Trying for a bit more high fantasy, I created an alternate universe of my world in which there are clearly good and evil sides(I don't have anything darker than antiheroes, so the baddies are totally non-canon). I've called it "the Knockoff War" as all sides are intended to be based on other fictional canons.
It may seem like a crossover-war fan fiction, but due to international copyright laws it is not!
Going clockwise from top left:
The Order of Chaos (ersatz of Chaos from Warhammer 40k) - The flag consists of a stretched chaos cross (similar to a union jack) with each quarter in a different color to represent the four Gods of Chaos. White represents Chaotic Unitarianism, the worship of chaos as a whole.
Alignment: Evil Strengths: Ability to convert and mutate followers into mindless hordes and to direct wars. Weaknesses: Hordes can be converted back to Good. Severe infighting between the five branches of chaos. Good counterpart: The Free Villages.
The Angels of Light (ersatz of Weeping Angels from Doctor Who) - The flag consists of a washed-out halo atop a white sheet, representing the Angels' identification with biblical Judaeo-Christian imagery. Angels are only able to move when undetected and, due to supernatural corruption, are driven to feed off of or kill other sentient beings.
Alignment: Evil Strengths: Ability to disguise as angels, cherubs, paintings, or statues. Superhuman strength. Weaknesses: Cannot move while being observed. Good Counterpart: The Monsters.
The Monsters (ersatz of the animatronics from Five Nights at Freddy's) - Driven by an extreme desire to protect the innocent, one that at time borders on the overzealous, they rely on scare tactics in order to scare their opponents into submission. Some are phantoms, who are immune to physical attacks, and almost all can teleport. Many have functioning PTSD from the amount of horrible acts against children and little old ladies that they have observed and tried to prevent. Many take on animalistic (bear, rabbit, etc) forms.
Alignment: Good Strengths: Ability to teleport, physical intangibility, terrifying jump scares and often unnerving appearance Weaknesses: Limited physical attacks, sometimes can scare the wrong person out of desperation, frequently strained sanity Evil counterpart: The Angels of Light.
The Free Villagers (ersatz of Villagers from Minecraft) - The Free Villagers practice a form of the Mennonite faith, being sworn to strict pacifism and living in agrarian villages centered around small churches where even painting one's house is seen as garish and decorative. Free Villagers visually combine aspects of Buddhist and Franciscan monasticism (shaved heads for both men and women, no makeup, and brown habits). For defense, they rely on Golems, very strong (possibly mechanical) warriors who live among them.
Alignment: Good Strengths: Very numerous and Golems are quite tough to defeat Weaknesses: Strict pacifism means that most are useless in war. Evil counterpart: Order of Chaos
