This was fun to make. More or less what it says on the tin. Syria as of *checks clock* right now gets sent to a virgin earth. I don't have a clear-cut outline of the timeline, but I'll be happy to try answering questions all the same.
First: I love the little updated Worlda Syria by the title, it's nice to see an update for it and it looks good.
Second: What's life like in the Democratic Federal System? Politics?
Third: Is that a communist state on the Black Sea?
I really like this map and would love to see a version of this map with Iraq instead of Syria.
To be fair, there's apparently a million American expats in Mexico (not to mention tourists as CannedTech said). So in this case, it makes sense that an American state could be re-established (although I could see it eventually annexed by Mexico too).
And also in fairness to Beedok, most of her Letter ISOT worlds don't have a mini-US.
Here is my Großdeutschland WW1 German Victory. The POD for this map is the Germany never invaded Belgium to attack France, instead the held the line in Elsaß-Lothringen meaning the British never entered the War. Using their forces to keep France away they mobilize their forces to aid their allies in Russia but in doing so Austria-Hungary fractures resulting in Austria being absorbed into the German Empire. With the weakened France from the recent Franco-Prussian War, Germany is able to take Paris and secure the victory on both fronts.
This is where Britain comes into the conflict because they cannot have the Germans having dominance over Europe. While Britain is the Naval power, Germany is the dominant military force of the land. The British would lose and Germany would cement being the dominant force in Europe.

Another Episode of Valdore does a Nightrise Map! As you might know, Nightrise is a project that is constantly improved and so there are some impressions of it that may already be obsolete. But all posts regarding Nightrise are closed and solid themselves, so the reader reads a story not used in the Nightrise project, but still a timeline that should be understandable without any help.

No, all that Slovene stuff doesn't have to do with the trump hype. I made this tl before he even went candidate so shut up and stop thinking all that Slovenophilism is because of the prez.

(If you have difficulties understanding some information, you might read a small introduction to the Night Rise timeline first:
To understand my timeline, you will first have to understand the term "Awakening", which will be widely used in this post/thread. The Awakening is a dramatic event that occurs around 1852-1856/1860 (dependent on location) in the Night Rise timeline. It is generally used to refer to the (re)emergence of magic into the world. This was to be a very catastrophic event for most of the people in the world. For some, it brought great opportunities, for others it caused great strife.
The term Awakening is also used to refer to the emergence of magical talent in any specific individual. Anyone who begins to show magical talent is said to have been Awakened, and those who can/do use magic actively are said to be Awakened. Variations on this theme are used to describe people who are not full magicians. The sudden change from the state where magic was working caused a lot of unrest and chaos in the mainly christian countries in europe. as result, those states tried to fight the awakened citizens like a plague, which resulted in a conflict of the unhuman wars. While most attribute the Awakening to a single date based on some ancient solar calendar, the Awakening actually happened more gradually over the period of several years.
This results in so-called "demonic revolutionary wars" between the government and its 'satanic citizens' which occur around a few years after the awakening in the respective area. They can be compared to a civil war or the Thirty years war. The most prominent war compilation is the one in Central Europe , around two years after Central Europe Awakening, with the war going on for 5-10 years.
The point when the war changes from looking worse for the demonic faction, two persons of another 'world' (OTL/OTL-like), who actually were "demon hunters"(archangel subtype), were sort-of ISOTed with their Van and Caravan Trailer to this time. However, in the other world they were raised as humans and atheists so they denied the claim of the church to eradicate all Demons which made them "Fallen Angels".
The First is Friedrich Grünewald, who will lead the Slovene revolution into success due to progressive strategies, tactics and, somewhat, technologies. His friend Paul Eisenacher firstly serves as technological instructor for Slovenia/Germany until he gets his own kingdom in Scandinavia after Sweden-Norway was defeated in 1873. Also, both are angels/Angelic beings which is why they don't age. Perfect for Evil overlord knowledge, right?!
Nightrise Short: Slovenia and the Foundation of the German Kaiserreich
If you live outside of the German Kaiserreich or its allies, you'll probably never heard of the Slovene. If you live in the German Kaiserreich, and especially if you are Hungarian, or polish, you'll wonder, why does this little Volk, that has less people than the inhabits of Warsaw, Budapest or Hamburg, get so much attention by the German Kaiserreich?
Its because this little Volk is often overlooked when looking at the foundation of the German Empire.
Yes, exactly, the Slovene, prior dominated by the Roman Empire, Francia, Habsburgs, and since 1862 living under the German Kaiserreich. So what in the name of Kaiser Friedrich makes this dipshit clan of slavs so important that it's language importance surpasses even Hungarian and Polish, although these are the second and third largest languages of Germany?!
The story begins with the (un)holy clustermess of the German Confederation. You will also catch easily that in 1854, the Slovene Rebellion began which led eventually to the foundation of Germany.
What comes next? Right, the arrival of the two Time Travelers Friedrich Grünewald and Paul Eisenacher. And that the first one later founds the Kaiserreich and becomes Kaiser is also known to you? Good.
But there's the point: the time between the Arrival of the two and the foundation of the Kaiserreich.
Within almost the entire time of that period, Friedrich was King of a Kingdom widely known as the Kingdom of Austria, although it actually was the Kingdom of Slovenes, or also known as the First Slovene State. It existed from November 1855, shortly after the marriage of Friedrich and his fiancé Melanija, until 1862, where it's juridical body was scrapped and replaced by the Kaiserreich.
This kingdom was to give the newly arisen Demonic Revolutions an identity. One that distinguishes itself from the Habsburg Empire, to show that this wouldn't become a reformed Habsburg state, but rather a completely new state.
It also was a symbolic foundation:
Until now, the demonic riots and civil wars were just, well, riots. Little of them actually were organized and most European Nations already saw themselves crushing the rebellions just as every other. However, the foundation of a "demon state" showed that these riots weren't just "riots". They were able to found an organized military body on an international level.
The reason why Slovenia mostly is confused with the name Austria is easy: it's more convenient, both today and back in 1856-1862. The Area of Slovenia's possessions, be it either organized, territory or Mandate, comprised of the former Austrian empire with the exception of Veneto-Lombardy, controlled by the Venetian Vampire "Republic".
Additionally, many nations refused the existence of this country until 1862 and claimed it to be "just a temporary government in Austria."
This also led to confusion:
Although Laibach (Ljubljana) was de jure the capital of Slovenia, de facto the King and Queen almost exclusively lived in Vienna using the way more extensive buildings of the Habsburg metropolis rather than the small forum of the provincial town. Since the orientation of Slovene politics aligned itself towards the foundation of a german Kaiserreich, it also was decided that Vienna would be the largest and most important city of this planned empire.
The consequent switch in-between Schönbrunn palace and Hofburg castle led to the construction of the first underground Railway for the Kaiser in 1857-1861, making Slovenia the First Nation to have an underground. Today, The track is used publicly as part of U1 line. It also was during the existence of This state when Vienna was promoted to its today Greater Vienna borders.
But Slovene organization was even more confusing:
Slovenia proper only consisted of the Contiguous areas of Cisleithania, with the kingdom of Hungary being a territory of Slovenia, divided into three areas: Croatia, Danubia and Transylvania. Originally, the area was meant to be split between ethnic groups or other governments, but the local governments within these territories accepted to get integrated into Germany should Slovenia be able to unite it.
Eventually, the area was reset to its pre Revolution borders with the sole kingdom of Hungary and the sole kingdom of Croatia, becoming the Reichsländer(Reich's States) of Croatia and Transdanubialand.
Transdanubialand was a compromise of the military districts of Danubia and Transylvania, giving it the name.
It was decided that dividing between Ethnics or/and Landscapes was either impossible, too difficult to manage or too expensive, and so it was decided that the area should get a neutral name according to its two major areas, the Transylvanian Carparths and the Danubian lands.
Dalmatia was, in exception of Zadar, a so-called mandate which basically was a puppet nation.
This Kingdom and its possessions eventually invades Warsaw, Silesia to ensure Viennese Hegemony over Germany, and Munich, the Lowlands and Paris to found the glorious German Kaiserreich in 1862.
((I again have the feeling that this is written in very poor English))
A preview of my next map. Manitoba, from 1891, is sent back in time to 1791...with a caveat. The Manitoban population has been turned into a God-Empire, that is to say, the population universally (sort of) agrees that it's in their duty to help their country expand and prosper, and to eventually unite humanity under their nation. People there are fully normal, read books, have sex for fun, etc., except they're all very polite and considerate to each other, and ultimately work for the good of society. Society is always at the forefront of their minds. The God-Empire is ultimately humanitarian, and doesn't like taking life, but will do so if it deems necessary. Just ask the thousands of natives they've massacred thus far, a far cry from the millions in OTL, but still.
Time spent with God-Imperials will gradually turn you to their side, especially if you're from a culture similar to 1891 Manitoba (the Anglo-Canadians, French-Canadians, or the natives). The conversion has been completed with the downtime Canadians, as well as with the natives and whites in the unorganized territories of the Midwest. Now it's time to get cracking on the United States, proper.
The notable thing about this series is that the God-Empire is not recognized as unnatural by any of the other powers, like in RoyalPsycho's hive mind series. Just a very productive, energetic society, in which the society works for a common goal, and after spending a lot of time with Manitobans, you wind up agreeing with them.
The full map of the first part of this series will come later this week, and it takes place in 1841. Europe and North America are finished. You are looking at the full extent of the God-Empire of Manitoba in 1841.
Nice! I would imagine the majority of those 500 million Burmese live in the Bengal delta: they're not going to be able to support more than a fraction of that with 1960s farming tech in their rather mountainous country. Heck, even with that area I imagine they're overcrowded: probably haven't expanded further up the Ganges due to fear of losing control of settlers. What are those independent states in the Colorado/upper New Mexico area?
I'm a bit surprised Morocco hasn't just conquered Mauritania outright and put an end to the embarrassing slave thing. They have more than 8 times their population and 20 times their GNP, at least "right now".
OK, WIP again: should be finished tomorrow, but I'm putting it up now since I said I'd put it up Saturday, although technically it's Sunday.
Great map as always! Seems like the Franks got utterly destroyed (safe for those at the coast). How did the Ostrogoths manage to push the Saxons to the south and conquer northern Germania?

More a matter of somewhat butterflied central Asian invasions knocking the Saxons south and the Ostrogoths moving in from the east to take their place. And a fair number of Franks took to the sea and are currently competing with the Angles and Jutes for control of England. Of course, this is still open to debate.

Minor nitpick: your borders between *Denmark and *Sweden and *Sweden and *Småland and *Sweden cut right through the OTL centers of power in Götaland:
Östgöta slätten and Västgöta slätten (just look up Skara and Linköping on Google maps). Those areas are fertile islands surrounded by a vast sea of forests. They wouldn't be split in the middle.
Isn't that just another reason for him to see it? Who's going to take him seriously if he's talking about Swedezerland and calling England Greater London (By the way, that's a place in England.)
It seems that there will be Americans in almost every world. Probably pitied or looked down upon a little, outside of when you get to the Us three years from now.
Electing Trump is actually less bad in this situation though. The US world will see greenhouse gas production plummet either way, questionable foreign policy stops mattering, protectionist policies become a lot more palatable, etc. Likewise Brexit is suddenly not an issue.
Hey, at least it's not the huge-ass clock tower-slash-hotel that's one earthquake away from flattening the Grand Mosque. Some of the Malaysian Muslims may be pretty puritanical of late, but most aren't, and honestly would have done a better job safeguarding old Islamic historical sites. Better them than the Saudis, I'd say.
Fair enough, but the various worlds are supposedly in contact with each other. We don't know how quickly the US ISOT made contact with the other worlds so the small expat nations might serve as representatives in some of them. Not too sure about that, but it could work for some of the worlds. And I think there have been a fair few ex-Chinese and ex-Japanese expat community nations made as well.
And many of these mini-US states have little in common with one another culturally. Let's not forget the US is only a little over 200 years old today, and with have been separated for 200 years before contact is remade. The mini-Chinas scattered about (that are nearly as common, there's one here too) will actually be far easier to assimilate.
Those states are a mix of natives who wanted to try to build their own nation and folks who craved the frontier life. They're doing alright at Mexico's aid/trade.
The League includes Malta, Macedonia, Montenegro, New Serbia, New Italy (barely Italian), and a few other statelets.

Well, Burma proper is apparently quite self sufficient food wise at 53 million, so can probably squeeze in a fair number more people and still survive, the Thai regions are able to support maybe 20 million people, but still a good 4/5th or so live in the Bengal Delta, and are growing harder to control all the time.
Those states are native dominated, mining rich, and low density along the Colorado.
Mauritania doesn't really have anything that makes it work conquering.
