Great map

What's going on in the British isles? Also, where is the HRE-in-exile located? What is the superstate in Europe called? What is the long state in the middle of North America called?

The British were the last to fall in Europe (outside of Russia, Sweden and the Papal States) There was no real Republicanist rebellion in the UK, it being the most democratic of the European state. Ireland had rebelled however and joined the European Confederation (the European superstate) as result, the EC invaded across the channel. This, in combination with a massive socialist uprising in Scotland and Northern England spelled the end for the UK proper.

The HRE-in-exile is located in Southwest Africa.

Long Middle State in North America is “Kansas”. Made up of an alliance of British farmers and native Americans, both of whom hated British rule. They considered Louisiana, but Louisiana proper rebelled and joined the Francophone Texas Republic.

Maps for the War of the Spanish Succession in my TL. In Part #14: Moot Point, the war in Europe begins to slow down, while things heat up in the North America.

The grey colony where Georgia should be is New Modena, an English Penal Colony that has now happily welcomed the French. Dotted means claimed, but unsettled, though things are roughly drawn. Post-War will finally see far better and more defined borders. New York is also in revolt.

Why not join the *United States? (And I'm not sure how you get a European farmer - plains tribes alliance, since buffalo herds and farms aren't really compatible).

I have a question. Long long time ago before I joined I saw on the Map Thread a world Raj or something like that. Is it done? Is it still unfinished? where can I see it?

Pff. Some sort of alliance of English speaking settler colonies that revolted from British rule? I'd like to see that.

The linguistic situation of Azalaia and Narsenia those days.

Saxish is a Teutonical language, and I've presented it not as one big blob, but as different dialects [Western, Eastern, Black Country, Cambrish, Narseno-]

- Western: the "normal" Saxish, and the one Lagellians understand best out of them all.
- Eastern: Basically imagine exaggerated Northern English, and you have it.
- Black Country: Very much influenced by both immigrants and the Cambrish.
- Cambrish Saxish: Very much not the "national language" of Camber, it's surprisingly normal.
- Narseno-Saxish: Basically Hiberno-English.

And there's Albis too, which is basically Scots.

Sakstaal is a Teutonical language too, and it has diverged far from Saxish. Centuries living in isolation on a far-flung continent will do that to you. A language revival has brought it back to the islands.

Cambrish is a Caletic language albeit one with considerable influence from Remanic. It is the national language of the Kingdom of Camber and despite immigration to South Camber from Saxish-speakers, it still maintains a majority of citizens speaking it. There was once another Cambrish language, the extinct Remanic "Asealig", which persisted up until the 11th century as the language of the elite.

Narsenian is the "official" language of the Republic of Narsenia, as well as being recognised as a "significant" language in East Narsenia. It is not in good form those days, with cities mainly speaking Narseno-Saxish. It is a Caletic language that has a lot in common with Galeic and peculiarly enough, less with Cambrish [linguistics think that there was a "Northern" Caletic mainly based in Gallica and which has a few survivors but the most prominent is Cambrish, and a "Southern" Caletic that evolved to Narsenian and Galeic.]

Galeic is the other language of Alba. It is in fairly dire straits those days, with numbers plummeting and fears that it would die off in this century. Not helping matters is that nationalists champion Albis instead of Galeic.

Humvi is the language of the Humvees, aka the inhabitants of the Isle of Hum. It's a Caletic language with a lot in common with Galeic, up to the point where "Humvi Galeic" is an acceptable alternative name.

Narseno-Nabitean is a very peculiar thing instead. The Sultanate of Bung was a Crastrian sultanate, and successive sultans pushed hard for education in Nabitean and conversion to Crastre. Hence the Narsenian language was replaced by a dialect of Nabitean. Despite centuries under Azalish and then Narsenian rule, the language persists, although it has a very, very strong Narsenian-y flavour.

WIP Map of "I Used to Rule the World".

ITTL the "Bourbon Empire", a union between Spain and France is finalized, after France wins the War of Spanish Succession.

Liberalism and Republicanism never really rise fully ITTL, the world's Super Empires (The British Empire, Russian Empire, Holy Roman Empire, and Franco-Spanish Empire) divide up most of the world. Notable minor powers being the Netherlands, China, and the Ottoman Empire.

Following the long and dragged out war between the "European Cordial" of the Franco-Spanish, Russians and Qing Dynasty, and the "Grand Alliance" of the British, Portuguese, and Holy Romans. The collapsing Ottoman Empire later joined the war on the side of the Grand Alliance.

The devastating war, lasting from 1898-1910 would see no true victory. Rather concessions were made on either side. Infuriated colonial subjects of all nations would slowly rise up, and as the world-spanning Empires struggled to keep control of their subjects, they soon found that revolutions were quickly breaking out at home. General strikes crippled the economy, which was now only fueled by war. Slowly but surely the Great Empires of old collasped. Only a few areas of loyalist holdouts remain of the Empires that once ruled the world.

Remnants by state of origin:

Holy Roman Empire:
-Holy Chinese Empire
-Magyar Confederacy
-Holy Roman Empire in Exile

Franco-Spanish Empire:
-Bourbon Empire (Spanish Branch)
-Bourbon Empire (French Branch)

Russian Empire:
-Russian Empire
-Khokkaydo Shogunate-Tsardom

British Empire:
-United Kingdom (St. John's Government)
-United Kingdom (Swan River Government)

Portuguese Empire:
-Portugal-in-exile

Dutch Empire:
-Kingdom of South Africa
-Netherlands-in-exile

Questions?
Finally, France acquires its natural borders at the Urals.

Many western farmers were extremely independent-minded. They did not like the oppressive nature of the British colonial government, and the other major power that shared this view was noneother than the Natives of the region. Their co-existence is tense, especially in the southern portions, but they're extremely libertarian minded, and borrow alot from ideas like the Iroquious confederacy. They refuse to join the Union of Michigan (The United States) because the U.S. is much more (OTL American) federalist in nature. They even have a figurehead Duke as the Duke of Michigan. The two nations are allied, and while talks of a union have been debated, the government structures of the two nations are too different (Kansas being set up almost like the Hansa)

Ah, true. But the capital city is actually in Munich.
