New-England republic: From Boston, to New-york, all the way to Philadelphia, the citizens of the republic consider themselves as the true descendant of the defunct United-States. Heavily damaged from the apocalypse, these city have been reclaimed by peoples from inland, either attracted to the glory attached to their name or because they were fleeing the lawless lands. Rebulding these cities, the new inhabitant also rebuilded the spirit of the USA; through incredible hardship, they were able to establish a republic, were citizen are free and can vote to elect their leader.

WE WILL PERSEVERE!

...On an unrelated note, I might just move to Canajoharie.

The Green Revolution was one of the two, along with the Neolithic revolution, that utterly shifted the global food production. There were some smaller shifts in the medieval era and early industrial era (a lot of that Industrial era stuff being part of the same shift as the Green Revolution really), but for the most part human food production hasn't had massive shifts.

And 3D printing will have very little impact on agriculture? It's okay for food prep, but of little impact for farming. Lab grown meats might make a difference, but will probably take some time.

I almost forgot about in-vitro meat production which has seen massive advancements. In-vitro meat production, 3-D printed foods and further GMO and biotechnologies can make a difference to where and how food can be grown in quality and quantity by the mid to late 21st century. The map quoted earlier assumes current 2010s agricultural and food preparation practices, not projected advancements in biotechnology, food preparations, or agricultural science.

Things like GMO drought-resistant crops or salt-water-tolerant crops and other advancements may push farming southward to dryer and arid areas. Maybe.

Well when the US and Great Britain implode in on themselves you kinda have that happen.

I'd like to see a pre-implosion map. That big light grey blue state is improbably vertical, unlikely to have the population to hold onto all the territory with other competitors, and pan-handle-ish, not making much sense either as warlord conquests or as something that broke away from a larger state in one piece. And that pink state is one of those "two guys and a moose" regimes I've complained about in the past - if it's supposed to be an Amerindian/Inuit state, repeat after me: when shit goes does in North America, native Americans always get the shaft. :)

Ah, the big blue state is actually a lawless land, it has no official government but is vaguely protected by the Midwestern libertarian regime. Hence why it's blue rather than listed as lawless. It's a "anarcho capitalist" area. Anything can be bought or sold there.

The pink state is the Hudson's bay company, which is a puppet of the Corporation. (The massive Indian state). You'd think it would be hard to control from that distance and your right. But literally no one wants to bother to fight the Corporation for a smidge of useless land.

So, just guessing here...

Russia kicked Japan's ass in retaliation. Japan damaged badly enough that never invades China, leading to a more successfully modernizing non-capitalist China. *WWI goes a lot better for the allies, Russia wins all the marbles?

As the portions of South Tyrol shown here are the German speaking areas, I imagine it would be kept with the rest of Austria. Also, what is that small area on the Danubian Adriatic coast? A rump Dalmatia or a city region?

NOT my map. But its a cool map!

Plus, it makes me imagine ISOT scenarios centered around the drive time lines (which are basically how connected the areas are to those around them). Like imagine ISOTing all the region out to the 2-4 hours drive back to the 13 colonies or something haha.

Sorta' looks like a "regions that will be incinerated" map. Well, I like to imagine it is anyways. Cool in any case!

I totally forgot about this until just now! I got excited about it ~5 years ago but now that it's nearly here, I'm in the 0-2 hour range! Yesssss.
