While the eastern front of the Great War proved decisive for the Germans, the Western Front would grind to a standstill. Soon 6 years would have passed with merely back and forth gains and no end in sight. With little other options, an uneasy peace would finally be settled upon in 1920, as the Spanish flu raged on and citizens of both sides tired of war. However, almost immediately, the powers of Europe and beyond began to build up in arms. Not even a year in and no one trusted the peace to hold.
At first a continuation of the naval race of the decade prior, the focus soon shifted to the skies. Zeppelins, Airplanes, and increasingly large and garish bombers that would soon garner the name "aeronoughts", hankering back to the glistening battleships of the previous decade. Chemical weapons also became a main focus, becoming more deadly and sinister as large sums of money funneled into research. Firearms changed too, becoming more mechanized and, while usually not too impractical, became almost as much for show as for combat. Often times, however, things were not as pristine, as this display of industrial might and extravagance wreaked havoc on the skies and landscape of the nations it occurred in.
In the 1920's, many states would undergo a drastic political shift. France would throw off its third attempt at republicanism in favor of a Orleanist restoration of the throne. Russia, however, would do quite the opposite, becoming a democratic republic (albeit a heavily flawed one) . The German Empire, now borderline a superpower, found itself under the thumb of its military, with the African colonies that make up Mittelafrika being completely military run. This would become far more important in the 30's as certain factions became more powerful than others. Austria-Hungary, having already cheated death, reformed itself into the Danubian Confederation, giving more power to the parts of its whole.
1925 would see the "peace" break for the first time in the nation of Italy. Torn between the Social Nationalists, under a young leader Benito Mussolini, and a weak coalition of republicans , socalists, and ardent catholics, the nation would be split in half as the kingdom essentially dissolved overnight. The civil war would be long and strenuous, while also showing the new divisions on the continent.
The 1930's would continue this trend of escalation and proxy conflict, with wars erupting in Spain, Arabia, and Africa. All the wile new quirky regimes would find a base for their power: The weird idiosyncratic blend of communism and Turanism in Turkestan, the indigenous movements of the Aymara and Mapuche, the borderline Catholic theocracy in southern Italy, and most importantly a sinister blend of ethnic nationalism and the occult growing within the ranks of a certain subsection of the German military. Finally, in 1936, a spark would ignite the powder keg of the world, in the most unlikely of places: The Horn of Africa

In a fit of insomnia, I just made an expanded version of the map I just posted, with more details and all. It's partly inspired by a map of Xianfeng Emperor's that I saw while browsing the 2017 map thread, so thanks to him for the inspiration with his wonderful China map found on this page!

There's nothing I want more than basically a USSR in America.
But also, could someone explain the difference between Syndicalism and Socialism? They seem very similar to me.
Syndicalism, like Communism, is a Socialist ideology. It is caracterised by the fact that its power structures and organisation is based around the trade unions.
New England and upstate New York their own little thing or are they a part of Canada here? I am unsure if the lack of mention is just the propagandists not wanting to bring them up.
They, along with Alaska, were seized by the British Empire in Exile (Canada essentially) at the outbreak of the Second American Civil War. New England and New York were combined into a protectorate "Republic of New England" and joined in the Entente faction led by the exiled British and French Empires. If you want a little more detail on them you can check it out here on the Kaiserreich wiki since i'm just using their standard lore.
What about the Dutch colonies? The Netherlands are in the German sphere, but Indonesia and Suriname have a separate color.

The Three Kingdoms of Viking Rus'
It is 917 A.D. By now, the Varangian presence in Russia -- extant for two centuries as Middle Swedish traders were eager to make their entrance into the lucrative Khazar and Abbasid trade routes -- has created not one, but three kingdoms of the Rus', stretching from Ladoga on the river Volkhov, to Tmutarakan' on the Black Sea, and the Don-Volga Portage on the border with the Khaganate of Khazaria.
The two "main" kingdoms of Rus', and the first to develop from the Rus' Khaganate, have been Holmgard in the north with its vibrant population of largely Swedish settlers who have intermingled with the East Slavs; and Kiev in the south, where Scandinavians mainly represent a mercenary class and East Slavs are gradually more influential. It could be said that Holmgardians are the "Norse" Rus', and Kievans are the "East Slav" Rus'.
Their combined eastward ambitions and desire to control the Eurasian trade led to the Great Heathen Army of the East (distinguished from their western counterparts in England) sailing down the Don and the Volga to hold Atil for ransom.
The third kingdom of Rus' in west Khazaria is the newest. The Khazar Khaganate, theoretically still a great power, has decreased in size but remains economically formidable. In frequent succession battles between the co-khagans of Khazaria, Varangian bodyguards were called in between the warring factions, a great mistake in hindsight, and have since carved out the areas sailed by Norse traders at the Don-Volga Portage. Still, the Vikings have integrated themselves into the Khazar aristocracy, maintaining the Khazar fortresses. The official demesne of the Khazar Khagan is essentially a state of its own, while his "vassals" rule the tertiary Rus', the Khazar Rus'.
The political situation of Eastern Europe and the Near East continues to evolve quickly, as Viking raiding parties sail south to plunder Byzantium, Magyars plan to mutiny against the Bulgarian Emperor, and the Pechenegs raid Kievan fortresses on the Dnieper. Only time may tell how the Three Kingdoms of Rus' will develop. Yet one thing is certain: the Silk Road trade must flow!

2nd map set in the same world. As seen while Africa is mostly independent, it still maintains a lot of ties to the powers that colonized it for better or for worse. However, this is balanced by the fact Egypt, Ethiopia, and the Kongo tend to be a more anti-European, to minimize the meddling of Europe in Africa's affairs.
On the bright side, the worst portions of decolonization never happened, because many powers needed a agent on the continent, as seen with Ost-Afrika and the various British Dominions in Africa. Even so, as seen in Mozambique or Tchad, people are wary. Additionally Africa has survived the climate changes rather well in comparison to Europe.
