Thank you for not making the Axis near as evil as they were IOTL, because otherwise I can't really stomach these kinds of maps (with their implications of mass genocide and all). Without those implications, it's pretty nice (though I feel like the Axis would probably rejigger some borders, out of spite if nothing else, and also that obviously this kind of Threeist division of the world could never actually happen).

I feel the same way- hence why I enable a takeover of Germany by military leadership. Referring to borders (especially ones in China and the like) I try to avoid touching lines if I don't know everything about why they're there. And regarding the Threeist division, well, this is a map 3 years post-war, so things are going to change up a bit, but for the most part everyone is just rebuilding.

Here's a very early, very unpolished and very not set in stone WIP. The names on my makeshift easy-to-remember legend might give some clues. I still should have taken people's advice when they said that the colors are going to do me in.

Oh hell yeah, Dreamlands FTW!

Uhhhh....

War still kills a lot of people. And I doubt that Nazi Germany just allows political opponents to live. Conquering the USSR leads to a lot of communists in your borders, meaning a lot of people who hate you, and that means a lot of people need to be killed.

Any timeline where the Axis exists as fascist powers means a lot of people die.

Though if Germany isn't absolutely morally repulsive ITTL, maybe their alliance during WWII wasn't just one of convenience?

This is what I felt would be reasonable. Per my understanding, OTL Finland only allied with Germany to get back at Russia for the Winter War, they actually despised the Nazis. Here, the Fins were better allies with the Germans, who had supported Finland in the Winter War (and actually helped to make the war a stalemate, rather than a costly soviet victory) and thus forged good relations.

I concur, to a degree. They're by no means the good guys, but Germany is still relatively democratic, with a movement to restore the Hohenzollern monarchy gaining ground. Italy is notorious for her intolerance of political dissidents. Japan is the worst, where those who refuse to worship the Emperor face execution or banishment. Lots of Russians were opposed to the Communist regime, since it meant starvation for most of them- here, the majority of the Soviet elite (oh the irony) fled to Siberia, where a lighter Japanese hand let them live. There are no mass executions ITTL, though there are some political refugees hiding out in the Americas where all three superpowers have a lesser influence. Ultimately, this TL makes an ordinary Axis victory (say, Man in the High Castle) look horrific. In short, life ITTL isn't exactly all sunshine and daisies, but you don't have people disappearing into the night or being executed publicly.
