A third installment of my Historiae Mutetur maps (definitely getting better nice), this time showing the Buddhist Union at its height. I will fiddle around with elevation sooner or later

picking up my DoD TL again after a couple months. this is the first map ive made with QGIS (not entirely though, i used paint.net too)

Having another go at the North America ISOT I made a while back.

I hope this criticism doesn't seem particularly fierce, but this seems like a teachable moment.

This seems like another ISOT scenario from the "let's just color in the map" philosophy. What does this "colonization" really represent, on the ground?

Are we talking homesteaders? Are there really that many people willing to pick up their lives and move to the frontier? Or are the colonies run by the agribusiness, mining, and fossil fuel industries? Are we looking at an capitalist paradise fueled by constant, never-ending resource extraction? Nobody bothered to develop renewable resources or a sustainable economy so that we wouldn't have to keep up a cycle of settler colonialism and exploitation of the environment?

Are there really that many British, French, or Dutch expats who want to scratch a living from old-growth forests? Bankers and businessmen and middle-class tourists and diplomats? How much immigration have they had from Canadians and Americans seeking opportunity, and has this changed the character of those nations at all? What about from the colonies? Were there social conflicts, ethnic Dutch vs. Dutch Caribbeans vs. immigrants?

Those are some remarkably neat borders, I would dare call them unimaginative. Did nobody else decide to pick up sticks and found their own new nation? No utopian projects, secessionists, or really bizarre filibuster states? What's that big state blobbing out across the Middle East, and why do they get all the oil fields and Jerusalem and Mecca? Who settled there - Muslims, Christians, Jews, did they have any conflicts? Is it a secular state, and if so how are the fundamentalist Christians or the Zionists taking it?

How were these borders decided on? Treaty? Were there wars fought? Or is there a big era of good feelings?

What's there to be had in New Zealand or Papua New Guinea that people would want to colonize it, anyways?

If you remember my last post here, you'll know I mentioned making a wikibox for the map I had made.

Today, instead of doing that, I produced this. It's a map I would call "obviously very serious", except the zombie Churchill apparently didn't tip some people off to its nature when I posted it elsewhere, so I may not have cleared the bar for "obvious satire" as well as I thought I did.

Getting a version that's both willing to be directly linked here and high-resolution enough to let you read the little description boxes is being a pain, so here's a link to the full-sized one.
this is the highest quality sh*tpost i've seen. should still go in that thread tho

So I made a map about what I plan to develop into some sort of "timeline", the basic premise is that Germany manages to win WW1 (No Entente Cordiale being the main PoD). The year is 1930:

Hello, this is my map of what Europe will look like in n+5 years, where n is the year you're viewing this in. If you look at the map and see politics based on it, you are correct. Unless those politics are racism. I am not racism, thank you.

Now the description of the map.

Mucho Communisto: Imagine the Soviet Union, but more. After the revolution of [n+3], which came about as a result of the spiralling out of control of the [current divisive political issue], Mucho Communisto was formed as a union of the revolutionary states that rose from the mayhem. They have policies, but because I don't understand political ideologies other than my own personal hodgepodge of unrelated beliefs, I will not go into more detail, unless someone in the comments presents something that sounds plausible and all I have to do is nod and say 'yes, I meant this the whole time, indeed'. They own part of North Africa because "Mucho North Africa" is funny, and also because I don't like putting more than two countries in Africa if I can help it.

Nationalist France: To differentiate them from the other France on this map. "Nationalist" is used primarily because when I look at maps of civil wars between "Reds" and "Whites", the White faction is generally called nationalist. And the French are fighting Mucho Communisto, so it fits pretty well, right? Yeah. Anyways, Nationalist France is sandwiched between the openly-hostile Mucho Communisto, the breakaway regime of Britannia (I am sure that the people of Britanny are just yearing to rip off the Parisian yoke, any day now), the incredibly confusing but probably also hostile regime of Switzerland, the European Union Reich and the Kingdom of Monaco. The last two have gobbled up areas of France, including its most populous and wealthy regions. As a result, Nationalist France also has policies. They do a lot of stuff like: conscription, building tanks, militarized schools. Wow!

Britannia: Headed by a ruthless dictator who spurs the region's development and seeks to strengthen his own rule during the Mucho-French war, Britannia is mostly characterized by what I think a smart dictator would do. So they have policies, which are very effective, meant to increase industry and strengthen their armed forces. They also do a lot of political repression, which I will mention offhand but mention so infrequently you'd be forgiven for thinking Britannia's people want to spend 12 hours a day slaving away for miniscule wages in order to support a disproportionately large navy and a fortification system that would earn the title of "Maginot 2" if I knew who Maginot was.

European Union Reich: Ruled by cyborg Merkel (long may she reign; I sure hope I don't date this map by satirizing the lengthy political career of a politician who has announced she's leaving politics) from Cyber-Berlin 2, the EUR is a bold step forwards, in the sense that it combines every "Fourth Reich" trope with a vaguely 'the EU is tyrannical'-hued message. The EUR is way stronger than the normal EU, despite the fact that it's lost most of its members and has apparently decided to attack France instead of defending it from Mucho Communisto. Anyways, the EUR also invaded Dover in order to stop Brexit by force. I am not worried that Brexit jokes will become old, because by the time of [n+25], it will still be happening!

Switzerland: Did you know that Switzerland technically has no federal capital? Neat! I bet they'd keep that if they turned into vaguely authoritarian communists. Also, they're not allied to the SRI or Mucho Communisto because of leftist infighting, or something. Maybe they're just third-way-ists?

Kingdom of Monaco: Bravely manning the front lines of capitalism using stolen French land and lots of tax haven money. It's a kingdom because whatever title they have in real life is lame, and with no one to stop them I'm sure they'd upgrade to King anyways. They're virulently anti-communist, but not embroiled in a suicidal two-front war because they're smart, or something. Ignore the pressure of being pinned between two hostile regimes and the inevitable friction of internal politics which is part of what caused a lot of historical "dumb moves", they're smarter than that.

Socialist Republic of Italy: It turns out a lot of people in northwestern Italy like Kaiserreich (the popular HoI4/DH mod, in case you're not familiar). They're syndicalist! That means communism, but less angry, I think. They don't like Stalin, and they have cool stuff on their flags. Also, none of them have accused me of harboring beliefs I'd rather not confront, so they're automatically better than adherents of actual political ideologies.

Italy: Mussolini 2 (no, that's not "Mussolini the Second", it's "Mussolini Two") is preparing to take control of the country to fight the Slovenian Empire and return the SRI to the fold. His critics say things like "but you can't just say last time wasn't real fascism, that's not a counterargument", but he has successfully distracted them by annexing Corsica.

Slovenian Empire: It's always the ones you don't expect. Slovenia is embroiled in a massive air war with Greater Slovakia, as they decide to settle who the real SLO will be from here on out. They mostly fight in the airspace of NEUTRAL Hungary Neutral in Slovene-Slovak War. Please do not attack, whose economy is at this point built on selling wrecked airplanes to either side. They also grabbed chunks of Italy and North Africa because I don't understand the reasons why some countries were able to temporarily seize large areas of land in the past, and so I just handwave it as being "like when Germany got so much land in WWII".

Macedonia: Years of nationalism are finally paying off for Macedonia. When asked the question "is Macedonia Serbian, Greek, or Bulgarian?" they made the big-brain move of reversing the question. Instead, Serbian, Greek and Bulgarian are Macedonian!

Megalia: Megali himself wept a tear when he saw this country declare itself. Why it happened, I don't know. I like the aesthetic of Megali Idea maps, but don't like the associations of ethnic cleansing, suppression of minorities, or tensions that would come with the likely efforts to Hellenize the areas that would follow if this ever happened. So I'm going to handwave it, and say the locals just wanted it really hard. There's also no Greece, so I guess they're just their own thing now. Turkey didn't stop them because they're too busy doing magic.

Syria, Syrian Rebels: Assad got the incredibly skilled idea of just attacking most neighboring countries after letting the rebels conquer areas of Syria between him and those countries. So to get to him, those countries would need to beat the rebels for him! Unfortunately, the rebels instead just won, and annexed all of the land.

Iran: Finally living up to their name, Iran saw all the shit going on in Europe and decided to leave. They're traveling west, buying condos on Sri Lanka to move into. Behind them is Uncolonized Land, because that's how this works.

Kurdistan: The top minds of Europe decided to finally solve the Kurdistan issue. Drawing on the spirits of the finest 19th and 20th century European statesmen, they used a ouija board to determine where to put the country. For some reason, the Kurds are still upset.

Kyrgyzstan: I'm going to level with you here, until I looked it up again I'd been calling it "Kyrgygstan". Oops! Anyways, they eat Russia because BigRussia is boring, but Russia is so big that it's a lot of work to break it up. There also aren't many good ways to do so, at least if you want to seem realistic. So it's really best to just replace the whole thing with something new, to draw the viewers' attention away from how low-effort a move it is. As for how they conquered Russia? I dunno, man, how did the Mongols do it?

SCAM-dinavia: A Swedish guy lied to me once, and ever since then no one I've talked to in Sweden has recognized the vague description I gave them. From this, I've decided that Scandinavia is fake, or something. You know the joke about Finland being a conspiracy? Imagine that, but more half-assed.

Greater Slovakia: I like the twist on there being a Czechoslovakia-esque country, but instead it's just Slovak imperialism. Honestly, they should've had their hour in the spotlight of repressing other peoples. Anyways, their capital is Ultra Bratislava, which is build on a giant platform atop Gerlachovský štít, the tallest point of Slovakia. They did this because it sounded like a cool idea to me, personally.

Evil Hungary: Not actually evil. Briefly under the control of a fascist regime, they swiftly realized that they had accidentally scapegoated the wrong set of minorities, so they had no one to commit politicized violence against or deport. As a result, they lost popularity until a miltiary coup happened to them. However, the junta ran into the issue that they don't have enough land to form Transylvania, and can't form Eastern Hungary until Western Hungary exists. So they're stuck!

Poland: Poland saw all the shit that was happening in Europe, remembered what happened last time things went to hell, and said "nope, not this time". Rallying behind the only party whose patriotism was utterly unquestionable, the Polska Partia Przyjaciół Piwa, they proceeded to annex the ever-loving hell out of their neighbors in what I'm not going to call a Blitzkrieg not because I know the term is one invented by journalists and not a proper technical term, but because that would kinda be poor taste, y'know? Anyways, they won all their wars because they're fast.

Northern Ireland: The Irish issue is a bit confusing, and in the context of a British Civil War I'm not sure how things would go - it'd be messy, though, and probably involve a worseing of the situation and some violence, though. So instead I went with a compromise that everyone involved would hate to their very bones! The capital is Limerick because in English class I heard that's a type of poem, and that was funny, so yeah.

Britain is self-explanatory, really. It's just what's currently happening, but without the need to appease John Bercow. He does a vanishing act, like the Avatar in A:TLA, and that thows the whole country into chaos. The Queen straps on a jetpack and two flame-throwers to search for him on the Moon, and I don't think the Brits are held together by anything more than those two people, so I don't need to explain the civil war any further than that.
Such a scenario will only exist when Donald Trump stops using Twitter.

Honestly, with those Virgin Earth ISOT scenarios, I feel they are waaay too optimistic. The country just gathers itself up and begins colonizing over a long period. Not to attack the creator of his scenario at all, but I think ISOTs would be really grim.

I mean first of all if the US from 2019 for example ended up on a virgin earth, they'd face massive shortages in numerous goods. There would also be food shortages as government scrambles to make up shortfalls on imported food (huge chunk of the America Merchant fleet would vanish) and meanwhile you'd see things like rolling blackouts, telecommunications in ruins as satellites and cables vanish or are severed at borders. The Panama Canal would not exist so moving goods East-West would be disrupted. People would be scared, facing shortages, information blackouts and violence is probably inevitable.

And then there is a the terrifying question as to how and why the ISOT happened. You'd see a lot of religious speculation and attempts to rationalize what happened. Were we chosen by some deity? Was it aliens? Was it a wormhole? Spacetime anomaly? Cthulhu? Have we been rejected and left behind? Have we been chosen to ascend? Is this a punishment, is this absolution? Who do we blame? Who do we thank? Interpretations would vary wildly and that would be guaranteed to cause unrest. Then there is the traumatic reality for millions of people who have lost loved ones that were abroad and for millions visiting the US who have no home to go back to.

The entire concept would be nothing short of traumatic or maybe even overwhelming for the country involved.

The same basic Otherworld Warhammer map from earlier, with a few extra bits from other Warhammer maps I found (there are a few out there other than the official version), and hopefully the names are better placed, clearer.

Anyone think that lake between Araby and the Mountains of the Moon could be super salty? Like a giant Dead Sea / Salt Lake, depending on the time of the year?

Okay, that's very, very fascinating.

Are USA and Mexico the only major powers intervening? I'd except at least Britain to have a go at intervention as well.

Is there any major unification movement between the United Communes of Lafayette, New Afrika, Black Belt and the Altantic Free Republic? Where did all the whites flee to?

1. Thank you!

2. The US and Mexico are the only powers that directly intervened, due to their shared borders and territorial claims on the CSA. However, numerous powers have sent support to the various factions. Britain and France tacitly supported the CSA before the war due to their cotton, but when the industry collapsed and the uprisings began, they no longer had a reason to support the dying regime and began funneling arms and troops into the USA, Florida, and the Second Republic of Texas seeing them as the reasonable parties against the dying Confederates and the revolutionary slave states. Volunteers have also flooded into the various slave states, particularly Marxists and revolutionaries who see New Afrika and Lafayette as the perfect opportunity to establish a socialist state between the proletariat of all races, and Native Americans who saw the opportunity to finally gain an independent home in the State of Sequoia.

3. While the slave revolts had a conference in Baton Rouge and formed an alliance against the Confederates and southron revolts, it was largely one of convenience to survive the onslaught on all sides. While many do indeed wish for a unified Abolitionist Republic, they disagree on how this should happen. Those in Lafayette and New Afrika wish for a utopian commune between blacks and whites as a bastion of the world revolution in North America, the AFR, FTR, and BBR wish for a more traditional republic with former slaves and sympathetic whites in power as repayment for their mistreatment, similar to Haiti or Liberia. The former two are part of a close alliance, and as of 1900 have hosted several internationale conferences on the subject of unification, while the latter three had their dreams of a pan-southern republic destroyed in the SRT offensive against the FTR.

4. While many wealthy whites and slave owners fled when the uprisings began, a large number of poor whites had grown disillusioned with the fading Confederate ideology and sided with the revolters, occasionally overthrowing the local governments of major cities and welcoming the revolutionaries as brothers. However, others stayed loyal to the dream of white supremacy, and took up arms in the countryside of the Deep South against the revolts. However, for the most part whites that didn't own any plantations, while not totally unattacked, are able to go about their lives relatively normal, as the socialist republics see them as brothers in arms, and the traditional republics see them as too unimportant to fight against. Those wealthy whites that did find themselves in flight mainly went to the Second Republic of Texas and Florida, whose state governments saw the writing on the wall and broke from the CSA, forming their own nationalist Apartheid states.

Agreed on the economic and logistical shockwaves. As for the social reaction, well, people can internalize a lot of weird shit, I feel like after a few years most people would stop thinking about it too much and only academics would be left to lose sleep over it. People would mourn but they would move on, we're flexible like that.

The real danger is in the short-term as panic and confusion create fertile soil for rash action, like riots or uprisings or radical religious movements, especially in a mass depression you could have some serious political instability. Then of course if any of these groups survive the unrest, they might be desperate enough to move away from the reach of government. I can see some new religious group forming in the aftermath of the ISOT and then trying to found a homeland, going through their own trials and tribulations etc.

If you are looking at it on a scientific point of view, an ISOT could possibly be disastrous, branching off into a number of alternate realities, possibly even wiping out certain individuals from existence. It would take thousands of years to reform the same reality as OTL.

Here's the United States in 2075, 50 years after the Great Collapse (basically a zombie apocalypse that only takes over North America). most of the states/territories/republics are democracies, but Alaska is basically ran by the coast guard, and California is a stratocracy under the remnants of the US Army from as far east as Colorado. The capital is in Guam, but is expected to be moved to Astoria when the capital is done. All of the former USA (most of Louisiana has since been flooded), Canada, and northern Mexico (minus some danish research bases in former Nunavut) is de facto uninhabited, but there are some rumors of a settlement in former Salt Lake City. Also, credit for EBR for (most of) the Hawaiian states.

For what it's worth, in whatever this world has going for it, Astoria is a lovely city.

A rough map of the invasion of the Socialist Commonwealth of the Americas (SCA) by the Russian Empire, 1935. From one of my more ridiculous half-worked out TL ideas (sort of a TL-191, 'OTL analogue' kind of thing), that exists largely because I think it's funny.

Short and sweet of it is, Jack London's socialist America has been invaded by the reactionary revived Russian autocracy of Maria Romanova, who survived her family's massacre with a burning hatred for bolshevism. Lots more nonsense below if you're game.

It has a few PODs, one being a much more brutal gilded age of capitalism in the US and its early entrance into WWI, precipitating a socialist revolution in 1915 (a la 'Reds!', more or less). While the US dissolves into civil war, the still-intact Russian Empire moves in and reoccupies Alaska (along with a number of other powers that come in to take their pound of flesh).

In 1917, the Russian Empire has its February and then Bolshevik revolution in spite of the butterflies, ITTL funded and partly organized at Comintern headquarters in Haywood City (formerly known as Chicago).

However, the reds lose this round. One of the early signs things aren't going well for Lenin & co. is that Yurovsky and friends botch the execution of the Romanovs, leaving Anastasia and Maria alive. The Czechoslovak Legion storms Ekaterinburg a few hours later and finds the Grand Duchesses clinging to life in a puddle of their and their family's blood. They both recover physically, the drunken chekists having proven pretty bad marksmen, but their minds are another story.

Fast forward to the end of 1919--the Reds have been successfully swept out of power. Wrangel has taken Moscow and Yudenich Petersburg. The Bolshevik leadership scatters. Lenin himself is killed in the shelling of Moscow. Trotsky and Zinoviev are probably the most prominent who manage to flee to Red America.

Russia is slowly reconstructed by a shaky white coalition. After three years of tumultuous interim government, it is decided to restore the Romanov as a mild constitutional monarchy. In practice, the country becomes a conservative military dictatorship under Kolchak, with saintly Maria Romanova (blind in one eye thanks to Bolshevik bullets) as a figurehead.

Back in the SCA, the socialists go on constructing their new world. Since the US had been one of 'the developed countries', in the more industrialized areas, experiments are made in transitioning directly to lower communism, abolishing money and the market. This has mixed results.

In 1925, Big Bill Haywood, guiding light of the revolution, dies. What ensues is a many way power struggle that ends with the ascension of Chairman of the Communist International Jack London to overall leadership of the SCA. London proves something of a hard driver, if effective. He oversees massive efforts at the large scale irrigation and development of the deserts in the west, in an attempt to make the SCA self-sufficient, as it is still unrecognized by many of the great powers. The project sees the deaths of many workers (many of whom are forced laborers) and provides much grist for the anti-communist propaganda mill abroad.

In 1927, Vozhd Kolchak dies mysteriously in a plane crash. Empress Maria Romanova drags her feet appointing a new Chief of Government, though the Duma moans and prods. Now 28 years old, Maria has for the most part stopped waking up screaming and the seizures have subsided. But that horrible night in the cellar at Ipatiev House have changed her irrevocably. She is a paranoid woman, seeing socialist assassins in every shadow. She has developed a rabid hatred for communists, liberals, Jews, and Americans (didn't the reds in Chicago spread the Marxist plague to Russia?). In the past few years, she has pushed heavily for rearmament, fearing a phantom Liberal-Masonic-Jewish-Communist international will soon send the armies of America, Germany, and perhaps Britain and France, marching against Holy Russia. She is beginning to chafe at the ceremonial nature of the restored monarchy, and grabs more and more at real executive power. Kolchak held her largely in check, but now he is dead.

To the horror but not surprise of many, Maria appoints Boris Brasol, former Black Hundredist, arch-reactionary, and vicious anti-semite, as Kolchak's successor. The man has few talents in the sphere of statecraft, but he confirms every one of Maria's fears and doubts for her, and heaps on some of his own. The rearmament goes ahead, the peacetime Russian Army swelling to 10,000,000 by 1932. State funds are poured into tanks, warplanes, and technical advisors from Europe, to the detriment of the consumer economy and national standards of living. Maria keeps always a hostile eye turned south of Alaska, at the den of red beasts that is America. She militarizes Alaska to the point that the entire territory becomes one great armed camp. Internally, she launches a renewed persecution against the Jewish population of the Russian Empire. Jews are barred from government positions, the military, and finally from owning wealth above a certain threshold. A 1927 pogrom near Kherson is allowed to go on for days before the gendarmes intervene.

Europe is still a basket case. Germany still lost the Great War and became an unstable republic, and is riven by spats between left, right, and everything in between. It is bordered at the south by Socialist Italy, which underwent her own successful revolution in the last months of the war, but represents a milder breed as against that in America.

In July 1928, a disputed election plunges Germany into civil war between the left-wing Spartakists and the rightist 'Steel Helmets'. The SCA supports the Spartakists with weaponry, funds, and advisors. Russia leaps into the fray and does the same for the right, despite the pleas by Maria's advisors to do otherwise. Even Brasol urges against it, but is overruled. It soon becomes clear there is no more power behind the throne, and that Empress Maria is intent on a revival of the Romanov Autocracy. The civil war ends in a leftist victory in March 1930, and the establishment of the German Social Republic, which affiliates itself with the Communist International. Empress Maria's paranoia intensifies, as she now has what she sees as a puppet of international jewish communism right at her doorstep, kept at bay only by the thin strip of Poland.

Upon the conclusion of the German Civil War, Maria severs what few unofficial diplomatic relations existed between Russia and the SCA. She begins blaming red American agents for most everything that goes wrong in her country. President London, for his part, is not unwilling to lay blame for the occasional factory accident or drought at the feet of 'reactionary Russian provocateurs'. Russia and the SCA become one another's bogeymen.

Terrified of socialist Germany in central Europe and America across the Bering Strait, Maria signs the Franco-Russian mutual defense pact, France similarly unnerved by a red Germany across the Rhine. This becomes known as the 'Reims Pact'. Britain meanwhile, antagonized by Russia in central Asia and on the Indian borderlands, and driven away from France by popular opinion blaming her for British involvement in the eight year Great War and the hundreds of thousands of dead British boys that resulted, signs an anti-French-Russian treaty with socialist Germany, over the protests of not a few conservatives.

In February 1931, Poland's Marshal Pilsudski dies. In ensuing months, a bloodless coup topples his built-up dictatorship and installs a democracy in its place. Though it is a mild liberal state, with Poland's socialist party holding only a few seats in the Sejm, and the communist party, none, Maria views this as proof that the Jewish communists are inching ever nearer to the Motherland. In the winter of 1931, the Russian army invades and annexes the Baltic States, to the outcry (and non-action), of the international community. Only France (under its new Action Francaise dominated government), of the western European states, defends her new ally Russia. Russian troops mass on the border with Poland. In early 1932, Poland signs a treaty with Germany, the latter promising to come to Warsaw's aid in the event of a Russian attack.

In January 1933, the Russian Foreign Ministry presents a long list of grievances to the Polish government, blaming 'Polish-American-German-British-Italian-Jewish saboteurs' for a number of outrages within Russian borders, up to and including the death of Kolchak six years earlier. It demands that Poland turn over whatever agents have been involved in such activity, and also the documents proving Polish complicity with the Communist International. Since these do not exist, Poland prepares for war.

When no answer is received, the Russian Army assaults Poland from the east on May 1, 1933, beginning the second Great War. The German People's Army surges forth to aid her Polish ally, and combined with Poland's own stout if outgunned soldiers, clashes with the Russians just east of Warsaw. Italy also joins in the fray, in support of Germany. France, honoring her pact with Russia, attacks from the west, but is halted at the Rhine. Europe descends into bloody chaos once again.

Vozhd Brasol stands in the Duma, and declares that the war against 'International Jewry' has begun. Halfway through his speech, Empress Maria, unsatisfied with the venom on his tongue, shunts him aside and finishes the speech herself.

Britain, despite her treaty with Germany, is kept out of the war by the Conservatives, who dominate Parliament. However, a December 1933 snap election brings a Labor majority to power, sympathetic to the 'anti-reactionary' struggle of Germany, Poland, and Italy. When a French ship fires on the HMS Hood, Britain declares war on Russia.

The SCA, despite the Comintern membership of Germany and Italy, and wrecked relations with Russia, does not formally intervene, but sells weaponry and supplies to the Alliance. Empress Maria is furious at the devious red dogs in Haywood City who abet her enemies and yet refuse to enter into the fray themselves.

The war in Europe rages on, with the Russian army conquering Poland and pushing on into East Prussia. In the west, the Germans have managed to throw back the French and drive towards Paris, but the Russian behemoth lumbering into Brandenburg necessitates a shifting of troops from the western to the eastern front, allowing the French to lift the siege of the capital and push the German People's Army back towards the Ardennes. Germany resists fiercely, but only the copious aid from the SCA funneled in via the Royal Navy keeps her afloat.

With Poland subdued, Germany squeezed from both sides, and Britain impotent on land, Empress Maria decides it is finally time for a reckoning with the SCA, her great bête noire. On September 9th, 1934, the Russian Army pours down from Alaska, ripping through weakly-defended British Columbia and marching down towards old California. President London's government had expected a Russian onslaught, but not this soon.

The Pacific Northwest falls almost without a fight, and it is not until the Russian Army is knocking at the Golden Gate that the Sixth Red Army under Marshal Butler is able to halt the enemy outside San Francisco. However, even this only lasts long enough for the Jewish population and communist party functionaries to be evacuated from the city. The Russian Army pushes on, rounding the southern tip of the Rockies and then fanning out to drive on the republic's capital at Haywood City.

By January 1935, the Russian invaders are advancing on the Mississippi River. President London issues his famous "every step forward" order. Prince Tukhachevsky's Third Army Group is tasked with taking New Orleans, while Volkhov in the north pushes on for St. Louis. The goal is to control the Mississippi, thus squeezing the SCA to death.

New Orleans is heavily fortified, and the cream of the Red Army from various sectors of the front are transferred here. Citizen militias are raised all along the Gulf Coast for a desperate defense of the Crescent City.

On January 14th, the residents of New Orleans awaken to hear Russian artillery booming to the west.

The hinge of fate prepares to swing.

Made this map for a competition on the r/imaginarymaps subreddit and i thought i would share it here. :happyblush

The basic premise is that Venice is big now.
"New" Egypt?
Wouldn't Seoul be the capital? I think the North Koreans claimed that early on.

A Russwank map:

This timeline's Russia has an extremely totalitarian government, and has spent decades repressing or destroying non-Russian cultures within its borders. This is also why there have been several attempted uprisings, which Russia ruthlessly destroyed.
I can already imagine the arguments among nationalist circles in Europe as why the Russians and Italians seemed to priotizie Dalmatia for Russia and Slavonia for Italy.
Just something quick I made
Eastland? Never been a more confusing name for a place involving a direction. Well, besides for Northern Antarctica. Centre seems to be pretty high up there though, depending on how the word was spelled back then.
Having another go at the North America ISOT I made a while back. Basically, the premise is that North America (as far south as the Panama Canal, plus most of the Caribbean, and as far east as Greenland but not Iceland) gets ISOTed into a virgin Earth. Here's the world about 30 years post-ISOT
Does the US actually expand here? Either way I am expecting to see a pretty massive State of Israel.
Germany wins WWI, and yet France gets Wallonia and is returned Alsace-Moselle...
does not compute.
They needed French diplomatic support, so they only needed to give Poland Posen rather than Silesia as well.
So I made a map about what I plan to develop into some sort of "timeline", the basic premise is that Germany manages to win WW1 (No Entente Cordiale being the main PoD). The year is 1930:
What is the official language of Livonia?

New Roman province of Egypt
I don't feel that is the way naming conventions work, at least not when it is generally in the exact same area as where the old one was. I can also see the Italians perhaps trying to change some names of cities from Arabic, though that might make it less useful for them, given how... Hmmm. Come to think of it, is Venetian, Greek, or some variety or Arabic or Coptic supposed to be the lingua franca for this? Also found out recently that the lingua Franca thing originally did not relate to the French at all. Arabs simply called all of the Europeans Franks, while they would speak some dialect of Italian between each other. Anyways, those dotted lines showing shipping routes? While Cyprus might not be nearly as valuable as Egypt and the Straits for foreign trade, plenty of wine and agricultural goods could be provided by the island for Keeping themselves fed.

Remember all the nations UK invaded map that have like only 20 of 190 nations having not been invaded. I wanted to make a map of that thing with a "what if UK annexed all of that". Half of the nations remaining mostly agree to the status-quo and the British Hegemony with the other half resisting it. The League of Free Nations really don't have any actual chance in challenging the hegemony but they try.
