It's not a bad scenario by any means, albeit a little implausible, but as for the map itself: please don't mutilate Worldas like this. This map would be infinitely better-looking and more legible if it hadn't had a vignette effect applied and then been jpegged to hell and back. It's very dark and blurry, and you kind of have to squint to make out any details.

Fair enough. I just wanted to try different effects in paint.net.

@Tomislav Addai I like linguistic maps, and I like the effort you've put into this one. I'm impressed by the inclusion of often-overlooked groups in South China, India, and the Caucasus. However, when making maps like this, it's important to be consistent of the level of detail you portray. For instance, your map devotes at least three colors to what appear to be the Slavic languages, yet only two for the incredibly diverse Niger-Congo family, even though the former is probably more tight-knit than the latter. Also, the so-called "Khoisan" group is most likely not a family at all in the linguistic sense, so if you're willing to grant small families like Basque and Ainu their own colors, I would recommend doing the same for other small families in Africa I understand that this is a work in progress, but I hope that you can keep this in mind as you go forward, so that the map gives a fair and equitable depiction of the world's diverse tapestry of languages and cultures. Let me know if you would like any help.

Nice coastlines. Although (off-topic) calling yourself a REAL HUMAN BEING on the internet is only going to raise further suspicions: proclaiming yourself as a Lizard-Man from Cygnus V actually is less suspicious, because then everyone thinks you're role-playing.

HE KNOWS.

but seriously, thanks for complimenting the coastlines, it's the first time im going with this "rough" style of coastline.

Thank you for the feedback. As for the colours I have been using the "Linguistic Map Thread" colours where they had them, with giving the isolates Thier own colour. Indeed, the Niger Congo and Nilo Saharan could get more detail into them. As for the Khoisan, the butterflies haven't reached the area yet ..butand for most outsiders, it is indeed grouped together.

Slavic Germany.png

A map of a (mostly) West/South Slavic central European Empire, with a POD during the crisis of the Third Century. The early breakup of Rome into three states ends up creating three much more stable and durable empires, especially the Gallic Empire, which largely weather the Germanic invasions by absorbing and dispersing the tribes after repeatedly defeating them. A more powerful Magyar Khanate drives more Slavs westwards, pushing out the depopulated Germans, and Slavic nations emerge in central and southern Europe as a result. This is not to say that the Germanic peoples are wiped out; Hispania and North Africa will later shake off their shackles and establish syncretic Germanic-Native nations. Islam still emerges, and its conquest of both the "Palmyran" Greek Empire and the Sassanid Empire propels the Khawarijid Caliphate, a strangely democratic theocracy, into a golden age; hence the "AH".

Made a real nice worlda map from finding resources off line, the map itself was free to use from anyone. I just overlayed Donjon textures for land and water color textures for oceans.

Alternate (unrealistic) Germany after World War 2
This is a map exercise to disintegrate and dismember Germany after World War 2. It is not realistic, and has no timeline.

altgermanyafterww2.png

The North
Denmark annexes South Schleswig, including the Kiel Canal. Kiel itself is an internationalized City under Danish Protection. Areas south of the Kiel Canal are under strict military occupation

Hamburg is an internationalized City under British Protection
Bremen is an internationalized City under American Protection
The Netherlands annex territories according to the Bakker-Schut plan
Parts of the Ruhr Area not annexed by the Netherlands are internationalized, and under control of the Western Powers.
Both Belgium and Luxemburg annex some smaller border territories

The French Occupation Zone
France annexes a few border territories, including the City of Kehl directly next to Strasbourg. Areas under French Occupation are organized into the "Rhine Confederation", consisting of the Republics of Rhineland, Palatinate, Karlsruhe, Swabia and Alemannia, and the Saar Republic. The "Rhine Confederation" has no capital, no army, and all foreign policy is done by France. But at least the 6 Republics managed to coordinate and open their economies to each other. To rebuild their economies, they had to agree to more and more economic integration into France. The Confederation uses the French Franc. There are plans to further integrate the Saar Republic directly into France.

Bavaria

Bavaria is an independent republic, with a strong monarchist movement. There are demands for more autonomy in Franconia. Some Bavarians are still angry, that France integrated Lindau into the Swabian Republic, since now Bavaria has no access to the Lake Constance.

The East
Poland and the Soviet Union annex territories like OTL.
The Soviet Union annexes the islands of Rügen, Darß and Fehmarn as marine bases.
Poland annexes Görlitz
A Sorbian Republic, as a Soviet Puppet State is established

Berlin is divided between a Free City in the West, under Western protection, and the Eastern Part, under the control of the German Democratic Republic, but with heavy Soviet Military presence.
The German Democratic Republic controls East Germany, and the area of Lüchow-Dannenberg. But areas in Saxony and Thuringia, with heavy uranium mining are de facto under a stronger Soviet Control, to support Soviet Nuclear Projects.

The Federal Republic
The states of Holstein, Hannover, Westphalia, Hesse-Kassel, Hesse-Darmstadt and Württemberg form the Federal Republic of Germany, with Frankfurt as its capital (with special status). The Federal Republic has a common currency, but no common military, and is more federalized than OTL West-Germany.
Frankfurt, Hannover and Stuttgart are the largest cities. Many economic centers and transportation routes are lost.

The Confederate Civil War - 1891 A.D.

Part 2

This map is a remake of another quite bad map I made a few months ago for a small mini-timeline about a Confederate victory with a twist. The events of the Civil War itself are left ambiguous since the idea of the Confederacy achieving victory over the Union is quite frankly pretty unrealistic and the initial Southern war of independence isn't really the main focus, so I'll just leave it at quiet muttering about Order 191 and something about tacit European support. With all that said, here's a brief summary of the lore:

After their victory in the War of Secession in 1863, the Confederate States of America achieved full independence from the Union, successfully preserving the institution of slavery and gaining foreign recognition. However, not all was well. Nearly as soon as they had achieved independence, the CSA began splintering into two main political factions: the Democratic Party and the Whig Party. The Democrats, while incredibly racist, were the more moderate of the two factions, initially lead by Jefferson Davis and later Alexander Stephens, favoring a more centralized government, and by the late 1870s, the gradual abolition of slavery due to increasing lack of profitability. However, many former Whigs, particularly the new Confederate president Joseph E. Brown, saw the moderates of the Upper South as traitors to the ideals of white supremacy, small government, and Protestantism that the CSA was founded on, going so far as to move the capital to Atlanta in 1875 to get away from the Democratic influence of the Upper South. Meanwhile, numerous ideologies spread throughout the lower classes and slave population of the Confederacy, ranging from Communism to Black Nationalism, promising freedom from the chains of the plantation aristocracy. As industrialization made slavery less and less profitable, the Confederate economy sagged, European powers abandoned their support of the Confederacy, and the South became an international pariah. In 1884 the Boll Weevil devastated the Southern cotton economy, bankrupting numerous plantation owners virtually overnight and plunging the Confederate States of America into turmoil within a matter of months. After a wave of uprisings and lynchings that threatened to render the Confederacy impotent, Democratic president Clement C. Clay declared martial law, suspending the elections of 1886 until the crisis could be resolved. The Whig governors of Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, and Georgia declared Clay's government illegitimate, beginning the total collapse of the Confederacy. Soon after the Whig declaration, the armies of the USA and Mexico marched over the border, seeking to reclaim their former lands within the Confederacy. As the Confederate government split between the Whigs and the Democrats, the poor and enslaved of the CSA rose up as well, with the city of Baton Rouge, and soon the entire Mississippi Basin, being declared as the Socialist Federation of Dixie, the second true communist uprising in world history (the first being the Paris Commune), bringing in foreign volunteers from around the globe. However, many other anti-Confederate elements sought to avoid the Socialist Federation's rule, and declared a united front of Free Dixie, with Free Gullah and Free Tidewater soon following suit. The largely moderate Democratic state of Texas, seeing their neighboring states engulfed by revolt, declared independence as the Second Republic of Texas, abolishing slavery in order to avoid this fate, but by no means implementing racial equality. Southern Florida, in a similar situation of moderate Democratic affiliation, soon followed suit as the Republic of Florida with British support. Finally, the Indian nations of the former Indian Territory declared their independence as the Confederacy of Sequoyah, seeking to distance themselves from the conflict next door. By 1891 the Confederate States of America had collapsed into anarchy, and the scramble for power was anyone's game.

This is really nice. I also enjoy Confederate Civil Wars if only for the super irony of it all.

So how did the Civil War end in 1863?

How has the USA turn out between 63 to now?

No Mexican Empire? I would think a Confederate victory would go a long way in aiding Maximilian, or he still was defeated, and so the CSA has one less 'ally' on their borders.

I can't see how Richmond is still standing. The USA almost the whole state, and is totally surrounded.

Will they be a part two?

There will indeed be a part two, but I haven't made it yet and that will probably be the extent of where I go with this timeline. I didn't really think too much about the situations of the US or Mexico themselves TBH, and this is more meant to be a small miniseries than an actual timeline.

I'd really like to see part two and at least the aftermath of the war. Looks like the USA is getting Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee back at the very least, the question is what happens to the rest of the CSA.

Map I made for the contest in the Imaginary Maps subreddit, the prompt was "Ideology Swap", so I made a map of West Germany but the West are the commies.

I think what you're proposing is the most likely scenario about a surviving CSA. I don't remember where I read it, but somebody explained that the CSA was very similar to other states in South America (oligarchic dominant class practising slavery) and like them the CSA was going to experience instability, separatism, civil wars. I find the chronologies with an all-powerful and dominant CSA in America and the world unrealistic. Your story is more interesting. Can't wait for a sequel!

I'd really like to see part two and at least the aftermath of the war. Looks like the USA is getting Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee back at the very least, the question is what happens to the rest of the CSA.

Sequoyah too given I can't see the Native Americans being able to fight back against the much larger, and powerful USA.

If the USA is smart, they could support the Free Gullah and Free Tidewater to aid in their march if they really want to push southward into the Deep South, or at least take NC and so control the Upper Southland plus SC.

For Texas, the US could either side with Mexico (Recognizing it current territory gains to gain an ally in the South and box Texas in.) or cut a deal with the rest of Texas. (Promise to retake what Mexico have taken so far, and at beat, an status as a independent, yet puppet Republic of Texas may live.)

For some odd reason, I like the idea of a British backed/influence Republic of Florida and like to see more of it. And even that of the Socialist Federation of Dixie if only to see whatever they an hot burning mess, or not.
