This is interesting. I'm looking for a program to where I can try to make my maps look more professional. Is GIMP a good program to use?
Eh, I've seen really amazing maps made with it, but I think Inkscape is indisputably the best. It was really easy to understand, and it's free too! :) I use it to make all of my maps nowadays, and I think they look okay.

Vector-programs like Inkscape usually produce cleaner looking maps, compared with pixel-programs like Gimp.

I usually use Quantum GIS to create the basemap and Inkscape to create borders and adjust the style.

Quantum GIS is sadly very complicated and I hace myself not fully mastered it yet, but for a beginner I can really recommend Inkscape!

They look great! :D

This looks freaking amazing!
Most exited I have been to see a map in a long time.
Great credit to Petros for coming up with the scenario, 6 years ago I was wondering why it was on such an outdated base map.
Credit will be given.
I assume that Britain and Greater Norway are German satellites/allies...

Commie Japanese Empire?

Dutch Antarctica???

I shall be most interested to see the final writeup...
Possibly.
No, just the 'evil Asian power' colour, or red for the Rising Sun (mostly because Japanese yellow is too pail and makes protectorates hard to read).
No, that's an artifact from my base map transfer.

I wish I had more thumbs to up at this. Very good.

Eurasia is done? Eurasia is done.

(always happy to see the Mammyland doing well! although maybe not if we've allied with the Nazis...)

Mammyland?

And yes, Eurasia is not in very good shape... Between Nazis, Imperial Japan, and Mongolians running around it's not the happiest of locations.

So, the Axis swiftly knock over the world, like straight up The Man in the High Castle level conquest (if not beyond!), and then Germany and Japan proceed to nuke each other's homelands until the concept of a "German" or a "Japanese" is almost like asking someone if they saw an elf the other day, and then the world just burns until whoever's left is able to claw together enough land and tech to rebuild the world?
Actually... I'm not that sure about German dominance. Mostly because not only a lot of their resources and related infrastructure are now gone, but most of the reachable infrastructure is gone as well (thanks, Roman Empire). Also, most of the Nazi army is gone (thanks, Roman Empire; but also thanks, Russian Empire). This Reich will find itself with way less steel, way less coal, almost no oil at all, almost no copper at all, less food... dunno. Come Winter, the situation doesn't necessarily look pretty for them, and that might buy Europe some time.

Asia is gone, though.

Okay. When I searched it I got a bunch of results in Greek, so was confused.
I think he probably just meant Motherland. Not sure what nationality Petros is though. Who look like they are doing well but are probably allied to Germany?

Scandinavia / Denmark-Norway

Petros >Peter Furgus<
Are you a Norwegian or a Dane?
