Working on a global map in a sorta classroom, Nat-Geo style. Just a unfinished preview, if that is tolerated:

European Federation:

upload_2019-11-27_12-20-18.png

Basically, decades in the future, after an international project to reverse the effects of climate change, France and Germany unify and gradually bring in other Western European countries. This is the European Federation in late 2119, at its greatest extent.

I don't think I've ever seen an AH map of Abkhazia, so I figured I'd make a map of the region in my timeline Colonie Conservée

"Abkhazia has been a troubled region for much of it's history within Transcaucasia, filled with ethnic tensions and having little in the way of industry. While in recent years investment in it's economy, particularly in tourism and the wine industry have helped picked the nation up, it remains one of the poorest regions within Transcaucasia."

Wait... 394 million?
That's a population density of 117906 people per square mile, give or take. This is around the same density as Manila, Philippines. I guess it's...technically possible, but you're nearing not just the carrying capacity of the land but of humans being close to each other in general.

Edit: this also leaves a GDP-per-capita of a whopping 38 dollars and some change.
Honestly same tho.

Nice. What do the neo-Carolingian empire's two shades of blue indicate?

That kind of precision in population numbers is a bit silly.
After all it will change over the course of the year, and it can only be an estimate anyway.

"He Who Controls the Past, Commands the Future." - 1940 France & Italy ISOTed to 1812
Decided to give North America a shot. This'll likely be it though if there are questions about either post or something I didn't cover I'll do my best to answer them.

North America in 1822.
  • The arrival of France and Italy and the subsequent early end to the Peninsular War does not save New Spain (which became the Mexican Empire in 1820 though is still unrecognized by Spain as with the rest of the rebelling colonies), Spanish Florida (a huge money sink for Madrid and ends up being sold to the US in 1816 in an ultimately futile attempt to gain more funds to fight the rebelling Mexicans), or Santo Domingo (now Spanish Haiti which Spain had little control over anyways). Most of Spain's empire in the Americas is on the way out with only Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Guatemala remaining under control. The UT Spanish Republicans in King Ferdinand's court are desperately trying to convince him to cut his losses in Venezuela (which is essentially one bad day away from open civil war between royalists and Gran Colombian rebels) in order to focus on the homefront more, but he refuses as Venezuela is his country's last stronghold in South America, bolstered by colonial troops and colonists forced out of the rest of South America. To lose it or abandon it now would only give the Fascists and proto-Francoists all the ammunition they would need to gain support to remove him from the throne, sending Spain itself into chaos.
  • The only UT weapons involved in the dissolution of Spain's colonies are the ones in the hands of the French Foreign Legion, deployed to the Captaincy General of Guatemala as part of a "future long term investment" on Paris' part in order to secure the site of the future Panama Canal, though with the trouble of frequent border clashes with Imperial Mexican and Gran Colombian forces. The Foreign Legion is only active in Guatemala as France has zero interest in getting entangled in Spain's affairs more than they've already had, especially with Italy still a threat.
  • The War of 1812 still ends in a status quo ante bellum though there is still some bad blood between the United States and the British Empire, which is mostly why the British were the first to recognize Mexico as an independent nation in the hopes it becomes a rival to the US someday. The divide between them will only deepen with the Oregon Country dispute beginning in the 1830s and the growing rivalry between Mexico and America, whether or not it leads to open war in North America in the far future remains to be seen. With the purchase of Spanish Florida, the United States is currently engaged in a second low level war against the rebelling native Seminole people for the Americans kicking them out of northern Florida in the First Seminole War (1816-1819) and being confined to a large reservation in the center of the territory. The Springfield Model 1820 rifle is making its combat debut in the current Seminole War, a reverse engineered Chassepot rifle which was chosen to be the base for the Model 1820 after they were smuggled into America through the growing European black market (which in turn, ended up for sale in the first place thanks to a very corrupt Rhinebund Army officer who blamed the disappearance of the rifles on Prussian saboteurs), though it will be a long time before bolt action and lever action rifles completely replace muskets. UT information gained from the American ambassador to France has the current Monroe administration claiming the United States' future CONUS borders, combined with both Mexico being backed by the British and Continentalism gaining steam across the country means that a future war of expansion against Mexico and perhaps Britain even more likely. The US is also getting a much earlier start on electrical telegraph research, with Congress set to decide on whether or not to give the research project funding.
  • With Northwestern and Eastern Africa already dominated by the French and the Italians respectively along with the minor embarrassment of losing Malta, the British Empire is focusing elsewhere to expand their empire. Namely Canada, the Caribbean, southern Africa by way of the Cape Colony, India, and Australia. London is cordial to the French and hostile to Italy, though not to the degree as the Austrian and Ottoman Empires. To assist in their expansion into Africa, the British have unsurprisingly kept their alliance with Portugal. Both Portugal and Britain have a long term goal in spreading into China, inspired by UT information regarding China's long fall from grace. China's fall is something the EIC is already in the middle of along with some other players.
  • With Russia determined to hold onto Alaska this time around due to large scale expansion into Europe not being possible for the foreseeable future, there is a current effort to diversify the economy away from just the fur trade (although the Russians still hold the monopoly in that market) with the export of fish and investing in the colony's natural gold deposits being given focus, the serfs that were emancipated by Tsar Alexander's reforms being encouraged to emigrate to Alaska to bolster the population. It is not just in Alaska where the Russians are spreading their borders as the Tsar has ordered for expansion into Central Asia along with the Okhrana meddling in Qing China's growing opium trade with the help of criminals pressed into the organization in exchange for reduced jail time if not a full pardon, both to destabilize China in order for Russia to eventually seize the Far East and to fund the Okhrana's frequent black market shopping trips. The Okhrana however are not alone in getting in on the opium trade as not only are they competing with Chinese opium producers but are also competing with the British East India Company and producers from French Indochina (which includes some colonial officials acting independently from Paris). A secret struggle in a foreign drug market most certainly won't lead to trouble down the line.
