To hop onto the Tigris-Euphrates <--> Rio Grande-Pecos ISOT bandwagon, I've edited them onto an elevation map of the middle east (from freeworldmaps.net).

[edit: Have a rough map of the borders immediately following an ISOT int o1400 BCE mesopotamia (more coming soon). The city names are taken from the records of neighboring states such as the Egyptians, Persians, Hittites and Hebrews. Two factors affected this. The American/Amrakani electronic records being destroyed before they could be transferred elsewhere, many of their computers were destroyed in the bronze age collapse natural disasters (just because the different names are fun, I'm not going for realism obviously), and the fact that the spoken English would be effected at least a bit by neighboring Semitic and Iranic languages. I will try to make a later map as well.]

Legend:
  • Makalan = McAllen
  • Montarai = Monterrey (the one in Mexico obviously)
  • Waraz = Juarez
  • Las Krusas = Las Cruces
  • Karlabad = Carlsbad
  • Addaas = Odessa
  • Pakas = Pecos
  • Albakurk = Albuquerque (the ee sound at the end got dropped)
  • Santafa = Santa Fe
  • El Paso = well, what do you think?

If this belongs in the shitpost thread, mods, please move it.
This is done quite nicely, but would you mind cross-posting to the ASB Map Thread? Here's the link if you need it.

"The last dynasty to grace the lands of Huaxia in the world of RMG 17, the Qiao Empire was the realm that had survived the ongoing waves of Imperialism brought by the German, Scottish, Portuguese, and other European powers. Though it manages to successfully reform itself, it is forced to give away many traditional customs and several vigorous programs enforced. At the end, the Qiao will be deposed as ideologies such as Rationalism and Communism and new rising powers such as Mongolia take over the ancient dynasty, and out of its ashes formes the People's Republic of China in 1993."

A map from FG that isn't about Historiae Mutetur? Madness!
well it kinda sorta is, its just from a different reverse map game

The map is too big, so heres the deviantart link for the good quality version:

I imagine the name of cities would be on signs everywhere, though those would get a bit worse for wear after sand storms hitting them too much. Plus not like there would be much extra paper around. I am surprised that the two groups didn't try to move into more temperate areas. Though as that involves moving into Anatolia, the Caucasus, and the Iranian platuea, I imagine a lot were in the way,

A fair point, thank you. Though signs do decay, I will admit I did not think of this in the three seconds of thought I gave the map.

As for the movement, this map shows the region immediately following the ISOT, so nothing has happened yet, however movement seems likely.

This is done quite nicely, but would you mind cross-posting to the ASB Map Thread? Here's the link if you need it.

Thanks, I will when I get the chance.

The State of Continental Europe after the Rise of the Third French Empire in the Aftermath of WWII c.1958 A.D.
NOTE: This is based on my HOI IV game where I played as France and restored the French Empire under Napoleon VI. It's also inspired by an earlier DBWI thread about a Third French Empire rising after WWII instead of the Fourth and Fifth French Republics.

Instead of surrendering in 1940 after the Fall of Paris and Metropolitan France itself, the French continue fighting on from North Africa. Napoleon VI who was fighting as a part of the French Foreign Legion manages to stage a coup and becomes the virtual dictator of the remaining French holdings in North Africa. Marshal Philippe Petain dies from a German artillery fire during the Battle of Paris and thus his reputation isn't tarnished in otl for him heading the Vichy Regime. Philippe Petain is used as a symbol of French Resistance and Napoleon eventually secures the loyalty of the remnants of the French military and proclaims himself Emperor of the French. The intact French Navy harasses the Italians and helps reinforce British Egypt while hampering Axis efforts in the Mediterranean. Napoleon recruits more of the French Algerians and uses the colonial troops to supplement the French losses after the Battle of France. Napoleon personally leading his men much like his forbear Napoleon I, makes him a popular figure in France itself and he becomes the face of French resistance instead of DeGaule in otl. Napoleon VI with his new Grand Armee manages to take Italian Libya and with the British help he secures the Mediterranean. Napoleon along with the Allies manage an invasion of France with the French forces invading from Italy and landing a Marseilles while the other Allies (US and UK) invade through Normandy. The impending arrival of Napoleon VI triggers massive revolts against their German occupiers. The German army retaliates against the increasing French resistance which only grew as the French Empire in exile kept scoring victories. The culmination of all this is the attempted destruction of Paris where Hitler tried having the Wehrmacht raze the city to the ground before the French got to the city. But riots from the Native Parisians and the imminent French Army forced a withdrawal from the city before any major damage could be inflicted. Napoleon after taking France is hailed as Emperor and is hastily coronated at Notre Dame. Afterwards the French army along with the other allies march across the Rhine. Motivated by the near destruction of Paris and the German retaliation against the French, the French army storms into Germany hell bent on revenge. Napoleon then annexes the Rhineland and together with the Soviets, the allied power march on Berlin.

Meanwhile in Germany, Hitler was killed in a Valkyrie style coup which triggered fighting among forces loyal to Himmler and those loyal to Erwin Rommel. Rommel surrenders to the French as tries to focus on the Soviets. The war which had been steadily growing unpopular in Germany, had led to an increasing protests in Germany which caused Himmler to become even more paranoid where he started an operation Nero style scorched Earth policy in Germany. This led to a similar nostalgia and romanticism of the Kaiserreich which saw Himmler arrest Crown Prince Wilhelm III and publicly execute him for treason against the German nation. This further angers the German people and Himmler's remaining forces begin deserting him en-masse.

Because the fighting in Germany is longer and more brutal, the French plan of dividing Germany is accepted. Though Stalin setup an East German Puppet state while the other allied occupation zones became Kingdoms. Napoleon installed Louis-Ferdinand as King of Westphalia and helped support other monarchs like Ruprecht of Bavaria regain his throne in Germany. This led to Germany eventually re-unifying as the Federal German Empire under Kaiser Louis-Ferdinand I. Though unlike the Kaiserreich of his grandfather Wilhelm II, the Kaiser has less powers and his power and influence is balanced by the other German Kings. Austria which fell under French occupation after the French defeated Mussolini, was reformed into the Imperial Habsburg Commonwealth with the Crowns of Austria, Bohemia, and later Hungary being reunited under Kaiser Otto I von Habsburg. In this timeline Royalism is seen as an alternative to Communism and Fascism as people like Churchill and Napoleon VI agreed that Hitler would have never rose to power had the German monarchy not been overthrown.

Napoleon VI rules France in a relatively authoritarian fashion with Martial Law implemented due to the fragile state of the French metropole after the devastation and horror of the war. Once France's economy began recovering, Napoleon began slowly liberalizing the structures of the Empire and restored civilian control of governmental affairs with France evolving into a semi-constitutional monarchy.

In regards to Eastern Europe, things are mostly the same except for East Germany retaining East Prussia and Hungary and Czechoslovakia not being a part of the Warsaw Pact. Another divergence from otl is that the Communists win the Greek Civil Wars which sees the Greek monarchy and government in exile retreat to Crete and Rhodes. In this timeline because Royalism was seen as a counter ideology to fascism with the advent of Napoleon VI taking power, Hungary saw calls for the return of Kaiser Otto I. Napoleon had essentially provided arms to Hungarian Revolutionaries which led to a successful Hungarian Revolution in 1956. This saw Austria re-unite with Hungary as a commonwealth where each state is autonomous and is under a personal union with the Archduchy of Austria. This increase in monarchism also saw the Italian monarchy narrowly win the referendum to retain it.

Napoleon VI was also inspired by Algerians fighting on behalf of France which allowed him to pursue a Civil Rights policy which saw Algeria and the rest of the Empire integrated into the French metropole with voting rights and universal citizenship being implemented. This along with France refusing to dismantle its Empire saw France break with the US and later the UK (though the UK and French Empire would cooperate out of pragmatism to try and prevent decolonization).

Belgium also ceased to exist here because the Royal Crisis of 1951 escalated unlike in otl and saw Belgium ripped apart with fighting between the Flemish and Walloons breaking out. This saw a Socialist government briefly come to power which saw the anti-Communist Napoleon VI invade Belgium on the pretext of restoring order. This saw France annex Wallonia.

What do you guys think?

I was continuing some work on a final version of my map and I wanted to put in an Antarctic nation with some extra land to allow for a reasonable climate for humans to inhabit. It can easily surpass Russia in world's largest nation by area with Antarctica plus essentially the area of Alaska with 2 and a half Madagascars.

The climate would pretty much be Northern Canada in the furthest places lakes go and it becomes more like Montana the further north you go. IDK, I haven't completely understood the weather impact over this region but I do know what the Kerguelen Islands looks like. The main island has a long mountain range that splits it in half, comparable to the Andes.

I really like this idea. Any other ideas for some minor alternate continents?

I think the antarctic circumpolar current might be diverted somewhat by this. Probably this impacts the western climate badly, and that might ripple out to, say, Perth.

Would the extra landmass disrupt the Antarctic Circumpolar Current? If so, that would allow for an even warmer climate relative to OTL on the Antarctic landmass.

It could. The warm water (and air? I'm not an expert) will be sent north, possibly joining the South Indian current or moving parallel to it until it reaches Australia, where the Antarctic Circumpolar current would be a bit further south and would thus turn back around around Tasmania, creating a Gyre south of Australia. It may also divert the Mozambique current, bringing warm air to the new landmass and the antarctic coast east of the Ross sea, and maybe even inside the large bay there. From there, the current (being a separate one from the Mozambique on ITTL would likely turn around at the Antarctic Peninsula and join the disrupted A-CP current. Here's an OTL modern Current Map for reference.

I've been going at this for a while now. If you check out my Citizens of a Dead Nation Index in the signature, you'll see a general idea of other alternative landforms. I have also previously posted an alternative Baltic geography where it's more like an interconnected lake system instead of a sea, and I think I also messed with Jutland.

I got another layer ready to post, basically with a large Arizona-sized island directly west of Equador and southeast of Hawai'i. Haven't firgured out the weather patterns there either since I am especially unfamiliar with the soecifics of how wind and current patterns flip around the Equator.

Sweet. This helps a lot to get a general idea. I guess I'm gonna also look at Caribbean currents since I got another layer that messes up the Caribbean region.

I mean, if you want exposed undersea plateaus, you could get the Ontong Java Plateau to be a new small landmass, there's also the Mascarene Plateau, a sort of "Greater Azores" landmass, where you raise the Azores plateau and/or other parts of the mid Atlantic ridge.

This is a good example. It's a "greater Azores"/Mid-Atlantic ridge map by rubberduck3y6 on Deviantart (who is not me, this is not my map, just an excellent example).

(I think I fixed everything now. You never notice the issues until it’s uploaded : P)

I had this trippy dream the other night so I sketched it out and wrote a very, very rough outline before I forgot it all.

PoD is unknown (maybe the 50s?), the current year is sometime in the 90s.

That swath taking up the former Eastern US has no official name but is referred to in official records only as ‘The State’, as they believe they’ll soon rule the world and thus have no need for a name. (Also because creativity isn’t their strong suit.) They’re Orwellian in every sense of the word - though a resistance movement has managed to form, even if it’s a mostly ineffectual one at that.

Due to their ownership of nuclear weapons the outside world is extremely reluctant to intervene in any way, outside of economic sanctions.

The Mississippi and Wabash rivers are the primary dividing line between the US and The State. Both sides maintain significant formations on both sides of the line though there’s a mile-wide DMZ between the two sides, Canada also maintains a DMZ with The State due to the loss of parts of Quebec and Ontario.

The Gulf of Mexico is a low-intensity conflict zone due to The State and the US both attempting to establish naval control there to cut off access to the other - The State has been winning but its slow decline is allowing the US to regain control of the Gulf once more. Mexico, who is neutral in the conflict, has given up trying to broker a peace deal in the Gulf.

The State’s teetering position thanks to decades of mismanagement, stagnation and isolation may prove an opening for the US and Canada to move in and liberate their former lands.
