You can guess. (You might be wrong.)
Hmm. It loos like the dark blue bit is non-contiguous and pretty rural, whilst the gray bit that bisects it is very urban, covering Aachen and the Rhine-Ruhr metropolis.

The question we have to ask ourselves is, why isn't Aachen lin the blue zone? Urbanization/cultural closeness must play a factor. There's also that weird purple banana connecting Saarland, Stuttgart, and Nuremburg in favor of this hypothesis.

So. Random guess. Something to do with the divisions of a sports league in Germany?

I really like the small details here. You got a decent enough approximation of where Anglo Texas ended and Hispanic Texas began, you remembered San Antonio was commonly known as Bexar in its early days.... why is Tijuana known as Alcala though? And El Salvador as Sonsonate?

This is such a wonderful, incredible map though. Holy heck. Holy heck.

Correct! It is the Bundesliga teams! If you noticed, there are 18 colors, and 18 teams in the Bundesliga!

Congrats!

No, I didn't know that. Should I go back and edit it? I don't even know if it's worth it, because I'm having second thoughts about whether this idea was even any good.

I mean, I couldn't say whether or not you should edit the map, but that info about Genghis Khan is probably the first thing you would learn by looking at his Wikipedia article.

Genghis Khan wasn't really relevant to the scenario since the POD was after the Mongol Empire collapsed, so I won't have to edit the map. That also explains why I never looked him up on Wikipedia. I'll just fix the first sentence.

Thank you! :) I used the Texan Colorado River as the alternate international border, it seemed to split the region evenly. Yes! As for Alcalá, I took that from San Diego's original name, San Diego de Alcalá. As for El Salvador, I originally renamed it after the city of Sonsonate...though lately I've been thinking of just changing the name back lol. I already did that with Honduras, I originally named it Comayagua.

Again thank you very much!! :D

Great work Arkhangelsk! What tools did you use to make that?

Thank you! :) I used Adobe Illustrator.

My first map created with Adobe Illustrator (and a little bit Photoshop for the final touch^^).

On the map you see the island Celebes/ Sulawesi, which the Prussians got from the Dutch in the 18th century and made it their beloved colony
in Oceania. Since Klein Venedig in Venezuela and Großfriedrichsburg in Western Africa were a fail, the king was profu for this successful colony.
He took care to not change any local names (excypt toponymic names such as Berg, See etc.) and bring the people western civilization. But in
Prussia itself the name "Selburg" from Celebes became a common name for the island.

I am still a noob in AI, so if there is anyone who can recommend a good tutorial for map making, write me a message pls :)
