Okay, I think I finally found all the cities whose names I forgot to fill in.

For context: there was this risk-style strategy game called “March of War” that was shut down a few years back. I never played it but I found out about it a little while ago and I thought the lore and diesel-punk style was pretty cool. Here’s one of the playable nations: The United Republic, circa 1939, with the Soviet Union across the Bering Strait and the “Latin Junta” to the south

"Mr President, as we reorganize our country and consolidate the states, what single state in the Lower 48 should we leave by itself?"

"Montana."

The president was from montana most likely

Or maybe his Mom lives there and she doesn't like change.

@B_Munro I saw @OcDeElot's Latvia wank, and I believe you could do a better job. Would you mind?

Say something like "could do an even wankier one." As XFE said, please don't denigrate the work of others when comparing it to mine. (Unless it's really shitty.) Not sure about Latvia: it's currently under 2 million, but it was over 2.6 million prior to the horrific post-Soviet drop, so maybe. Do you have a link to his map?

(In any event, still working through the esses, so it will be a while in any case).

Wallace Stays On

Henry Wallace stays on as Vice President for the 1944 election, and would succeed FDR after his death in 1945. President Wallace oversaw the end of World War II in Europe, with the surrender of Nazi Germany, and would also oversee Operation Downfall, the land invasion of the Japanese Home Islands. America and the Allies emerged victorious from Downfall, but millions of American soldiers would have gone down whilst fighting in Japan.

After the war, Wallace took a lowkey approach in the European occupation, maintaining a positive attitude towards the Soviets, and allowing for millions in US aid to be given to the rebuilding countries of Europe. Critics of Wallace today like to point out his lowkey approach, stating that 'he had gifted the Soviets many new puppet states to enforce communism upon.' Prime examples include Italy; which devolved into a civil war, eventually splitting North-South, with a communist north and a capitalist south. States such as Piedmont and Venice would also emerge from the civil war; and Turkey, which would also enter a civil war, and would become a Soviet puppet after losing lands to Greece and being somewhat partitioned by the communists into other countries.

Henry Wallace would lose his re-election bid to Governor Thomas E. Dewey in 1948, who now has to deal with communist intervention in Berlin, and the looming communist presence within North Korea and socialist Hokkaido.

(idk i might continue this into a real timeline soon)
Most blessed world ever

What about map of Great Latvia in year 2118? I made it a year ago for a 100th anniversary but never published it there.

That's not very polite.
I mean, @B_Munro did one for Poland, so maybe he should do one for Latvia (They share the same independence day). Also sorry @OcDeElot.

Well, i will no be mind with that. I know my map is not an example of perfection and it is interesting to know how others imagine map of "Great Latvia", especially from the view of those who do not live in Eastern Europe.

For anyone wanting a (flawed) translation:
Impressive... But what about my new map of Latvian Japanese archipelago, that I made for this year Proclamation Day of Latvia? Same universe with my previous map, although in more distant future.

20 million people? Japan ITTL must've been hit hard by the colonialism stick.

This is my WIP map on a TL in which Archduke Charles of Teschen became the Emperor of Mexico. Butterflies ensured, 1848 still happened, amidst the chaos, the Austrian Habsburgs were rumored to intend to flee to Mexico, which discredited them and led to them being toppled. Germany unified under Frederick William IV of Prussia while Spain later came under control of the Hohenzollern-Sigmaringens. A war erupted between newly formed Germany and Russia which culminated in Russian defeat. Humiliated, the Russians later drived southward, defeating the Ottomans, Persians and became Central Asia-focused. Egypt quickly filled in the void left by the Turks and be counterbalanced by the Omani Empire. With the decline of Britain & France and a bit more luck in TTL, the Taiping Rebellion succeeded, driving the Manchus northward. During the retreat, Prince Gong managed to launch a coup and installed himself on the throne. His Northern Qing Empire quickly learned their lesson and industrialized. Meanwhile, Taiping China was increasingly becoming a hellhole.

At the beginning of the 20th century, these were the 5 most powerful empires: Habsburg Mexico, Hohenzollern Hegemony, Egyptian Caliphate, Omani Empire & Northern Qing. I plan to call this TL "Empires of the Four Corners", Egypt seems to represent the Middle Empire though lol.

Oh yeah, I guess folks are posting their telephone game maps over here, so here's mine:

I was given Zalezsky's map depicting an ancient civilization in the fertile valley, but this was in the caucuses instead of Iraq. So this left it quite open-ended for me, and I started imagining different starting points for other major civilizations. Perhaps the focus shifted away from the Mediterranean and towards the other seas in the middle east. The Black Sea, The Caspian Sea, and the Persian Gulf could all become analogues to the Med, and the opening into the Arabian Sea and bigger Indian ocean could serve as the Atlantic.

I then started focusing on civilizations to populate this new center of civilization. The Vintar in the map I received would certainly be a big player as well as some smaller names in the globe in the received map. I decided to go with three main civilizations in the Caucuses, Central Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. I then filled in the rest of the space with pseudo civilized tribes and kingdoms originating from the names on the given globe. The Arabian peninsula became a sort of Greece with multiple city-states and The mountain kingdoms in Iran and Afghanistan become a sort of Great Game between the three main powers.

Finally, to add a bit more detail and some flavor to the map, I threw in several structures, including temples (based on the given map) citadels, major cities, and for fun, some floating cities on the water. This was a really fun game and the butterflies in my list seemed to be especially large. I definitely leaned into some ASB elements but I'm quite happy with the end product!

A short explanation of the timeline would help.
The Republic of Fredonia was formed after the success of the Fredonian Revolution during the reign of Arron Burr. Burrwould become a hated tyrant as failures against British, Spanish and French invasions. The founder of Canadaway's son led convinced many throughout the land as the French and British neared. Many generals would go on to switch sides to the rebellion as it spread throughout New York.
