europe and Panamerica.

Despite certain shortcomings of the political system, Hispanic America considers itself to be a reserve of freedom, although to some, such freedom may seem anarchy. The local population can migrate without restrictions on the continent, has the right to engage in construction at its own discretion and provide its own security with measures that seem to him justified.

Panamerica

Panamerica's population is one hundred and fifty billion people, and this great power is one of the Big Three, actually ruling the world. Panamerica is a presidential republic that has absorbed the best of the governance systems of states that have entered it.

However, despite vast territories, the Americans faced the same problems as the inhabitants of an overpopulated Europe. Lack of water, food, energy for an immortal and infinitely growing population. However, in the PanAm to address this issue came up differently, without departing from the spirit of freedom of choice and entrepreneurship, which once gave birth to this country.

Hmmm. Quick question. Are you showing the Jordan river here, or are you showing a rump Palestinian state? And good work with the countries just peaking in from the side of the map. Commies, monarchists, and non-secularists galore.
