Map Thread XVI

All hail the new thread! to celebrate, I figured I might as well throw a few WIPs out there. The first one details the results of the CNW/MILW merger from the TL in my sig (shameless plug) in it's entirety. Dark red lines are Milwaukee Road, bright red are Soo Line Cessions, dark green are Chicago North Western, bright green are Burlington Northern, and the blue one is Rock Island. Black dotted lines are either abandonments or state borders, and dotted lines in any other colors are trackage rights. Not shown in any of these maps is the MILW's forfeited trackage rights from the Twin Cities to Duluth, along with some other small segments.

Next map is just the cessions and abandonments

And the last one is the new reorganized divisions (the write up for which is going to be a royal PITA) from west to east: Coast, Mountain, Cowboy (teal), Dakota (purple), Northstar (blue) Iowa (Orange) Great Lakes (red), and Eastern (yellow).

bonus: Super-earth type planet that I've been working on. Currently in the Equitangular(sp?) projection, I'll throw it into G-projector soon enough.

So inspired by a similar post in the last thread by a user named empty (and inspired by some comments by Cool-Eh and Upvoteanthology), I decided to compile a list of the last thread's most popular maps (more than 30 Likes). Surprisingly for me, this has turned out to be a lot, and as such, the maps listed below only cover pages 1-165. With that being the case, I'm gonna divide this list into 2-3 separate posts (Question: Should I only include maps with more than 40 likes? Or is more than 30 a good limit?).

Also important to note is that WIPs and maps from outside sources (such as xkcd) are not included.

With that said, I now present -

I hope that I've proved to everyone that they CAN map, and map well, if THIS SHIT can get really high up in the charts just from a clever idea, because you can work around it, in a way. And so hey, to any new floks reading this, know that mapping really isn't as scary as it looks, though I am definitely not one of the greats.

The Most Popular Snips in School (Thread XV pg 1-165)
Yay! I got in the top 30! (for that section)

I personally believe 30 is good cut off point.

Fun idea!

I wonder: did the Austronesians bring any of their agricultural package to Madagascar with them? If so, did any of it spread to East Africa?

Because those pigs and goats, at least, are definitely going to spread to the American mainland by way of the islands.
Hmmm- you're question deserves research

Yay ! Top 10. And I'm in three times on the list, too, awesome. I'm surprised how I got those likes given that our game hasn't been that popular. Speaking of which, I wanted to shameless promote our map game which has ended right here :https://www.alternatehistory.com/fo...-and-leos-excellent-adventure.405407/page-198

I wanted to thank and congratulate @Historyman 14 @Marcus Sergius @Fenrir_Angerboda @theclerk @Baconheimer and others for their contributions and their hard work for building this world up. Please feel free to visit our map game above and check us out in our wonderful little what-if scenario we got going on. :)

After such a promotional map seems to have gotten 60+ likes, I think I can and should initiate another shameless promotion.

This is the Map from the Reverse Map Game 2017 Edition. We couldn't make it silent, and thus, the turns are normally described. This is the world from 1950 - and yes, a Scottish Empire exists. Along with a Kingdom of America (the nation in the southern USA), a mega-Armenia, and a mega-Ethiopian Empire.

Currently, the player base revolves around me, @Ellie , @Fardell , @Bfoxius and @Perfidious Albion who restarted Map Games after a year of absence. And we are alway happy for some new support!
