A post-nuclear America, very 1983: Doomsday inspired, but the real idea came from a very bad story I wrote when I was 13 about a Mexican-American kid who somehow became "High-King of California" amidst an unspecified societal breakdown.

Seriously didn't several published AH authors do stuff that have the British restore their Empire while America collapses? And also with evil Afrikaners?

Didn't you know, Britain gains more oppressive government following an apocalypse, whilst America gains less government... :p

I'm with Gokbay. It actually kinda annoying in my eyes the amount of the times the British are restoring their Empire in Nuclear War/Society Collapses works. Nothing against you, FesteringSpore, just the trend itself.

If anything, I like to see the UK collapsing, and it be the USA, or Freach, or Germans that march in to restore order. Or forever remain a dark patchwork of tribes no one ever goes to....

I kept this because it was originally written in my shitty middle school story, so here I am.

Speaking of which, if y'all really don't like Britain that much, I edited it to have the Canada Canada instead of British Canada.

I am very interested in this world on the precipice you've created @KolyenuKS . what is the relationship between Persia and the British Empire I wonder? Because it looks like it will be a battleground of American, English and Russian armies.

Do you think you will be making a sequel of this map or is it a one off?

Persia's American Leaning, with promises of land, and more importantly, restoring (partial) Mughal Rule over India.

I'm thinking of making a map + graphics thread on it, also the Kansas map that I posted earlier is part of the same universe.

Are you going to make a description for your card? I like it very much! What's the POD?

There are a big handful of PODs in RMG ‘17 in general; Germany replaces Britain as status as world superpower, Islam becomes a thing in the 1800s, etc. For the Indian subcontinent, other than a few nibbles around the edges no one fully colonized the entire thing, leading India to become fractured until external pressure to unify them up.

I'm not sure what the POD would be, or even if there was a specific POD instead of two timelines that had minute differences at first that escalated drastically around the 12th-13th centuries CE. I know for a fact that there was no Genghis Khan ITTL, though. Also, the eastern parts of the Holy Roman Empire had a West Slavic population for longer, hence why Poland has that land now.

Finished the American Diaspora map. Was going to do footnotes to give some sense of the rest of the world, but honestly I got too lazy. Feel free to ask about it though.

The American Diaspora

"Diaspora refers to the development of a population that, for whatever reason(s) has moved from its homeland in search of better conditions. In Greek, the root word comes from a verb that means "I scatter". It is perhaps this connotation that is more accurate in referring to the American Diaspora. For in the wake of the American Revolution, millions of individuals and families were forced to leave their homes. There is a perverse irony in fleeing from what was once dubbed 'The Land of Opportunity', of the New Colossus sending out hordes of poor, tired, huddled masses yearning for freedom. But it is not unjustified.

The Revolution, formed from the contradictions of a promise of freedom and wealth clashing with the reality of the worst excess of industrial capitalism metastasized in a bloody, brutal, overthrow of the previous regime. The opulence that so characterized the immediate Postwar period masked the grossest inequities of the modern world. There is no one cause for the revolution. Some have claimed the death of the Progressive movement in its cradle, others in the billions lost from financially supporting but not engaging in the First World War after the Entente suspended their wartime debts, several instead refer to the bloody suppression of labor, and even a few have laid blame on the refusal of the prewar regime for restricting immigration.

Whatever the reason, the Revolution came. The people rose up, challenging capital and bourgeoise liberalism for equity and dignity. That began 5 years of brutal war before the confirmation of the American Socialist Republic. That alone was enough for the upper and middle classes, alongside much of the navy to leave. But then came the fear. The Revolutionary Terror. The Purges. Forced assimilation. The Enlightenment. And finally, the pacification campaigns."

After a stalemate in the far eastern front in the civil war and pressures from both the Japanese, Central and American forces, an uneasy peace was signed between the Whites and the Red forces. While losing their male heir and both the Empress and the Emperor to the Reds, all three Romanov Sisters are alive and well in the newly fortified settlement of Olgograd (formerly Petropavlovsk). Olga reigns as Queen regent until she brings up a son to mature age.
