OOC: Since I tried to create an ASB timeline of my Wisconsin Civil War and that went nowhere, I might as well post my updated map. I'm thinking of trying something different this time using my google maps. I don't know if that's allowed and its not a traditional map per say but I like the feature. So without further ado here is an update for my ASB Wisconsin Civil War. It's going to be a long update so I apologize in advance. Also not to ruin any fans of Star vs the Forces of Evil but the character may or may not be an evil version of him. Or think of Marco as if he was the leader of a coup and he had Baathist tenacities.
Here is the links from my google maps with all the fictional cities and the ASB countries aiding the Wisconsin government.

War has been raging in Wisconsin for nearly 2 years now and with the 2nd anniversary of the coup coming up in just about a week, prospects for ending this war is looking grim by the day. In the last update it was reported that as of late May 2017, the war has killed 160,000 people and has injured over 300,000 people. Now as early July, 2017 the death toll is over 168,000 killed including nearly 45,000 civilians dead on both sides of the conflict. The war has brought about the displacement of over 3 million Wisconsinites and there are over 2 million refugees fleeing the conflict. The UN last week predicted that if the war continues in this scale unabated as many as 200,000 could be dead by late autumn of this year and close to 60,000 civilians killed.
The regime once again has launched offensives in attempting to retake territory controlled by the National Salvation Front which is backed by the United States, NATO and the Minnesotan Republic. La-Crosse fell early this year after several months of it being under siege by the NSF, it feel much to the humiliation of the Wisconsin military junta. Now over 140,000 government troops along with nearly 90,000 militia and paramilitary forces backed by thousands of Iowan and royal Ushenian troops the regime is poised to retake La-Crosse. So far as of early July they are still fighting in the outskirts and have yet to reach to the city, which had a prewar population of 105,000 people. It was reported that because of the several month siege thousands of people fled the city bring it down to 65,000 inhabitants. It has been reported that the population has increased in due to the number of refugees being allowed to live in the city temporary. Despite objections from human rights groups including Wisconsin's own allies Iowa, and Ushen, the Wisconsin Air-Force continues its bombing campaign against the NSF in the city despite horrific civilian casualties. Over 700 civilians since the offensive began in late May of this year have been killed by regime aircraft.
Meanwhile as the regime and its allies having suffering hundreds killed and thousands wounded fighting to retake La-Crosse and the surrounding areas, the battle for Green Bay continues to rage on. Since December 18th 2016, Wisconsin troops have been fighting to prevent the industrial city of Green Bay home to over 420,000 people from falling to the far-right neo-fascist Wisconsin People's Front or known as the National Social Front of Wisconsin. As of late June, 763 Wisconsin troops, militia and policemen have been killed along with over 2,000 civilians killed both by the regime's use of indiscriminately tactics mostly by the air force and by the far-right terrorist group which have conducted rocket attacks, car bombings, kidnappings in the cities, mass shootings and other terrorist attacks that the one-party socialist military junta uses as a justification for its authoritarian rule. Despite the horrendous losses in Green Bay and despite the regime being almost cut off from the city, the far-right terrorist group controls only 20 percent of the city. Recent fighting resulted in the NSFW to surrender the airport that they controlled numerous times only for government troops to force them to surrender the airport again. While territory for the Wisconsin People's Front continues to change on a daily basis owing to the conflict with the New Wisconsin Army, the "moderate" faction opposed to Wisconsin and because of another recent offensive by the junta regime as a means of pushing out the neo-fascist militant group completly out of Outagamie County and push them north, this has resulted in the militant group to continue its terroristic ways. While the WPF is a far-right militant group that sees Native Wisconsin Indians a significant minority in the socialist republic with over 2 million, Jews, Afro-Wisconsinites and Catholics as enemies of the "Wisconsin race", they have employed tactics similar to ISIS. In early June of this year a horrific attack occurred in a less seemingly place. In Milwaukee, the largest city in Wisconsin home to over 2 million people, was struck by a horrendous terrorist attack. 100 gunmen possibly linked to the National Salvation Front or more likely linked to the far-right National Social Front carried out a multipronged terrorist attack. Multiple targets were hit including public facilities such as bus stations, police stations, hotels, shopping malls, schools, etc. They used explosives, small arms, C4s, grenades and other weapons which killed over 740 civilians including dozens of soldiers and police. To the surprise of the authorities, some 700 pro-WPF fighters and possibly fighters sympathetic to the National Salvation Front fought in Milwaukee before the army and police restored order to the city a few weeks later. As the result of that, more troops have been deployed to the city to prevent a similar uprising occurring.
If that isn't enough, the region in June continued to see further crisis erupting. Iowa has launched a limited border war resulting in hundreds more killed as Minnesotan troops clashed with Iowan troops which resulted in a limited declaration of war on Iowa. Minnesotan troops backed by the United States and other western allies have occupied parts of northern Iowa. Minnesotan forces have also occupied and annexed parts of territory in western Wisconsin as well. With relations now nonexistent, Wisconsin has vowed once they crush the National Salvation Front, they will "seek regime change just like the Americans have tried against our Republic". As the war rages on, politically the military junta has maintained popularity despite the human rights abuses. While support for President Samuel Schmitt, one of the key coup plotters that ousted President Scott Walker in July of 2015 is still popular, he might be soon replaced with a younger face. Meet Marco Dafoez (He might be an evil version of Marco Diaz from the popular Disney X-D's show "Star vs the Forces of Evil, so sorry to ruin such a wholesome show), he is estimated to be in his late 20s or early 30s. Marco was appointed the Defense Minister this year when Rick Gudex was killed by rebel forces. In addition to being the new Defense Minister, he is also running in an election that will replace the Secretary General of the National Revolutionary Party of Wisconsin Arnold Young who has been the leader of the Party since 2007. Though Wisconsin is a one party state, it still holds elections and given how popular Marco has become since the coup, he might possibly become the next Secretary General of the Party. It is also possible that the current President could be sacked from the Presidency and be given a different position within the military regime. Marco prior to the coup was the young head of chief of the National Security Directorate of Wisconsin "Wigwam" secret police which has become a far more notorious organization with reports of 13,000 or so detainees killed in regime custody. Recently however it was reported that these abuses have been occurring while Marco was away running other daily matters of business. This doesn't excuse him for these abuses but recent rumors suggested that he is "embarrassed at the whole ordeal and if someone wants to really get things done, you might as well appoint my 'so called friend' Tom Lictor (God I'm really ruining Svtfoe aren't I?) as the head of the 'Wigwam', I have other matters to attend to, I can't let this guilt hang over my head. Mistakes were made certainly but consider how most of these terrorists would murder me because I'm part Native Wisconsinite and part Hispanic as well. So let that sink in."
Under Marco's watch, there is an estimated 150,000 people have been detained since the war started. At its peak there were over 200,000 people arrested but because of an amnesty given out by the regime late last year tens of thousands of malnourished prisoners were released and were given medical care. Since then, the number of people held in regime custody has risen again with an estimated 85,000 of them political prisoners. Despite the human rights abuses committed by the regime, thousands of people have been kidnapped and used for force labor by the various rebel factions.
According to human rights organizations covering the Wisconsin Civil War, an estimated 10,000 civilians including some 2,000 political dissents have been held without trial in territory controlled by the National Salvation Front. The communist faction which was crushed in the spring of 2016, held close to 9,000 prisoners in its prisons and they murdered or disappeared hundreds of civilians and "re-educated" close to 10,000 during its short existence. The far-right Wisconsin People's Front has an estimated 3,000 political dissidents arrested without trial. These include, communists, liberals, pro-government civilians, Native Wisconsin Indians, Catholics and others deemed "undesirable" by the far right group. Even the most "moderate" of the rebels, the Canadian and U.S backed New Wisconsin Army has reported to have shot pro-government civilians, arrested close to a thousand people and have reported to have tortured captured regime pilots shot down in the Upper Peninsula which is part of Wisconsin.
"There are no good guys," said one prominent human rights activist who has been covering the war safely in Iowa. "At least 70% of the rebels fighting the Junta don't believe in any sort of democracy, they don't intend to hold fair and free elections if they won the war today. Even though I hate what the junta has done to me and my family, and how ruthless they are towards suspected enemies of the state, I can't imagine what Wisconsin will look like if the regime falls. If you told me in 2015 that the rebels don't intend to hold fair elections, I'd look at you like you are some sort of crazy apologist for the regime, but now you might be right. I can't support the junta and I won't support Marco if he became the leader of the ruling Party, but I can now understand why the regime has 86% approval rating considering how this war has been conducted." I hope that one day the junta will fall and the war will end but it may never fall, the people are scared of the rebels and rightly so."
As of early July, approximately 11,000 regime soldiers have been killed, tens of thousands more wounded or sick. This war despite hopes of it ending in late 2016 is not going to end anytime soon. Welcome to Wisconsin, another Syria.
