I know that there are more infographic maps, but are there the same number of states as before, with the same names, or have more states been added?

In answer to your question, this is the old version of Wales.

Hi everyone, I present you my first participation in a MotF contest (MotF 211: Last Man Kneeling - Entry Thread). Don't hesitate to give your opinion. ;)

The last red Banner

"The first Prophet, Kaal Maath the Scholar, comes to see the Qtzesar,
He showed him the Scythe that would cut the evil King.
The Qtzesar didn't listen to the Prophet.
The second prophet, Lehen Hin the Brave, came to the Qtzesar,
He showed him the Hammer that would crush the evil King.
The Qtzesar didn't listen to the Prophet.
The third prophet, Stahl Ahalin the Warrior, came to the Qtzesar,
He had with him the Scythe, the Hammer and the Purple Cloak of the Revolution.
The Qtzesar was dead. »

Suwietism is one of the oldest religions in the world. Its origins are lost in the Flood of Fire 2000 years ago. As far as we know from our writings and oral chants, an evil King ruled over a powerful Empire in the Far North. This bloodthirsty Monarch enslaved the people, plundering and slaughtering all those who opposed his rule.Three prophets went to meet this King, announcing the end of his Empire if he did not change. The King did not listen to them and persecuted them. After the death of the first two prophets, the third prophet, Stahl Ahalin, led the revolt with the weapons of his predecessors and the Purple Cloak. He killed the Evil King and took the title of "Father of the Peoples".
He founded the Holy Suwiet Kingdom. In this Kingdom everyone lived happily, the poor and destitute ate their fill and the exploited hunted the Kah-pital in the snows of the north, the Gulag. The Suwiet people built powerful cities and towns never seen anywhere else. Stahl Ahalin decided to liberate the other peoples of the Earth. But the Kah-pital led by Baron Nuar, brother of the Qtzesar, invaded the Suwiet Kingdom. The Suwiet people endured many of the horrors of this war but succeeded in driving the invaders back to the western confines of the continent.
Baron Nuar, not accepting his defeat, crossed the ocean to take refuge on a cursed continent. From there he prepared a Horror that would sweep the world. He provoked a Flood of Fire on all the cities of the World, causing the death of millions of people. His demonic fire transformed the rich and abundant earth into soiled and sterile land, making the people living there sick. Stahl Ahalin, seeing the destruction of the Suwiet Kingdom, took his people to the mountains of the south, his homeland spared from the flood. Stahl Ahalin before he died gave the red banner of Suwiet and asked his followers to spread it over the whole earth. He also promised his return before the end of time to lead all peoples to Freedom and reveal the name of God.

When he died, his tomb became the centre of all Suwiet pilgrimages. His disciples set out to spread the Suwiet faith with a red banner each. These spread throughout the known world, on all four continents, driving out the last Kah-pital monarchs. But for 1000 years Suwiet has been in decline. Many people reject the red banners. Entire peoples turn their backs on the faith of the three prophets, preferring to bow down before idols. A powerful empire in the Far East, Bharat spreads a new pagan cult on the lands of Suwiet.
In addition, barbarians from the north, coming from the Gulag lands, plunder and ransack the towns and cities of the Kingdom. Finally, the poisons of the earth caused by the Flood are spreading more and more over the last inhabitable lands. Baron Nuar's miasmas kill newborn babies and men in the prime of life.

For many, the end of time has come and the return of the Third Prophet and his two companions is imminent. But will they forgive their followers the decadence and decline of Suwiet? Will they save the people turning their backs on Baron Nuar hidden on his continent? Will we give the meaning of the name of God, "CCCP"?

I always love post-apocalyptic cultures based on warped history. Good work!
I had a lot of fun doing it. :)
What I like very much when I read postapocalyptic stories that distort our era is that it also makes us question the past eras that we try to study with a "neutral gaze" but who could possibly be deviated from for lack of more information.

Love this so much! Btw who is "Baron Nuar"? I can't really figure out which person (or persons) he could be based on the name.
Baron Nuar is a reference to "Black Baron", a Soviet song during the Civil War. Baron Nuar corresponds somewhat to Hitler in the Great Patriotic War as well as to the capitalist states of the West (USA, UK, France, Germany), the nuance between the Second World War and the Cold War disappearing with time.

So for AIFF, since both the republicans and democrats are not existing after the civil war, I need some names for the 3 main parties. Here's their ideologies:
Socially left, fiscally right, think TR's progressives, but more involved with equality.

Conservatives, but less racist, more wanting status quo.

extreme Socialist, to the point that they're holding onto the edge, although there's large minorities of Demsocs and Anarchists.

AIFF? But Socialist or communist (or Labor, or Workers etc) should work for the last one. Maybe use some of these words at the same time?

Oh my, I do love this. Can't wait to see more, is it all going to stay on these channels, or are you considering making a separate thread for World Raj 2.0 @Alex Richards?
The level of detail here is awesome, and I am looking forward to how you bring across the different points of history into this revival.

Really looking forward to the next update, and best of luck with progress,

That explains what AIFF is I guess. One of the first two parties could also be called National (or Nationalist), Union, Constitutional or Patriotic (or Patriot).

I'm not really active enough on this site to justify doing it in its own thread, so the main one will do.

I might end up doing a test thread linking to the various posts however.

The Western Abyss
Point of divergence: in around 1300 AD, there's an earthquake that blocks off the strait of Gibraltar. (Okay, this is a bit ASB, but still).
No longer having any water flowing in from the Atlantic, the Mediterranean slowly starts to dry up...
Fastforward seven hundred years, and here's where you end up.
Europe, in the year 2000.

Major Powers of Europe
10) The Caliphate of Rum (a.k.a. Turkey). United the Turkish tribes of Anatolia, and went on to take over the Balkans and the Italian peninsula as the sea slowly dried up. Despite its location, Rum is a very different beast to what one would expect in this region IOTL, for it is a much drier and less densely populated area. No longer a main trade hub, Rum is more akin to Central Asia in climate now, where the Turks' ancestors had come from. The deep lakes of the former Mediterranean basin can only even be visited in the winters, for in summers it is too warm for human habitation. The population is predominantly Sunni Muslim and Turkish-speaking- while its people are descended from a variety of places, such as the Greeks and Italians, Arabs from North Africa who had migrated north as their homelands dried up, and others moving throughout the Caliphate, they generally all ended up assimilating into the Turkish populace.
11) The Roman Empire. The strongest European Christian power to remain in existence, the Roman Empire received a lot of immigrants from the Mediterranean region (predominantly Italy) as the lands there dried up. The Italians and Slavs from the south easily settled into German lands which had been depopulated by the Black Death of the 1350s. Has been the subject of multiple attempts at conquest by Rum to the south; it's slowly progressing technologically, but nothing like Europe's progress IOTL.
18) The Wu Dynasty (or Western Wu). An Chinese dynasty which had briefly stretched all the way from the Pearl River to the Volga in the 1700s, it soon fell apart due to its large size, but by that point the Volga River region had had enough Chinese settlers that the Wu Emperor fled from Nanjing to Sarai as he saw his empire disintegrating. Slowly reviving itself and strengthening, the Wu now have a Baltic port and are demonstrating their power more and more. An interesting hybrid culture has developed here, as the Chinese settlers of the Volga (or A-de Shui) interact with Slavs, Tatars, etc, and the culture is increasingly different to that of China proper.

Medium Powers
5) The Kingdom of France. Having lost its south to Aragonese jihadis, and increasingly irrelevant in comparison to the Roman Empire, France is sliding down towards minor power status.
6) The Kingdom of Aragon. Now has a Muslim king, but its population is still mostly Christian. It's a bridge between the Christian and Muslim worlds.
8) The Kingdom of Spain. Castile and Portugal united; it's now locked in an endless sort-of cold war with Cordoba, back and forth and back and forth...
9) The Caliphate of Cordoba. The city of Cordoba was recaptured in the 1300s by the Marinid sultan, who subsequently claimed the title of Caliph; the lands of al-Andalus were repopulated by Arabs and Berbers of North Africa who found their homelands increasingly uninhabitable.
15) The Kingdom of Prussia. Descended from the Teutonic order.
17) The Kingdom of Poland. Sandwiched between three great powers, trade passes through Poland a lot.
19) The Kazakh Horde. Central Asia keeps shifting hands between various different states following the Wu's loss of control of the region.
21) The Armenian Empire. Founded by a Muslim Armenian emperor, it has successfully challenged the Turks' dominance of the region.
22) The Sultanate of Egypt. It's not very powerful, but at least it controls the holy cities.
23) The Persian Empire. Cycles between various dynasties, but has steadily remained fairly powerful.

Minor Powers
1. Iceland; 2. Ireland; 3. Scotland; 4. England; 7. Navarre; 12. Denmark; 13. Sweden; 14. Finland; 16. Russia; 20. Georgia.

As of 2000, the evaporation of the Mediterranean is finally complete, but as the world enters its third millennium, change is on the horizon. Malian explorers have reported discovering an new continent to the West, although in fact it had been discovered on the other side by the Japanese hundreds of years prior, and the island of Hokkaido (Vancouver Island IOTL) is fairly well-settled by the Japanese.

In Egypt, the Sultan is raising the question of whether it would be at all viable to cut a canal from the Red Sea through Suez, in order to refill the Mediterranean Sea... such a policy would be unpopular, but this Sultan is rather eccentric and seems to be very interested in the idea...

And in a striking contrast to Europe's stagnation in technological progress, on the Indian subcontinent an Industrial Revolution is brewing...

One thing is for certain, the next millennium will look very different to the last.
