Other than that, I'm quite interested in WorldRaj. Is there a worldwide progress map already?![]()
Never really felt the need- there's a file with the map as a QBAM layer. When the map's full, it's done.

What was the difference between a Colony and a Crown Colony again? And what's the political status of a Presidency?
Someone needs to start running a count of how many provinces, protectorates, colonies, etc. make up the World Raj...![]()

Something I haven't seen so far, So I did it myself:
OTL Japan in the year 1664, During the Daimyo period (大名時代 - daimyō jidai ; Daimyō="Feudal lord").
During this period of Japanese history, a vast amount of feudal lords had divided Japan into hundreds of different Clans, Fiefdoms, Kingdoms; Shogunates (minor ones), Samurai Unions and likewise Political bodies. Technically, Japan was united during this time, led by the Tokugawa shogunate (Yellow) and symbolically the "Emperor" of Japan. However, much like the HRE the Land was split between these feudal lords and it wasn't uncommon to fight for local power or to promote intrigue.
i like the colors, reminds me of neapolitan ice cream.Europe in 1960, if Stalin invaded Poland first. POD is less brutal Great Purge so the Red Army is in better shape.
Dark Grey is the Stahlpakt and Pink is the Entente Réelle.
The Soviet Union invaded Eastern Poland on September 1st 1939 as per the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, banking on Western non-intervention given Germany's successful taking of Czechoslovakia and Danzig. What followed was a joint declaration of war on the Soviet Union by both Britain and France, and soon after by Finland.
After this development, Germany immediately dropped the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact and declared war on the Soviet Union as well, and began an invasion of Poland without a formal declaration of war to "protect Poland from collapse." This move angered the Entente, but they were unwilling to declare war on Germany after having already commenced hostilities with the Soviet Union. The Entente attacked from British influenced Persia and from Finland, as well as via several landings on the Arctic Sea coast in a retread of the Entente intervention in the Russian Civil War decades earlier. The Axis invaded overland into the heart of Russia.
In 1942 the Metz Conference was held between the Entente and the Axis, concerning the post war European political order. The independence of a free Poland was insisted upon, and Germany relented on the condition that it be allowed to annex Polish lands that were once part of the German Empire and West Galicia, which was once part of Austria. As a small compensation Poland would receive some Eastern lands, including Minsk. The Soviet Union was to be dismembered to once and forever remove the threat of Russian and Bolshevik aggression. The partition plan called for a rump Russian state, an enlarged Ukraine, Belarus and Finland, a Turkestan consisting of the various Central Asian SSRs, a Ural state, and a state in Southern Russia and the Caucasus. Crimea was to annexed into the German Reich directly. Population exchanges were to occur bloodlessly and in good order. The Rump Russia was to be divided into French, British, German and Italian occupation zones to oversee disarmament and debolshevikisation prior to the release of a strictly neutral Russia. Moscow, within the German sector, was to be split between the Entente and the Axis as well for administrative purposes.
The two parties also begrudgingly agreed to spheres of influence. Much of continental Europe was to fall into the Axis Sphere, something the Entente couldn't seriously oppose when the axis possessed roughly 4 times as many divisions. In particular the Entente had to recognize German influence in Poland, a country that was wholly occupied by Germany by 1942, lest they just annex it outright.
The Second Great War ended in 1943, shortly after German troops entered Moscow. The Entente and Axis troops occupied their respective zones.
The Germans consolidated control over their bloc, while falling short of Hitler's vision of a continent spanning Reich, Poland and the former Soviet territories were forced to sign treaties that allowed German economic penetration, empowered Germans living within their borders and to collaborate with the murder of their nations' Jewish population. A series of post war conferences redrew the map within the Axis Zone, to the condemnation of the Entente.
The occupations zones in Russia soon became hard borders, with South Russia becoming a German client state and North Russia becoming a constitutional Republic. North Moscow became a North Russian exclave surrounded by Axis territory. Plans for the enlargement for Finland were abandoned as the Entente focus shifted to building North Russia into a strong ally against the Axis.
Hitler died in 1953 of drug complication. What followed was a period of De-Hitlerisation by the new Fuhrer Wilhelm Keital, who introduced a series of reforms, most notably officially announcing the Final Solution complete and ending the extermination of what little Jews remained in Axis Europe.
The Cold War between the Entente and the Axis show no signs of stopping though, and by the 1950s both blocs gained access to nuclear weapons and satellite technology.
What's the issue with Anticosti Island? Looks very inhabited in terms of shading, but no lines to it....A map for my Araldyana Timeline (LINK). Its´'s part of aninterlude and set several hundred years after the POD.
Odd that those Carribean islands off of Central America would not go to Mexico when Panama was sold though, looking it up, it seemed they had wished to be with New Granada instead of Gautemala so maybe they just got overlooked because of that past desire. And wouldn't Colombia be called New Granada with the union just being called Colombia? I admit that part of their history and naming has confused me a bit in the past. I also believe the Bolivian coast here is land that belonged to Peru. Just a minor thing, really. Also, I see there are different colors in Colombia, Venuzela and Peru around what I presume to be their capitals. Is that just to show their important to each republic, or do each of them hold a branch of government or rotate where the legislature or head of state is so none of the trio feels ignored?Wanted to come up with some timeline for a thriving Gran Colombia, but I got stuck on the scenario after a little bit. Also ignore the convergent boundaries. Historical documents of the territories are somewhat difficult to accurately portray, and I'm a bit lazy ATM.
Essentially, Bolivar manages to unite the states into a tighter Confederation, just short of Federalization. When some rebellions break out in Preu and Bolivia, Mexico intervenes on behalf of Gran Colombia in exchange for Panama. Several treaties allow Mexico and Colombia to become close allies, up until the Mexican-American War however. Mexico losing over a third of its territory to the United States, and Colombia losing much of its Navy as the result of battle. Both nations were forced to pay reparations to the US for damages. However those reparations were returned to the two nations in the form of Industrial and Infrastructural development. While their military development was curbed, they were allowed to retain a proportionally smaller force for national defense. They became allies of the United States, who, along with Brazil and the United Provinces, became some of the largest economic powers in the Western Hemisphere (not difficult, considering the only other nations are Canada, and the various nations of the Caribbean).
Gran Colombia is the only surviving National level Confederation ITTL. The constituent republics rule over their own domain independently of the President of the Confederation or his cabinet. United in Defense, Currency, and Internal Trade; the Confederation of Gran Colombia is one of the most successful nations of the western hemisphere.
Constituent Republics:
Trinidad and Tobago
Venezuela
Colombia
Ecuador
Peru
Bolivia

Shall I do a WorldRaj Version of it?You realise, of course, this is essentially what Worldraj Japan looks like.

('nother) WIP for the 1878 map for the World of Nightrise TL. (POD 1852)
As for current, the POI and the Nation/Faction infoboxes are missing.
The Viennese treaties have cleared the situation in most of Europe, North and South America plus the Special Participant, the Japanese Youkai Empire, as for the rest there's two major words that basically describe everything political at that timespot:
"holy clusterfck" (or better, "unholy clusterfck"?)
Restoration treatyHow did Mexico regain California?
Oh sweet, you're recreating this map.View attachment 319581

WIP based off my submission for the MotF. I'm thinking there will be a PoD in the 12th or 13th century, perhaps the Mongols not attacking Persia and heading West. Gigantic Mexico is French-speaking, Pink American South is English-speaking Virginia, Orange nation is New Holland, Dark Blue is Iceland Empire, and the other is Russian. Planning on working in an Irish Empire somewhere.
PoD: No Mongols.WIP based off my submission for the MotF. It is rather gross, I'll admit. The idea was A. Mexico controls the Mississippi Waterways B. Virginia and New Holland have to compete for land, and C. The borders will not always make sense what with the European love of creating straight lines as borders. But perhaps I went a bit too far. That border in North America hurts my eyes and my brain.![]()
The Icelandic Empire is explained in my MotF post. It's basically a Norwegian Empire inherited by Iceland. Thanks for the tips, though, that will be useful. Like I said, this is very much a WIP.PoD: No Mongols.
Results: Hyper-Virginia, Icelandic Empire, and BIG HOLLAND (tm). Then that border.
This scenario has some potential, and I would love to see it explored further (especially that French-speaking Mexico and Nordic African colony) but Iceland would never have the population to conquer and hold that much, much less get off their island, and Virginia would not exist (and probably not English as a recognizable language) with the butterflies your PoD causes. No Mongols in the West means no or much less bubonic plague transmitted, which totally changes Europe's history, probably for the worse.
And a helpful tip for map making: Straight longitudinal lines do not go straight up and down unless using a Mercator projection, which this is not. I recommend looking at straight Worlda Canadian province and American state borders in the general area for a reference. I hope I don't sound overly critical, because this is a scenario we don't see very often, but these are just some helpful tips for the future. Looking forward to the final product, that Irish empire sounds interesting!
