I never really wrote backstories on these, so I can't give you much details, but I will tell you that the Civilized States are basically democracy's last bastions, along with Alabama and the Rump USA. Those three countries ultimately win the war and unite.

Well to be fair, besides the "Big Three" (Civilized States, United States, Alabama) and territories taken by other countries, much of the remaining former US countries are essentially anarchy.

mediterrenian after the 2 front war of the greaat berber empire vs the roman and frankish kingdom in 780 AD ( heirs of heraclius timeline)

the romans did not gain as much since the new emperor decided to pull out of the conflic after the death of the old emperor in the campaing, but they gained to 2 strategic forts
while the franks created the hispanic march as buffer

the era of the 3 empires continues and a new era of peace and prosperity arrived to europe

From A Loyal City on a Hill:

In one of the most contentious elections in Columbian history, the electorate was split almost perfectly evenly between four political parties, leading to a hung parliament. The Liberal Alliance, led by Andrew Cuomo, won the most seats and was the only party to win more than 200 seats. However, unable to form a government, they were forced to allow the Liberal-Conservatives to lead a coalition government with the Columbian National People's Party. This led to John Kasich becoming prime minister, with Chris Christie becoming deputy prime minister. Labour-Welfare, on the other hand, saw their worst performance in nearly a century, despite garnering nearly 10 million votes. This has, since the election, led to a massive call for voting reform and a switch away from first past the post. Kasich has promised that it will be put to referendum before the next election, but with the expiration date on his government looming, there has not yet been any sign of such a referendum.

Results:
Liberal Alliance (lead by Andrew Cuomo):
12,335,664 votes (27.3%, 208 seats)
Liberal-Conservatives (lead by John Kasich): 9,947,375 votes (21.0%, 175 seats)
Columbian National People's Party (lead by Chris Christie): 10,757,654 votes (23.8%, 156 seats)
Labour-Welfare (lead by Paul Tonko): 9,883,028 votes (21.9%, 29 seats)
Green Party of Columbia (lead by Jill Stein): 712,289 votes (1.6%, 0 seats)
Independents and other parties: 1,946,500 votes (4.3%, 0 seats)

Voter turnout: 65.4%

Warring Libya - Eastern Libyan Theatre (2026)

B8TJLYI.png

Introduction

"Murderers, all of them. They're only brave enough to oppress their people but no longer. The Green Army will take care of them."
- Yusuf Al-Jubari, Anonymous activist who was found hanged under a traffic light hours later.

Peace has reigned across the eastern region since the rise of the cliques. Despite the lack of any cohesive institutions to keep their people in check and the mirage of supposed destiny that most of their leaders have fallen prey into, they nevertheless manage to keep the peace with coercion and subterfuge. Threatening them to death was enough to keep public unrest at bay and paying lip-service to the populace to develop the pretense of benevolence.

Despite this, many hated the cliques around the region for their feudalistic rule and lack of any genuine effort to improve their livelihood. This, in turn, developed a large movement of discontent against them. Despite this, the opposition is deeply unorganized and feeble; prone to contradict themselves with various goals and methods and lacking any cohesiveness to stay together. They’re either dispersed by local thugs or being threatened with chemical weapons hidden inside unknown caches.

But it wasn’t until the rise of the Green Army when they begin to be threatened by public uprisings. Their victory over Al-Marj has taken the Mustafa Clique by surprise as they suffered heavy casualties and losing many heavy guns. In turn, they spread throughout the region; pushing as far as Al-Hidamah and the outskirts of Al-Bayda. But eventually, the momentum begins to wane down and they were pushed by both the Mustafa and Hussain Clique.

The war did not end however as the theatre devolve into a chaotic landscape and motivated them into resorting to the tactics of guerrilla warfare, leaving region Al-Marj and Taknis into a game of cat and mouse within the concrete jungles and ruins.

I was thinking of giving them some of the western Islands where they had forts/bases IOTL but I’m not 100% sure
I suggest a look at these wiki pages regarding the strengths of navies.
Bear in mind you would have to adjust Spain if they are not losing the colonies or the Napoleonic Wars did not take place.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_Russian_Navy
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Navy

Also bear in mind that Russia would have to travel halfway round the globe [a la 1905] or fight Spain in European waters as Vladivostok was not in a position to produce many [if any] ships

And that's where the not sure comes from.

Thanks for all of the advice & info. It's been very helpful.

Democracy Index for 2020 in the ATL concept (I have lots of WorldA maps for different years, some flags and the rough timeline plus 1 or 2 more stuff) I have.

Edit: looks like I forgot Gibraltar. oops.

nuclear powers.png

Same timeline map of nuclear powers. International Concord is basically the UN/LoN. UBSC is the Union of Britannic Syndicalist Commonwealths (Soviet Union, basically). USSA is United Socialist States of America while SFA is the Socialist Federation of America (USSA's even less democratic successor). Nigeria and Kenya got (well, kept) UBSC nukes (while most other former BSCs handed them to UK in exchange for protection ). *Pakistan (I am not sure about using that name but haven't found a better one. Thought about Hindustan but I think that would be too close to India in some languages) might have captured/found some Indian nukes during their civil war/war of independence. France and Brazil were the *Axis in WW2 (so was Spain, Romania and Yugoslavia) while USA was counted as part of the *Axis due to being at war with the UBSC while the latter joined the war against the *Axis. And also because US lost (Japan was also helping UBSC during that war against the US). The Empire in exile would be brown while UBSC would be light blue but because UBSC dissolved and UK got restored, also inheriting most of its assets (well perhaps more accurately from the British Provisional Government, who inherited the majority of the UBSC assets) and because UK-in-exile, Canada, South Africa, Loyalist New Zealand and Loyalist Australia (as opposed to Socialist New Zealand and Australia) shared a nuclear arsenal. Currently UK, Canada, South Africa, (republican) Australia, (republican) New Zealand and Malaysia also share this nuclear arsenal. (Australia and New Zealand are republics after the reunification of loyalist dominions and socialist regimes as a compromise.)

@Gokbay - are these last two maps in the same world as your other recent ones?

Yes mostly. I sort of played map games with myself several times and these two maps, some recent posts in the flag thread (not the future history China one but others), those recent-ish election maps (which I think might be what you mean) is me trying to develop it. So that it becomes something deeper than me just starting with an OTL 1914 map and then editing it year by year up to 2020. I am trying to make it less superficial than that. I have yet to try making any wikiboxes but that is definitely something I wish to do in the future. Maybe if I a) feel confident enough, b) have enough material that is more than slightly different WorldAs and c) find a good name I might make a graphics Timeline.

This is one idea I have thought of for quite a while. More specifically, an alternate Amtrak takes several elements that @TheMann allowed me to borrow. As well as some of my own ideas for an alternate Amtrak that both larger than OTL, and also functions a bit like JR Group in the sense that the operation of various regions is split up in order to make the costs more affordable.

I haven't completed it yet, but I also have been developing a map with my own ideas for a USA TL.

- Hamilton wins his duel with Burr (the POD), and is elected President in 1808.
- During the Hamilton years, the US restores it relationships with the UK, and narrowly avoid the War of 1812 as a result.
- Meanwhile, things go downhill in Latin America as the Spanish Empire cracks down on rebels. Quite ruthlessly so one might add.
- The events of the ACW and the Mexican-American War fuse together in the 1850s. Slaveholders in the South secede and are back by the Spanish. The Union, meanwhile is backed by the UK, and as a result also gains the Baja Peninsula, Cuba, Puero Rico, the Spanish part of Hispanola, Sonora, Chihuahua, and the states south of Texas.
- TTL's Mexico is the rest of OTL's country, plus Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.
- Despite all of the above, the US allows Spain to keep Gran Colombia and the Philippines in hopes that they can one day repair relationships with Spain.

It's still a work in progress. Just thought I'd get detailing the main points over with.
