Well you can probably tell I've been on holidays given I've been able to focus on all these flags and maps.

I think I covered everything, if there's anything else you'd like to know, please! Do ask, I love answering questions.

EDIT: Oh, and please excuse my terrible slaughtering of the Dutch/Afrikaner language.

How did this state come into being? It's unusual that half of it is in Madagascar and half on the African mainland.

Map of the districts (Bezirke) of the GDR.

After losing in WWII, Germany could keep everything of its 1937-mainland, because it allied with Poland and did no massacres on Poles. (But Poland lost most of Kresy anyway - but not as much as in OTL)
The western borders of the Soviet occupation zone differs a bit: Thuringia went to the US-American zone (and thus to West Germany), while eastern Holstein and Lübeck went to the Soviet one. (East Prussia became a (mainly) German-speaking SSR of the Soviet Union)

I can't speak for HowAboutEtc., but I don't really see it as unusual for a post-colonial state to have borders and territory that doesn't take basic logic into consideration. In any case, South Africa had Walvis Bay for a while, which is kind of similar a situation (in that it required either marine transport or going through another nation's territory to get to), so there's a real world precedent.

ISOT 1960.png

10 VE or 1960, had many events occur in between the first 10 years after the Wells Event. The United States, had trouble moving its residents to neighboring areas, the first state admitted into the Union was the 49th state of New Brunswick. Followed by Nova Scotia. President Truman set up the Canadian Territorial Act, which formed various territories in the Canadian regions based off old provinces. By 1960 7 new states have been added, they include the previous mentioned, and Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and Newfoundland. Later President Adlai Stevenson by Presidential Authroity formed the Hudson Territory, stretching from Sasckatchewan (now called Roosevelt) to Labrador. Many Latinos filled the vacuume for the Mexican border territories. The States of Rio Grande, Sonora, and Chihuahua were admitted to the union, with white minorities monopolizing over senate and legislative desires. The Territories of Yucatan and North Atzlan are currently being populated.

Britain had a huge colonial rush, it grabbed much of Europes Northwest Continental coastline. Other British settlements exist in Lisbon, Marsille, Algeria, Sardinia, Corsica, Iceland, and also repopulated Ireland. Britain has dreams of populating its old empire, and taking Argentina, but the US says it needs to focus on Europe, and stay away from America, President Stevenson citing that "the Monroe Doctrine Still Applies Here". The diet of Europe remains Fish and Chips, with Tea now coming from US plantations in the Yucatan and Cuba, is also rare and expensive. Soviet Settlement of Europe and Asia is focused around the former Warsaw Pact, and the Middle East. Soviet colonists have slowly been moving their way down through Iran, Already Russians populate the Straits, and is officially part of the Russian SFSR. The Armenian SSR now extends from Cilicia to the Georgian border. After Stalin died, the Great General Zhukov took over as General Secretary. Zhukov is pushing an ever more extreme colonial program, one that includes tanks and assault rifles. The Soviet Rome Experiment failed in 1954 and he settlers were re routed to Anatolia. The 5th independent nation in the world is a US puppet, made by Jews who seeked a pure Jewish state reformed Israel under US guidance. The population is a little over 10,000. Korean and Soviet Colonizaiton of East Asia has been going slow, Korea has taken the peninsula, and the area around Port Arthur, it also has landed in Japan, but the government surveliance systems for the houses and buildings are taking too long, leading to a slowing for Korean Colonization. The Soviets might reach Central Honshu before Korea does.

Hello!

I'm trying to make an Inkscape map, and I'm attempting to make an inset border along the path of one of my islands to make a darker border on the inside, however when I do it the inset is far too transformed to serve its purpose. I've tried Alt-Shift-9 and Shift-(. Can anybody here help me?

This map is NOT the original one that I sent to The Great War, for them I created it in their colour scheme with their typeface and other aesthetics that they requested. This version is one I re-did in my own style.
If you would like to see the full 8,000 x 7,000 pixel version please donate and become a Patreon all of my full sized and original files are on there for donators :)

Notes:
This took an UNBELIEVABLE amount of time. I completed it in around 2 weeks because I procrastinated and was justly pushed for doing so: over the past 3 days all I've been doing is working on this map from 9am-11pm
**I know there are some mistakes, but it would mean redrawing the region which I am not about to do anytime soon.

Enjoy!

Non-alternate history digital maps are also allowed here, right? Or else a mod can delete this comment.

Anyhow, this is a WIP digitalisation of an old map about the Netherlands in 1648 after the 80 Years' War had ended. It is very much a WIP. Notice, for example, the rivers stopping in the middle of nowhere, the island above Germany being way too long, colours being not quite right, etc. Some of those issues are because I will add the borders later, to make it look like it came from a book. Others will be fixed through experimentation.

I was reading up on the 80 Years' War, like people always do. And whilst there were some smaller maps showing territory after the war, there were no large digital maps. Not that I could find, at least. So, I said: "Fuck it, I'll do it myself." And thus decided to teach myself how to make digital maps. And I am having a blast. Making maps is a fun thing to do. Though, rivers are a bitch to do without a drawing tablet. Really hurts your hand, which makes you take breaks, which slows you down.

Comments and critique are definitely welcome. But please try to keep some of my pride intact.

Dear God, I don't think I would have that kind of patience. That's basically the #1 reason you'll never see me make a topographic map, because unless I can theoretically make the map in a single day, I probably wouldn't even consider it (with an exception or two)
