Aren't Brazzaville and Kinshasa right across the river from each other? I see no reason for there to be no City on the OTL DRC side of the river ITTL. Living in whatever Collectivists named that city or Brazzaville must be very weird. Kinda like Berlin during the Cold War but far worse with how Collectivists ITTL are.
Granted, the river in question is large and yes, there would be a city built where Kinshasa would be in OTL.

That said, it would be akin to a mix between Cold War Berlin and that one fake village North Korea set up to “entice” South Koreans to defect.

I'm not great at design but I've been learning to use inkscape and I'm pretty happy with this. Travel advertisement for the Kingdom of Galicia, which outlives Portucale and unites the Western side of Iberia. Galicia basically goes through the same history as OTL Portugal but they also control the Canary Islands and Olivenza (de facto and de jure). The language is basically Portuguese but its united with the Galician language.

Which do you think is the better illustration of nuclear powers? I have posted the first one before but thought it might have been too much information that makes the map more complicated than is necessary.

EDIT: Still not sure about the name of Alt!Pakistan. Currently going with "Islamic Republic of Hindustan" however. If I stay with that there might be a Slovenia-Slovakia/Austria-Australia situation with India and Hindustan several years down the line ITTL (several years down the line and not already in place because "Hindustan" only recently gained it's independence).

On the shores of the Eastern sea: The Korean SSR.

KoreanSSRFinal.jpg

Translation:
Territory: 59,300 km²
Population: 7,160,000
Territory of the SSR as part of the USSR: 0.3%; population as part of the USSR: 2.6%
Growth of the Industrial production (1913 rate = 1)/of the Agricultural production

In the All-Union division of labor the Korean
SSR is represented by a diversified
economy - mining of zinc, iron and coal,
high seas fishing, lumbering
and wheat. Vladivostok is the headquarters of
of the Pacific Fleet, and the SSR is an important hub of
trade with China, Korea and Japan
It is planned to increase the volume of industrial output during 1976-1980 by 40-47%

This map is supposed to be in the same scenario as my Mongolia and Manchuria map

And Because i'm SURE someone will ask this is supposed to be near Vladivostok and in North eastern Korea, around here

The Korea Soviet Socialist Republic (Koryomal : ко́рё со́пие́ты сахветуи ко́нъхвакук) finds its origins in the Korenizatsiya policies of ethnic affirmation in the 1920s Soviet Union. By the Mid 20s the Eastern Department of the Kommintern petitioned for the creation of an Autonomous Region for local Koreans, who first came looking for land in the late 19th century but had come in increasing numbers following the Japanese Conquest of Korea, so that by 1926 one quarter of Vladivostok's region was Korean. The project, while widely supported by Koreans in the region initially met some resistance by the local russians and ukrainians as there was wide ethnic and class (korean being more rural and more often landless than Russians) tensions between the groups, It was Japan's surprising and quick hegemony over manchuria in 1928 that convinced the kommintern to create an Autonomous SSR hoping it would also help spread communism to Occupied Korea in a similar way to the Moldovan ASSR which had been created a few years before to strenghten Russia's influene on Bessarabia and Romania. The question of the borders of the ASSR were hotly debated, and in the end a compromise was reached where most of the southern regions inhabited by Koreans would be integrated in the ASSR but Vladivostok would stay as an exclave of the RSFSR, the ASSR met success in the early years, with successful mechanisation of the agriculture, welcoming of Koreans refugees from Korea and Yanbian, the development of Cyrillisation of Korean language and standardisation of the north-eastern Koryo-mal Dialect, which was dominant in the ASSR, and the translation of the many socialist texts in Korean to spread communism in Japanese Korea, the latter became a point of tensions between the two countries and led to the Closing of the border between Korea and the USSR.

These tensions would add to other disputes between the USSR and Japan over their respective sphere of influences, which would erupt in the Soviet-Japanese War in 1938. The ASSR would immediately become a battleground as Japanese and Manchurian (Japan's puppet state in north east china) troops crossed the border and quickly overran most of the ASSR and after a few weeks of blockade, the port of Vladivostok, many Koreans took to the hills and waged ferocious guerilla operations until the Soviet army pushed back Japanese forces in 1939 and crossed into Korea where they would initially have wide support, particularly in the poor north east the Soviets had been influencing for over a decade. The Japanese army would fall back on defences lines across korea and fought ferociously, despite being constantly harassed by even more bitter Korean guerillas. supported by Moscow, and now increasingly by Nanking, under occupation by the Revolutionary republic of china which was by late 1939 close to reuniting most of eastern china. This new competing Socialist state, relatively distant from moscow ever since ideological disagreements and moscow's influenced split of the CCP 8 years before damaged their relations., forced the USSR to divert resources to its borders in occupied Manchuria and Mongolia

Following Japan's expulsion from the Asian Mainland in late 1940 and a subsequent armistice all of Korea had been under Soviet occupation, but Korean goodwill had been damaged by the Red Army's neglectful tactics, and the puppet government of the New Korean republic was innefective, unable to adapt to the less industrial south and tailored on proved north eastern korean customs and powerbase, reigniting korea's particularly strong regionalisms. The Revolutionary republic of China, whose relations with the USSR were particularly bad due to the latter's continued occupation of Manchuria and Mongolia succesfuly expended its influence to the south of the country. particularly influential were members of the Red Spear Society, which had been instrumental in Shandong's liberation in the late 1930s, who had crossed the yellow sea and covertly operated there.

Tensions remained high for several years in the early and mid 40s, the Mongolian Civil war between pro-Chinese and Pro-Soviet forces had particularly affected the relations, and China's succesful operations in the second sino-french war made its leadership, the shaky troika of Zhu De, Peng Pai and Gao Gang, ever more confident of its odds against the USSR, taking advantage of Stalin's relunctant involvment in Europe, orderer the take over of Korea, in June 1947 Korean leader Kim Yong-bom was couped by Pro-chinese forces, starting a relatively short civil war. The Red army had been too busy in europe to commit to an all out confrontation with China, and focused on maintaining a defense line in Manchura but was quickly repelled from key locations in Southern Korea and was ordered to retreat north, while that line was relatively secure, a serie of events, notably Stalin's death and a string of Disastrous defeat in Iran forced Moscow to balance its froces and pull back to a more northern line. This line, which stopped just before Hamhung makes the current border between the USSR and Korea

Following this disastrous setback, the USSR found itself in control of less than 1/7 of Korea, too small to justify an independent state, Moscow decided to integrate these new territories into the Korean ASSR, elevating it to the status of SSR, the capital was moved to Chongjin to administrate these new territories better, koreans previously living in Sakhalin were deported to the new SSR and the SSR's government focused on fostering a Hamgyong based Soviet identity, turning the local dialects into the national language. In the past 30 years the industries of the SSR have grown considerably, benefiting from previous Japanese infrastructure, the SSR became a great source of Coal and Iron, as well as one of the main fish producer in the USSR. In 1976 Vladivostok was merged with the SSR

This graphic is an excerpt of a Propaganda School Book printed for use in the RSFSR

Calafornia but its an island.png

The map for the island nation of the Republic of California. The island of California has disconnected from North America about 12 million years ago. It was soon discovered by the Spanish and attempted settlement. However, it wasn't as populated as New Spain. After the Mexican war of independence, California was annexed into Mexico. The Mexican allowed Americans to immigrate to California. Eventually, the Californians revolted against the Mexicans just as texas, soon California was invaded by the US during the Mexican-American War, however, the Californians revolted again and soon gain independence from both Mexico and the US. California would later become a rich nation and even annex Hawaii after the Hawaiian coup de'ta. Meanwhile, the US would expand across the pacific, annexing British Columbia in order to gain more access to the sea. California would participate in WW1, WW2 and the cold war on the Allies. It is now one of the largest economies on earth.

Couldn't figure out where to fit in analogues for Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.

I mean, I'd suggest the американцы to gain like maybe the ontario peninsula/vancouver and southern BC, also what is alaska an analogue to? Also what about like Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi be the Caucasus states?

In one of my previous maps, I had a political map and a smaller microworlda inset nuclear power map. I don't know what you are going for here but that could be very cool.

Florida is Korea?
Would Cuba be Japan then?
Florida is the closest thing I can think of to Moldova, since the Gulf of Mexico would be an analogue to the Black Sea, I didn't really think this out too well.
Cuba would be Turkey.

Canada is meant to be Finland, a neighbor to the North who's relationship with it's southern neighbor isn't the greatest. Alaska would either be in Canada or still be in Russia (which would take America's place as the sole superpower, complete with Manchuria being it's equivalent to California).
Also I updated some of the borders:

Might Alaska be the Kola Peninsula, plus Karelia?

What would be a better way of making a "America as Russia" analogue?
Have the genocide of America's indigenous peoples be less successful, so there's enough of them to form a majority some places and you can draw ethnic republics that don't look totally bogus. Also, have the American Revolution fail or end up producing another autocracy, so that America doesn't have that pesky "centuries-long democratic tradition for at least part of the population" to contend with.

I was thinking something along the lines of "Washington remains President until his death" and that's how you get Tsar-like Presidents. Also something involving America not annexing as much land from Mexico in the Mexican-American War, leading to an earlier Civil War that causes the European Powers to get involved. Russia liberalizes, and becomes a true constitutional monarchy.

Too hires to post in thread, but I'm getting better at QGIS so I've started on a scenario that involves an even more unstable Balkans and some modern power dynamics. This map is Serbia in 2013, but it's borders were established in 1995 following Serb intervention in the Bosnian civil war.
