Difference that I can see:

Soviet Helsinki
Karelian SSR
Independent Brittany-Normandy
France and the UK kept their occupation zones in Libya
France kept Saarland
Rhine-Ruhr is a separate adminitrative region in West Germany
British Somaliland has expanded
Jordan stole a bit more of Israel's land
Pakistan (including East Pakistan) and Sri Lanka are British dominions
Soviet occupation of a bit of northwest China
UK/US/Soviet occupation of Japan
Western Australia is independent
East Germany/West Germany border is a bit different
The UK did a bit of land reclamation in the Wash
(West?) Berlin is a different color to West Germany
Tibetan and Chinese Republican rebellion
Soviet Dalian
(P. R.) Chinese control of a bit of Korea just south of Pyongyang
Tibetan rebellion spread to Arunachal Pradesh a bit
Semi-independent Jeju?
British dominion of Pakistan occupying bits of Gujarat
Brazilian Cabinda (!?!)
Border between Algeria and Morocco looks a bit different
PRC got a port on the Sea of Japan, between the USSR and Korea
Republic of China dropped some of its OTL territorial claims like Mongolia and Tuva, but retains a claim to one city in the Tuva region
A bit of a mess in eastern Indonesia; this might be the same as OTL but I can't remember for sure.
Free City of Trieste

A lot of this is OTL for 1954, just FYI.

Crossposting from ASB Map thread.

And bonus to the Daughters of Wurangkili a little up thread.

Kitana, a large and massive, yet barren and icy world. Composed primarily of silicate minerals and an icy crust, the landscape is peppered with impact craters and the atmosphere is tenuous, composed predominantly of hydrogen, sodium and calcium. Due to the large presence of surface ice and the relative size of Kitana, the planet possesses a high albedo and it is quite clearly visible to the naked eye from the Daughters for most of the year. It is thought that the current state of affairs occurred some 8 billions of years ago, when Kitana lost its magnetosphere, and has since had it's atmosphere progressively stripped away by solar wind.
Interestingly, and perhaps due to the presence of its two eccentric moons, Yula and Wura, astronomers had speculated that there was an enormous subsurface ocean that may house the conditions for life, kept liquid by tidal warming and tectonic activity. This has recently been confirmed by radio signals from the Redpa Expedition, the first interplanetary mission attempted by a range of Mapalese Consortiums, who have been in orbit for some months observing the Kitana. It is thought that there may be primitive life beneath the thick icy sheets that cover these oceans, with corals and algae clinging to the underside of ice sheets and perhaps, deeper down, chemotrophs and deep surface marine creatures.
For now, the Redpa Expedition successfully landed an analogue lander that proceeded to plant flags of the expedition's main backers, which may be cause for some political alarm from the other nations of Mapali and the adversarial moons of Lakri and Muka. Certainly, it is the beginning of a race to see who can land the first man on Kitana, though it's intensive gravity will need to be overcome*.

*Part of the reason this is ASB is that Human biology is the same as OTL, but 'adapted' to lunar-like gravity. So a planet closer to Earth's size as this one would be like us landing on a planet 130% the size of Earth; a strain on the heart.

POD: Germany decides to do a combination humanitarian/gästarbeiter program with the US, offering permanent residency to poor Americans who do not hold a second citizenship. Unfortunately, as so few of them spoke German beforehand they often end up either settling in poor areas in the East or doing low wage jobs alongside "third world" immigrants (cleaning toilets, driving trucks, etc). Many end up in the inner cities of Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden, and Munich, or end up in low-rent suburbs where they carpool for hours to find jobs. As with wealthy hipster expats, many Americans feel no pressure to integrate or learn the language. You also have the bonus twist that many of the poor whites turn to gunrunning, manufacturing crude guns in abandoned factories and dingy flats, and begin to resent the better-assimilated Slavic, African, and Turkish immigrants who they work with. By 2018, the American guest workers are significantly overrepresented in crime stats, and because of the high levels of gun, biker, and racist gang activity (living among, and being treated like, poor Africans and Turks will do that to a lot of poor but arrogant rural white Americans), there is a huge gun and gang problem among both white and black guest workers.

What's the POD that makes Americans move to Germany for a lower standard of living? Nuclear war off screen?

For a poor Appalachian or inner city resident, Germany looks like paradise compared to the poorest corners of the US. Lower inequality + safety net.

A hypothetical extension of Houston's METRORail System.
Hypothetical? This is just the 2003 referendum plan with some of the lines stretched a bit! If it wasn't for Culberson and Metro's funding problems, it would have been 90% built already. And it probably will be at some point in the future, given that the 25/University corridor is still one of their busiest routes and Uptown is laying the groundwork with their BRT. Can't imagine the rationale for at least the University Line will have gone away enough for them not to include it in the 2030 plan they're working on at the moment.

...Do more, pretty please!

Anyone have a map of the eastern Mediterranean in ca. 1219? Specifically the Egypt-Jerusalem-Syria-Anatolia-Greece area, but if it's all that area + Europe, that's even better

"The country of Plata is by far the most unique and diverse nation in the world, where everyone from all corners of the globe have came to Plata to help create this beautiful nation that it is today." - Prime Minister Christina Fernández de Kirchner

The Commonwealth of Plata has had a interesting history than any other country formerly a part of the British Empire. Nothing can ever outmatch the amazing history of Plata itself. Being formerly once a part of the Spanish Empire under the Viceroy of Rio de la Plata, to being invaded and taken over by the British in the Napoleonic War. After becoming part of the British Empire the name of "Plata" was given for the beautiful diverse nation.

Throughout it's time being a British colony, many people from across Europe such as Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, to even Ukraine have came all the way to Plata to establish new lives and contribute to the development of Plata, making more diverse than any British colony at the time. Spanish and English were made official languages later on and by 1891 it was made into a dominion of the British Empire.

Throughout Plata's history it had faced many troubles especially with its neighbors such as Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia and Brazil. Being surrounded by nations that were dictatorships made Plata worried of possible invasions by Brazil, Chile and Bolivia. Although Plata isolated itself from Latin American affairs and interests, it did however allowed millions of people from across Latin America to immigrate to Plata in order to escape from their harsh governments.

During the 20th century, Plata saw its own siblings such as South Africa and Australia being nothing but racist nations. Plata did not wish to have any relations with Apartheid South Africa, nor did it wish to have any relations with Australia during its White Australia Policy. Only other nations Plata did make relations with were New Zealand, Fiji, Canada, and with newer independent nations such as India, Malaysia, and Nigeria. But other than that Plata did feel that any invasion made by Chile and Brazil would only end in utter defeat and the Commonwealth of Nations would be too late to come to Plata's aid against the trannys of Latin America.

By 1982, the Plata Act finally made Plata completely independent from the Britain and over time the nation began to finally make relations with its neighbors such as Brazil, which to this very day the two nations see each other as very close friends. By the year of 1999, Plata became the first nation in the world to legalize same-sex marriage. Plata became a member of the MERCOSUR later on and recently Pope Francis became the first pope to not only be born in the Americas, but also being the first Catholic pope to be born in country formerly a part of the British Empire.

With that all said, the nation of Plata was a nation built by people from many different nations and Plata will continue to do so for generations to come.

You know that New Zealand and Canada also had immigration policies that strongly encouraged white and discourage non-white (especially Asian) migration, too? Very similar to the White Australia policy, just not in so many words. New Zealand's only ended up getting relaxed in the 60s (to allow cheap labor), and the nation-of-origin policy was dropped in the 80s, which is later than Australia's. Canada's was in the early 70s, about the same as Australia.

...For that matter, most South American countries also had similar policies.

I threw together this map of the Sinnoh Region in Pokemon to highlight an alternate story-mode route around the island for a fanfic I might write. The concept is kind of a 'sequel' to the game Pokemon Platinum. As you can see you start in Celestic Town. The red line indicates the main story-mode route. The lavendar squares are cities with gyms; the yellow-green squares are towns; burnt orange are cities without gyms. The yellow squares at the end represent the Pokemon League (now located on Stark Mountain).

The big green square is the Eterna Forest, the big blue squares are lakes/lakefronts, the red bit in the middle is Mt Coronet, and the orange/blue paths represent land-based/water-based routes.

Update to my "Punk-World" WIP, which I might end up calling "Chronicles of Hennodia", if nothing else.

Added the Sweden and Denmark equivalents, not sure about the rest of the island *Denmark proper is on. Should I make it Norway or should that be the land above Sweden? Or just have four "Nordic" nations?

I've carved up the parts of Garuda [Africa-analogue] seen on the map and added the Tyzanbine Empire (inc. lands in Ayiama [Asia-analogue].

The orange bit in the west is the Grand County of Sylvania, a really, really weird place where night seems to last longer than day, vampires are rumoured to exist and the Grand Count seems to be immortal.

It's invaded by Moskraya and ends up the spark that leads to the feared Great Hennodian War.

The white bit is the Westrian-Thirasterian "Dual Monarchy" [Westria is top, Thirastery is bottom]. The actual lands of the Westrians and Thirasterians are considerably smaller, they conquered Alsatia [the coast] a few centuries ago. It was considered a Teutonic ally, but due to the Dual Monarchy's internal strife, they did not join in the war with Teutonia [a slap to the face that Teutonia never forgot].

I've added the bit below Sweden to Teutonia, it's supposed to be a sort of mix of Prussia and the Baltics [mostly Estonia], with a Teutonic elite and a *Estonian peasantry. Ends up independent as a result of the GHW.
