Man, that was a good thread. Though looking back on some of my work can be embarrassing.
Edit: I can't recall: was Albuquerque solely east of the Rio Grande before the Mexican Cession? I suppose it's possible it was all in Texas territory to start with and the parts of it in Oklahoma and Dinedah are all post-border drawing growth. Are there US cities like that? I thought if your city expands across a border into another state, you had to incorporate as another city or something, unified metro area or not?
Nah, hell on the Wabash is actually a pretty interesting idea for a map. Might add it to my ever-expanding ideas text document.Man, that was a good thread. Though looking back on some of my work can be embarrassing.
Fallout-verse?Jiang Qing’s Speech at an Extraordinary Session of the 12th Politburo Standing Committee On the Dangers of “Religious Reaction” and the Bodian Regime
Our nation continues to face problems, some of them beyond expectation; but as members of the Communist Party, we should have the confidence and ability to solve all of them. This conference’s convocation is hereby resolved to acknowledging, understanding, and solving problems by tracing them back to their origins.
The People’s Republic has many enemies- the Vietnamese to the south, the revisionist Russians to the north, the Japanese and Koreans to our east, but to our west lies a persistent and traditional enemy that bedeviled even the reactionary emperors of old. I am talking, of course, about the Ever-Righteous State- ruled by the religious reactionary Bod regime.
The Ever-Righteous State has, for decades, adopted a policy of total animosity and seeks complete annihilation of the People’s Republic so that they may “eliminate the greatest threat to the teachings of Buddha.” However, its ideology falls flat upon critical examination- the so-proclaimed “Buddhist state” is hypocritical to its very core. The Buddha’s teachings strove to gain enlightenment and leave this mortal world behind for spiritual enlightenment. Bod, however, is the antithesis to Buddhism, promulgating worldly ideals and acting just like the capitalist nations that it also claims to detest just as violently as it does the Communist world. But by far the worst hypocrisy that the Bod has committed is the production of nuclear weapons, which it has shared with its fellow religious reactionary government in Thailand and the Burmese right-authoritarian dictatorship. These weapons are the product of violent and repressive reactionaries, not the so-called enlightened Buddhists they claim to be! Comrades, even though Buddhism has been discredited as a superstitious excuse to neglect the world around us, doesn’t it disgust you to see such a repulsive nation warp Buddhism into a vile instrument meant to preserve their equally vile rule?
So, what can we do to contain this barbaric display of contradictory reaction? I will tell you- the People’s Republic must commit to the annihilation of this comprador regime and bring about the full and permanent liberation and self-determination of the Tibetan people. They must organize a revolutionary vanguard and wage a protracted people’s war, and we in the People’s Republic must not only encourage this but aid them also if they are to win, lest they continue languishing underneath the Bod. These tactics have succeeded outside of China- in Nicaragua, in Vietnam, in Cuba and most recently in India against Indira Gandhi’s social-fascist regime. We cannot be idle- each day that Bod rules means that more Tibetans are dying underneath its reactionary fanaticism- a fact that should have been prevented during my husband’s tenure. My husband did not give up however- only the safety of the People’s Republic in the face of the imperialist-capitalist United States prevented him from destroying this medieval relic. But the United States is crumbling, so we shall do what he could not. As we have helped the Communist Party of India realize its vision, so we must with Bod. Only through unified thinking and unified action can we aid Tibet’s people in self-liberation and establishing another fellow socialist nation.

PoP - Austro Bavaria
Just like my last map, this one is made for another alternate history TL. I won't claim to know anything about it other than the fact that both Austria and Bavaria voted in favour of unification in 2020.

^ Awesome, I love these folktales! Are they based on real life stories?
Fallout-verse?
Would Tibet gonna be a tourist destination?
Not really the right place for this but I attached the closest thing I could think of though. Not sure were I picked it up.Anyone have a basemap of North and Central America which includes the various rivers and such?
Good base map, used it a couple of times. Not really the right place for this but I attached the closest thing I could think of though. Not sure were I picked it up.
The world is reminiscent of Fallout, while the design choice was inspired by the game series.
I would imagine that the historic sites/Himalayas would attract tourists, and would give the Bodian government another source of revenue to fund their weapon programs
You could make your own by using any JPEG map in MS Paint. First trace over the coasts and rivers you want with the pencil tool (in black), then reverse the color, then go to properties and select black and white, then go back to properties and select color, then reverse color again, and presto. You now have any kind of basemap you want.Anyone have a basemap of North and Central America which includes the various rivers and such?
I would like to see more of this universe.I dunno if a country as small, population-wise, as Tibet could afford nuclear missiles. Would make more sense if they were based there by one of its Capitalist allies.
