The map from the newest chapter of The Greatest Game in the World. For the Backstory, you'll have to go there.

This is my first map on inkscape and I already know the borders are a bit shitty but meh.

Papal-Statesn-Idea.png

The idea for this was a more aggressive papacy in Italy that was focused on exporting it's 'pure' Catholicism that hadn't been diluted by self-serving monarchs and their sinful aides. This led the papacy to take over Siena and to encroach on Florentine land. The map is set in the early 19th century where Pope Clement XIII, disturbed by the many abuses committed by the colonial powers to their native subjects all over the world, decided to prove to the world that a humane colony could be set up, faithfully following Christ's teachings, the Papacy not being the most militarily powerful chose the nearest group of easily conquerable heathens which was in Libya where they set up a colony around Tripoli, renamed Clemens after the Pope and quickly converted many people there (aided no doubt by the waves of Italians also migrating to Libya, quickly outnumbering the natives).

Thats all.

Would Libya really be that easy to conquer? If nothing else, the Ottomans still controlled it, even if only nominally, but would still contest Papal conquest. I could even foresee this turning into another Great European War, so quickly after the last.

No, Libya was a Ottoman client and any invasion would of been resisted by Ottoman Empire.

Alright I think I'll post my Wisconsin Civil War map even though I am feeling pretty tired right now and I don't have much energy today with being at work all day. But here is the map, some of the colors I picked were pretty ugly but hopefully it will convey the situation for Wisconsin. I'll make it super brief. Still as always, it's ASB.

  • Regime has been forced to withdraw from Sondersburg after several weeks of fighting in the spring from late March until early July 2019
  • The military junta itself was dissolved on the 4th of June 2019 on the same day that the ruling nation's party, the "National Revolutionary Party" celebrated its 100th anniversary with a large scale military parade, the largest scene in Wisconsin since 1991 and featured tanks, armored personnel carriers including battlefield ballistic missiles which has rarely been used by the regime since the war started in 2015
  • Another strategic city, Fransville home to 100,000 people and home to the 51st Air Wing of the Wisconsin Air Forces is now been surrounded once again by the Minnesotan backed "Wisconsin National Army" (WNA)
  • The collapse of the National Salvation Front in early 2019 resulted many of the fighters to either surrender to the regime or defect and join the Minnesotan backed WNA. Despite the WNA making a resurgence it is very unlikely for them to grow as strong as the NSF did.
  • Despite major fighting going on, the war itself has seen a reduction of deaths with "only" around 15,000 deaths since late March 2019 but that still doesn't negate the the deadly nature of the war
  • Nevertheless an estimated 300,000+ people including over 100,000 civilians have died since the war began in 2015
  • Nevertheless the regime has neither lost its territorial gains nor has it managed to break the gains held by other factions such as the far-right "Wisconsin People's Front" and the so-called "Blood Resistance" a loose group of far-right militants who have neo-Nazi, ethnonationalist sentiments aimed at carving out a state that would be free of Wisconsin Indians who make up over 10 percent of Wisconsin's prewar population 16 million now estimated to be around 13.5 million still living in Wisconsin
  • Some uncertainty still lingers on for the inhabitants of Wisconsin as Wisconsin's own ally Ushen which has committed troops, and equipment to Wisconsin to aid the socialist regime has its own problems at home. Ushen is under a military junta that is led by right wing extremists who have been waging a bloody campaign of intimidation and threats of genocide back in Ushen against the country's 500,000 Christians that remain in Ushen. The once former constitutional monarchy and liberal democracy has fallen to military dictatorship as fears of a third civil war on the island nation of Ushen could occur as the result of the government's policies against the nation's Christians and Buddhists. If civil war breaks out in Ushen, this could result in a troop draw-down and could force Wisconsin to have to rely on other allies such as Iowa or take the risk of having other foreign nations involved which the war whom already have had strained relations with Wisconsin's main adversaries mainly the U.S., Minnesota and other countries who have sent aid to the rebels aimed at toppling the socialist republic
  • Ushen's queen has also abdicated the throne owing to her own disgust at Ushen's military government indicating genocidal rhetoric against Christians and Buddhists in a country that is primarily dominated by a native folk religion that worships the waters of Ushen. By this summer an estimated 1,000 Christians have been killed by pro-government mobs as the nation risks of being plunged into civil war. The Queen has been in Wisconsin since mid-June and is rumored to be engaged with the regime's president who has been promising political reform. (It's too complicated to explain everything)

This probably takes place in the same world as the Deseret from a few pages ago.
It had been not even a century since the emergence of the Breton people and the formation of The State of Breizh, and they have already carved out an impressive empire for themselves, and a rather bold motto, which is partially untrue. They have been beaten numerous times, most recently by people calling themselves the Irish and Scottish, and the culturally pure aspect is enforced through aggressive acts of genocide and slavery which see's entire villages wiped clean, and there does not seem to be any force on former Europe currently capable of halting it.

It's been thousands of years since organized civilization existed, when a young farmer named Joseph would stumble upon a strange metal cave, containing hundreds of papers, documents, and books. The young man would teach himself to read, and found great hope in what these books and papers taught him, and so he decided it would be for the best to spread their teachings across the world.
A century later, and his descendants and their follows have spread far and wide, slowly mapping out the land they live on.

how different is this Mormonism?

how different is this Mormonism?
Mostly similar to our Mormonism, with maybe some scattered changes pulled in from other documents, mainly us gov documents, and it possibly absorbed and adopted some rituals from local faiths over the years, but it's still similar enough to be recognizably Mormon.

A continuation of the previous map i made, a exiled America in Cuba fueled by banana republics which is also having a south china sea like dispute over the Cayman islands after what i assume is the collapse of the United Kingdom. I'm going to add onto my other map another exiled America under Douglas MacArthur which is struggling to survive against a Japanese invasion. I suppose a good PoD for this is America annexing Cuba, and a more stronger Paris commune, a harsher great depression and no winning sides in world war one. Also, panama is basically an American sideshow due to the canal, but, i may edit panama being neutral or Mexico aligned to add to this.

Fall of Liberty

A series of maps I have created for fun with inspiration from Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, Wolfenstein: The New Order, and some Nazi war plans and vehicles you see in World of Tanks and War Thunder in this nearly 40 year long Second World War, there is too much lore I have created for myself to post so I'm putting in major details. Ich nichts ein wehraboo schwinhunt!

January of 1954:

Fall of Liberty.png

The Germans have obviously control Europe by 1954. The Luftwaffe managed to disable enough of the RAF for Fallschimrjager suicide squads test British defenses by landing in Southern England. The Home Guard prove to be not that strong and in 1941 a massed invasion of Southern England and "jumping over" the RN and the Channel. German tanks meanwhile land at airfields onboard Messerschmitt Gigants. The Germans finally beat Britain after a massive slog to Scotland by 1943. Most of the RN and the British government, along with large amounts of the population escaping to Canada. While the Home surrenders, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand remain at war with Germany. The Soviet Invasion goes through in 1942 and fighting lasts till 1946 until a final Soviet surrender at Kazan. However major European resistance fighting would last till even the start of the war against the US. In 1941 Hitler, invading Britain opted not to go to war with the United States. Therefore the US focused its efforts on Japan waging the Pacific War to the same degree as OTL but a bit quicker. However by 1945 with no invasion of Manchuria by the Russians, Japan refuses to surrender and Operation: Downfall takes place by US forces. The Western Allies are involved in the Pacific even after Africa and Britain have fallen to Germany. By 1946 the US crushes major resistance on the Home Islands but Japanese forces on the Mainland still refuse to surrender. The US launches campaigns with its Chinese and CANZ allies to liberate occupied Asia and completes this by 1949. India however is a large federation united under the Azad Hind and is fairly pro-German and has little interest in the US, so far. Lebensraum goes through but Plan Z gets large amounts of funding along with laborers in Britain and France to help out. The German surface fleet grows 3-fold in a few years and still isn't even complete by the time of 1954. The US always saw the Germans as rivals and still developed tanks capable of dealing with German armor and the Germans still developed big cats. When the war begins the US will have Perishing's, early Patton's, and Walker Bulldogs, jet fighters and more. Germany cant produce Nuclear Weapons but they are close, its just that the German atomic engineer's are in America. So we hit 1954, Von Brauns V-bombs have been touching down in Canada, France and Britain have been reduced to Vichy Puppets with fractions of the Empires they once had. The US controls Asia and are separated by the German puppets of the former USSR to weak to fight, or neutral fascist India.

July of 1959

Fall of Liberty Breakthrough.png

The Invasion of the US wasn't overnight, it was the culmination of several years of planning by the Reich. Open war started with an all out invasion of US occupied Iceland, then Greenland fell, and by February of 1955 Germans were raiding Newfoundland and Labrador. The Kreigsmarine bloodied the Atlantic fleet in the Battle of Bermuda and the USN and RCN retreated to the Gulf of Mexico. The invasion of North America happened in Summer around Boston, Long Island, Virginia Beach, and Daytona Beach. The US is taken by surprise but the war industry on the west coast keeps the defense alive. The Germans are stalled on the Appalachians by into early 1957 allowing the US to bring refugee's and industry begin the Mississippi. The Germans manage however to break through in Alabama where the terrain flattens out and German armor manages to threaten the line which forces a US and Canadian retreat and large amounts of industry is sacked by the US army. Cities like Buffalo, Eire, Cleveland, and Detroit burn as the Germans advance. Four reichskommisarats are formed, Kanada, Neu England, Dixieland, and Ohio. The puppet armies of France and Britain are used in North America however the Italians don't have many troops in North America, seeing it as a German War. The US refuses to use nukes on American soil and jets are capable to shoot down B-36's. In 1959 a hurricane managed to wreck a German offensive in Louisiana, and exploiting this the US crossed into Eastern Louisiana and a slow collapse of the line occurred as US troops exploited the gap wrecked by mother nature. The Germans pull the same tactic the US pulled on them after learning what the Russians did. By January 1961 the only Germans left in North America were in Cuba, Newfoundland proper, and Greenland.

1990: 17 years after the end of the Second World War

Fall of Liberty Return.png

The Allies began 1962 off with liberating Cuba and Newfoundland. Most of the America's were pulled into the fight with pro-American governments being established in Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico. The US stationed troops in Brazil and began using the country for a staging ground of Operation: King. Landings in Liberia and other west African cities by the US saw major success and after only two months of fighting between US, Vichy French, and Imperial British forces. The USN was also able to bring over most of the fleet from the Pacific. The US also had navally invaded the ports of Vladivostok and Petropavlovsk in Siberia to token Siberian resistance. In the battle of the Denmark Strait the USN and KM met one last decisive time in Ship to Ship engagement. The USN wiped out the remaining German ships and a pathway clear to Britain was achieved. Token German forces in Greenland and Iceland were overwhelmed by thousands of angry Yankee's. By 1965 Operation: John Paul Jones went underway with strategic landings in Northern Ireland and Scotland. Imperial British forces fought back but their outdated equipment such as Lee-Enfield's, old Cromwell and Crusader tanks, were no match for US M29 heavy's and M48 mediums. Imperial Britain surrendered to the US and Canadian forces and Queen Elizabeth was returned to the crown as King Edward VIII abdicated the British throne, attempting to save his own skin. The Germans go into a panic as no Atlantic Wall was created. Defenses start being put up mainly around Calais. By 1970 after several years of rebuilding and de-fascifing Britain. The First Royal Army brigades are put into active service and used in Operation: Blackjack, the invasion of France. Safe to say the Germans fight hard but it is a delaying action to the Rhine as the Italians compromise with the Americans, allowing Italy to be unoccupied, let allied troops pass through, however they would have to give up all territories until their pre-1936 borders. Finally after fighting by 1972 the Allies reach the German heartland...only for the Reich to escape out east. The US and reinvigorated Western Allies tiringly push onto Warsaw and into the territories carved out for German lebensraum. By 1973 however, the burgeoning Russian population revolts and a total collapse of the Third Reich in the east falls apart. The world is remodeled in the US-Canadian Image. Germany was divided into four states, Hanover, Rhineland, Bavaria, and Brandenburg. Poland actually speaks half Polish and half English, as poles living in Britain, France, and America. The US would finally leave Japan in 1980 yet however would keep US military occupation territories in Siberia. The World is split two ways, the US-Commonwealth Alliance keeping Europe in check and the Asian block who the Chinese and Indians have carved out their own alliance, to counterweight the US. Nuclear Weapons are swiftly in the hands of only the US, Canada, and Australia, but China and India are not far behind and the only reason why China doesn't go to war with the US is because there is no way for its conventional army to cross the Pacific and occupy the United States without having its whole navy destroyed by the US.

Is there a backstory behind this map?

POD is Bahadur Shah's reforms actually managing to right the ship of state and Nadir Shah being defeated prior to his sack of Delhi, giving the Mughal empire valuable breathing space in the early eighteenth century. Such European involvement as occurs in the Subcontinent throughout the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries is largely restricted to the establishment of trade concessions up and down the coast, the presence of mercenary artillerists on both sides of the series of wars between the Mughals and Maratha Confederacy (ultimately ending in the almost total absorption of the Confederacy by the Mughals) and the establishment of French and British diplomatic protectorates over the nominally independent states in the southern tip of India. As of 1857, the Mughal Empire has retained much of its eighteenth century territorial and diplomatic independence, although both France and the United Kingdom have carved out zones of mercantile interest within its borders.

In other words, an India-as-China analogue prepared without very much research or regards to plausibility.

As a thought experiment, I tried to make a forest planet. This is what I ended up with:

upload_2019-8-20_15-42-34.png

There are less forested areas - the savannah and praire climates - and there would have been a few areas of hot steppes, but this planet has a slightly higher percentage of water in the atmosphere than Earth, so the driest tropical areas are essentially just particularly dry savannahs. There are mountain ranges and rainshadows, but compared to Earth the mountains are short or average, since this planet has a higher gravity.

Here's something I've been working on for a while now. For the most part, it's just a fun little exercise in crafting a world with different continents. Some parts are far more realistic than others. The ATL tectonic plate movement is not entirely implausible, I think, and I've done my best to present the effects on the landscape (different mountain ranges etc.) in a generally serious manner. On the other hand, the "Eurasian Sea" wouldn't be present on a planet where we have a much bigger arctic ice cap (and correspondingly lower sea levels). I deliberately added it to prevent a totally dry and cold Eurasia.

As for the inclusion of that sunken Atlantis... well, I'm vaguely thinking of using this world for a scenario where Arthurian mythology is real history, where Atlantis was once a real place, where Lyonesse (the ATL island west of *Ireland) is its last remaining outpost after the cataclysm, and where Avalon (the *Isle of Man, now in an inland lake) is an Atlantean-inspired monastary-school of the arcane arts...

That, of course, would only be a tiny part of this vast and different world, since the ATL landscape would offer many opportunities to create very interesting cultures.

In any event, that's just what I had in mind with this little project. Maybe I'll never do anything with it at all. And maybe you have other ideas. This map is, as is typically the case with my stuff, freely available for any of you to use, edit, play around with etc. -- no need to ask permission or even credit me. If you have a use for it, go right ahead and have fun. (For your convenience: a blank version of the map is here, and a version with just the rivers is here.)

A little idea I made into a map.

Lore is that Texas retained its independence and forged a deep relationship with the United States. The US and Texas would be steadfast allies, with America assisting Texas in the various Texan conquests of Mexico and Central and South America. Texas would become respected on the world stage after the inexperienced nation unexpectedly smashed the Spanish and seized the Spanish Caribbean colonies.

The American-Texan alliance would persist until the Great War due to Texas joining the Central Powers(Germany-Italy-Texas) instead of the Alliance(US-UK-France). The Central Powers defeated the Alliance soundly, resulting in Texas gaining California, Utah, Nevada, Kansas, and Hawaii from the US and the Bahamas, Guyana, and Yemen from the UK and Congo from France. American revanchism would result in the Texan-American war where the US ceded the Pacific Northwest, Kansas, and Colorado.

In 1938, the Texan-German alliance stands firm - having just won the 2nd Great War, and seeks to maintain peace.
