I made a map for a timeline that I've started about the Western Roman Empire fleeing to Britain during its collapse. This shows a sort of civil war called the Celtic War between tribes loyal to the Empire in Exile (in London) and the tribes aiming for removing the Romans :)
Small Map.png

Britannia, since the Severan Reforms at the late 2nd century, has been divided into two provinces, Inferior and Superior. In the 6th century, these had become the only remaining provinces of the Western Roman Empire.

In the south of the Superior, lay the great Imperial Capital, Londinium. Modelled after Rome before its fall and Honorius I’s retreat from Europe, the city was home to marvellous Roman architecture and approximately 120,000 citizens, many of whom descended from the former provinces of Europe and the Mediterranean. Outside the city, the Superior is more rural. Safe for traders and merchants in all areas except the western rural regions, an overwhelming majority of tribes and peoples remained loyal to the emperor.

The Inferior is much more hostile. This region marks the frontier for the Empire in exile and contains much more disloyalty. North of Eboracum, the province’s capital, where most of the battlefields of the Celtic War lay. The Brigantes rival even the Catuvellauni and the Iceni in size and might, posing a constant threat to travellers and merchants in the north. For this reason, the Inferior is much poorer than the Superior, and many of the Celtic peoples in the region had lost hope in the emperor.

Vallum Aelium marks the border of Britannia. Heavily fortified, this wall now faces attacks from both sides.

In the year 548, Britannia stood in a civil war between Rebel Tribes and Roman-Celts.

What are you to tell me what I should do with my map? I had seen that some people had liked it, and I would have thought that, maybe, the map may have gone unnoticed. Are you telling me that I don't have the right to post this here?
There's nothing wrong with your map, It's just that most people here don't like guessing games. Several, if not dozens, of maps get posted daily and we don't have time to ponder them all. A map with a brief explanation is all we need. If people have more questions after that, they will ask.

Liberia and Maryland in Africa

Following the decline and further Bankruptcy of the American Colonization Society, a referendum was held in the United States colonies to determine if the colony should become an independent nation. All but one of the colonies [The Maryland Colony] voted against independence, though votes were very close.

In 1848, the American Colonization Society were forced to liquidate their remaining assets and sell the various colonies in Africa directly to the American Federal Government. Aside from the core Liberia Colony centered around Monrovia, there were four state run colonies [Louisiana in Africa, Pennsylvania in Africa, Mississippi in Africa and Maryland in Africa] of which the Maryland Colony was given independence as an American protectorate following the Mexican American War.

The United States government now had their first Colony, and could be considered a significant regional power. Following the American Civil War, Liberia's population grew significantly with freed black slaves. Instead of 40 acres and a mule, freed blacks were offered a free ride and land in Liberia.

France attempted to purchase the inner territory of the colony in the late 1880's, but America was wary of French intervention in the America's [Mexico, Brazil and Argentina] and denied the sale, however, they did accept a land trade with the United Kingdom, settling Liberia's eastern border at the Moa River.
Always love Liberia timelines.

What's the fate of Maryland-in-Africa?

The Hour Before the End
The Hour Before the End.png
The Earth is beautiful. The waters are nice and clear, the ice at the poles are lovely shades of blue and white, and the forests of the world are green with life. Unfortunately, within an hour's time large swathes of the world will irradiated, and most of the nations on this map will be destroyed. We shall see how this world got to this point, from the early 50's to one hour until the end.
(For the sake of context, I'll summarize 1936-1950, and thus the last map in the series, as briefly as possible.)
1936: On a promise of ending the Great Depression, the Communist Party of the U.S. seize both the House and Senate, and Earl Browder becomes Speaker of the House.
1937: Both FDR and Cactus Jack die in an "accident", leaving the communists in almost complete control of the U.S government.
1937-40: Browder starts to participate in a slightly more extreme version of the New Deal, but the nation is still mostly isolationist.
1938: WW2 begins when Italy invades Greece, and the British back them up.
1939-1940: The French Civil War occurs, and the Fascists win.
1941: The USRA(United Socialist States of America) and the USSR create the Washington-Moscow Pact, and they declare war on the Axis.
1941-44: The European Axis falls, and is split between the Allies and the WMP(Washington-Moscow Pact). However, Japan and its puppets are still around.
1944-45: A mass revolt in southern and eastern India occurs. The Fascists try to take over France once again. They both fail.
1946: Feeling that communism is a threat to all of democracy, King George VI reluctantly declares war on the USSR.
1945-50: This war continues, bringing the casualties on both sides to 20 million.
After another year of war, including attempted invasions of Ireland, Scotland, and the fall of the Levant and Egypt, both sides have finally had it. President Browder and PM Halifax in secret start to organize a 10 year ceasefire in what will later be known as The Treaty of Stockholm, with the hope being that even after the ceasefire officially ends, the war wouldn't start again. However, it relatively quickly got the attention of both Hirohito and Stalin. Stalin hated the treaty due to the fact that he would lose Vladivostok, Irkutsk, and all of the Eastern Coast; however, he died a few months later, and was replaced by Nikita Khrushchev, who was both more willing to sue for peace and was more obedient to the wishes of the USRA.

On October 18th, 1952, the Treaty of Stockholm was signed, and the Great War met its de facto end. Despite this, the main thing the citizens of the Allied Powers, the Co-Prosperity Sphere, and the WMP felt was dread, as in July of 1952, the British had tested their first atom bomb in the Australian Outback. The Japanese did the same a day after the ceasefire was signed, this time in the Gobi Desert. The ceasefire itself required that along with an end to fighting, the borders were to stop exactly where they were the day before it was signed. Despite the fact that both sides would lose vital land due to this, they also recognized that they literally couldn't handle anymore war at this point.

After the Treaty of Stockholm was signed both the Allied Powers, the Co-Prosperity Sphere and the Washington-Moscow Pact, they got to work on rebuilding the infrastructure that was destroyed in the fighting. Nation building also occurred, and in in a period between 1953-1956, the land occupied by both the communists and their rivals were either annexed or given independence. However, this isn't the only way both sides gained members. In 1954, Hungary and Portugal fell to communist revolutions. with Ethiopia following a year later. In response to a seemingly unending list of nations falling to socialism, The citizens of the UK were getting more and more rabidly anti socialist. As a result, Oswald Mosley took charge of the increasingly radicalized Conservative Party after Halifax resigned in 1953 due to a scandal, along with becoming Prime Minister a month after the ensuing election.

The reason he is significant for the next 9 years is that he promoted closer ties between Britain and Japan in dealing with the Washington-Moscow Pact, along with refusing to decolonize, building a cult of personality, and slowly convincing Parliament to give him more and more powers as Prime Minister. The fact Mosley tried to keep the empire together as much as possible ended up building more and more resentment against the British, especially in what was formerly French West Africa and in the British Raj, and that resentment led to the birth of both The West African Commune and the Swaraj. The West African Commune promoted that all of West Africa be unified under a self-ruling communist society, while the Swaraj took inspiration from the revolt of a decade prior, and mainly were active the the same areas. The only acception to this rabid anti-decolonization is Indonesia, but only because of the fact that the Netherlands is still technically a different nation and the nation's leaders despise communism.

During this time, Earl Browder, in the name of national security, passed the United Workers Act, which united the states into "communes", with the goal of promoting comradery by eliminating most of the internal borders, and thus more willing to fight in a future war. Cynics, on the other hand, saw this as an attempt by Browder to seize more power for himself. However, they were ignored by the majority of the American populace, and Earl also used this as justification to annex most of the Caribbean.

However, America wasn't the only place where territorial changes were taking place: South Asia is a good example of this. In 1956, Ho Chi Minh, along with a group called the Đảng Công nhân, took over
Saigon and declared the Workers' Republic of Vietnam. Emperor Bảo Đại, desperate to hang on to power, let the Japanese have significant power in his country, essentially making his nation a puppet. At around the same time, the aging King Sisavang Vong of Laos was overthrown by his eldest son, who was secretly backed by Japan, and a large portion of the royal family of Cambodia was killed in an accident, leaving room for a joint American-Soviet-Vietnamese army to take power. However, the Japanese recognised a distant relative of the old king as the true rulers, and along with the Vietnamese Civil War, started a proxy war that lasted until 1959, ending in a white peace.

Things stay mostly the same until October 18th of 1962, when the Treaty of Stockholm finally ends and to the cheering of those around the world, peace remains. Those cheers turned into sobs 3 days later, as a rogue general from Republican Italy starts to invade the Italian Union, realizing that the 2 nations are technically still at war. The Second Great War had begun. This was the straw that broke the back of the British camel, as citizens across the empire started revolts just days, if not hours later, and the extremely harsh resistance to them only make them worse.

However, despite the constant use of nuclear weapons in the last part of the war, they haven't been used this time due to the fact that the theory of Mutually Assured Destruction was developed during the ceasefire, thus making nuclear war the last thing either side wants to partake in. Well, that was the case until an hour ago, when a glitch in the command center of the British Early Warning System made the radar report that there 3 American ICBMs coming from the Faroe Islands. Unfortunately, it wasn't identified as a false alarm, and Moseley gave the go-ahead for nuclear retaliation, only learning that it was a bug a few minutes ago. Too late.

So this is my first attempt at a longer piece like this, and I would really appreciate some feedback. Also, I'm not sure if I should either use realistic radiation, Fallout! radiation, or some other kind for the followup map to this.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, shit.

@Limabot well, allies are doomed, aren´t they? But you know what? Better nuked than red

(I am a bit confused about Italy... wouldn´t be better red north, than Sicily and Naples?)

The communists originally owned all of the peninsula, but were reduced to the islands due to an allied invasion. They got back the southern tip in a naval invasion during 1951.

Very, very quick Georgia wank I'll come back to at a later date. Needed to offload it and the few notes I had in mind:

- Dark orange is Karamanids, Muslims but on goods terms with Georgia due to their mutual enmity for the 'clerical fascist' Grecian Empire, a proto-nationalist Byzantine successor.
- A Cossack Hetmanate of sorts. Probably not the Hetmanate given I doubt the POD would line up.
- Kurdish 'principalities'.
- 'Kingdom of Aleppo' in personal union with Georgia, majority Muslim but with a ruling class professing Georgian Orthodox.
- Speaking of which, most of Europe recognises Georgia as the authority on the Orthodox faith since the Patriarch of Constantinople fled to Tbilisi when the Grecian Empire arose.
- An overarching reason for this turn of events might be an even bloodier and longer Mongol invasion of Europe and Central Asia, somehow bypassing the Caucasus in the process so that when they did leave Georgia rose from the ashes to take over much of the surrounding region. Certainly, Russia and Persia would be in tatters.

If I do go further with this I might go a bit crazy and start adding fun stuff like a Georgian Suez Canal and Egypt, marauding Slavo-Mongol hordes in the north and some ports that are too far afield for such an isolated state, in India or Johor or Darwin, fuck it. I'm sure the courts of Tsbilisi would love the aphrodisiac sea cucumber.

Why not a PoD in the Mongol Empire never arising? Queen Tamar's kingdom was pretty big up until the Mongols came, IIRC.
I'd also be interested in an Armenia-wank.

Some of the posters here had already informed me of that rule. May I inquire as to why we are not allowed to bump threads?
Sure. Its trolling.

It implies that the person bumping believes their thread is more important than anyone else's. That is unfair to all the other posters.

Also a map of how Southern England perceives Northern England :p

Quality map just for combining tribal and city names to make it more relatable, looks good.

Can we still "repost to avoid end of page syndrome" like they did in the old days?
