So I'm restarting my TL Deo Vindice tomorrow, it's an ISOT timeline with a focus on the religious and cultural response to the total disappearance of Europe at the very beginning of 1906- I already posted a map showing Central Africa in 1956 ITTL. As a little teaser for anyone who might be interested, have a South Africa;

Is the exiled USSR in Laos? Is exiled Nazi Germany in Cascadia? I'm a little unclear.
Sorry, I should have stated where they are. They are technically in exile, as they don't control their respective capitals, i.e. the Soviets are the large country with the capital in Volgograd, or Stalingrad in this case, and the Nazis are sitting in Bohemia and parts of southern Germany,

And what's that very thick tan border around Western America nad East Asia? Co-Prosperity Sphere?
Yes, it is the Co-Prosperity Sphere. It has democratized over the years a lot more, and is more of an EU-style union.

I said the other night in Chat that I was interested in creating a map of the Russian invasion of America in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This is the result. It's largely conjecture given how little detail the game provides about the event. The game is pretty wildly ASB anyway, so I decided to just take it to the illogical extreme based on what information was available.

second version of the new 1984+ map. i've added on the North American Union (the borders to what used to be the US itself are based on a map McCarthy used, iirc, while the Canadian divisions are based on proposed secessions along with the territories being their own thing) and have expanded on Soviet territory in a predictable manner. it's hard to see, but Haiti is designated as an American puppet here and i'm planning to add the rest of former British America to the NAU's territory, and there's several currently undetermined states in Latin America which will probably be simplified to American puppets as well with almost no other development on the global scale or in the narrative. the exception could be Colombia, which is probably doing its own thing but is still a stomping ground for the Americans, playing into the eternal war concept from Orwell's novel. in terms of fictional inspiration (since this is also an homage to various dystopian fiction), it probably draws a fair bit on the Jenoma Republic from Ghost in the Shell, with the NAU being the American Empire in analogy, but in practice will probably be more historically based and of course could draw heavily on Escobar. another thing i'm considering is to make Quebec independent, though again an American puppet, partly as a reference to TL-191. Mexico is also an American puppet state now, whereas before it had been officially annexed by the NAU but still had the protectorate overlay to indicate that it was only a state (yes, all of it at once) in name only; it's also used by the American government as part of the endless war thing.

as you can see, almost all the rest of Europe has been added, too. one thing i'm considering is that maybe Finland isn't in the Soviet bloc and has maintained its independence. Iceland is independent of the various totalitarian blocs, too, and is nominally an ally of the eventual Equatorial Federation (or whatever its version is in this new version) but is still pretty authoritarian as an objectivist state a la Rapture. aside from that, i've only defined a few other relatively small states. Taiwan is still here and separate from mainland China, Korea was still unified under the communists ("still" as in that's how it was in the old version) but now has on-map designation as a Chinese puppet despite the fact that China itself hasn't been added yet, Japan has become militant ultranationalist due to Yukio Mishima's coup succeeding and essentially reviving the Empire, i've added in the Philippines as their own state based on the fact that they technically fall outside the disputed zone from the book but they're still allied to the Equatorials even with an authoritarian streak of their own, and there's also independent New Zealand, Cuba, and Hong Kong (the latter i'm planning to have as part of the Equatorial Federation but since that state/alliance hasn't been added yet it's using its own color at the moment), and Papua is still functionally independent here. i decided to begin with that it's only nominally part of Australia, but have revised that a bit so that it's only the Papuan mainland that's functionally independent with the rest of the islands in the area being under de jure AND de facto Australian control. the newest change is that i've essentially decided that Port Moresby is the only part of Papua that Australia has any real control over (and probably some other ports, too, but that's the main one) and even then it's so full of criminals and corrupt officers that it's practically an independent city-state all on its own--it's basically Roanapur. the main reason that they only have Port Moresby is because every time they try to exert control over the inland regions they consistently suffer horrific casualties at the hands of the local wildlife and weather patterns, and on the rare occasions they actually get close enough to try doing anything to the natives they're taken out pretty quickly, so eventually they just stopped trying and learned to live with it.

EDIT: i added a little more to the map and, since no one else has posted yet, i re-uploaded it. the only change is the addition of Madagascar and a further expansion of Soviet territory with borders for Central Asia prepared, which will apply either way if they're still SSRs or become aligned to China. and no one mention the Kazakh border--my hope is for this to have a POD in 1948, and in any case it'll be in the 20th century, well after that border's already been established as IOTL

Map of the world in 1914

What basically happened is that Russia was successfully able to industrialize sooner under Peter the Great and largely beat the ottomans to a pulp in a period of 30 years. Russia began to become ever more expansionist taking Mongolia from the collapsing Quing dynasty in 1841 and Sinkiang in 1868. In the Balkans the Russians fought two wars against the Austrians, one for Galicia, the other for Bosnia. Germany unified but seeing the Austrians as weak sided with the Russians. In Afghanistan the Russians won the Great Game after their invasion of the country after the failed British campaign. The Russians had captured Hawaii in the 1870s but lost their Oregon colony after a war against the United States. Cuba threw itself off from Spain and became a US protectorate, meanwhile you guessed it and the Russians fought their own war against the Spanish and gained Guam and the Philippines. In the Race for Africa the Russians gained Ethiopia from their colonies in Eritrea, Somaliland, and Sagallo (you can guess)
during the scramble for Africa (in this universe the Russians also tried to nab the Congo at first but they knew they couldn't risk a war with Britain so they also allowed the Brits to take southern Hejaz while the holy cities of Mecca and Medina were given to the Saud Kingdom.

With Slovakian and Czech nationalism rising all of requires is some guy getting shot to spark a war.

On one hand, butterfly gets executed by mortar, on the other hand, RUSSIA STRONK

Won I like this.

Does any of the native Rebellions successful? Or the Boers?

Ok, so I started my next WIP. This time it's a future cold war scenario of two random countries. Naturally with my luck, I was given Uruguay and the Central African Republic by the generator. I need suggestions on how to make a future cold war between these two states possible. Any suggestions?

Thermonuclear war takes out most of the Northern hemisphere plus Brazil, Argentina, Australia, and South Africa; Uruguay is a beacon of freedom and democracy (and legal cannabis, to take the edge off and all) in post-war South America, while the Central African Empire takes the opportunity to expand dramatically in every direction it can get away with, especially into the ruins of the Congo to its south.

I don't think I've ever seen an Allied map with Friedrichshain labelled as Horst Wessel before. Although that was of course its legal name under the Nazis, so I assume this map was just printed before they got around to actually taking over and changing the name.

Considering this was well-received, would it be safe for me to continue a short series on the development of Mars post-Bombing? Whether or not I finish the series would depend on whether or not I make it interesting enough for people to comment on it, and whether or not I make it interesting enough for me to continue to care about it.
