Crossposting from Oneshot Scenarios 2. I found a crazy old movie called "Wild in the Streets" and decided to show what 1968 thought a bad president looked like.

Basically, Max Frost (24), a youth-supremacist, wins the 1968 Presidential election, puts everyone over 35 in camps to be drugged, and reforms america along centralized, hedonistic lines as the world polarizes into a new cold war between the Youth Revolution and the Old Guard.
The Soviets and increasingly nationalistic Germans hold out, Mao is in in in, the British Royalty are out out out and in exile in Oceania, and USAID is the tool with which America keeps its allies in line. Have fun, kids. It's mandatory.

France, Greece, Turkey, Nicaragua, Haiti, Angola, Kyrgyzstan, Sri Lanka, Sao Tome and Principe, and Equatorial Guinea, all ISOTed to a virgin Earth. 200 years later...

World Powers
1/2. Turkey/France tied, locked in a state of cold war and rivalry.
3. Angola, exerting influence over Africa, considering settling South America now that Africa's getting crowded, which is offending Haiti and France
4. Greece, firmly attached to France's teat.
5. Haiti, doing rather well for itself, despite what you might think. Had a rough patch, but with some bootstrapping and French support, here they are.

Here's a pretty simple map, featuring the results of the 2016 election in each New England town. Red is Republican, blue is Democrat, and white means that no results were reported (no polling places) or the area is uninhabited.

As a frequent visitor to the Downeastern region of Maine I'm sorta' surprised at the amount of blue down there. Must be a lot of Republican defectees who didn't like Trump involved.

In comparison to 2012, there's a lot more red (considering the fact that Republicans went from carrying one county to nine), but in both years the eastern part of the region is redder than the west.

I revisited this old map. The original basemap was made by Mathuen. I edited some of the coasts and whatnot, and added in the Water Tribe continents. The idea, as always, is a more politically complex, 'adult' world for Avatar: The Last Airbender. Normally I would add a key but it should be pretty self-explanatory. The Fire Empire is the strongest military power. Darker shades denote occupation zones in the northwestern earth states, while the lighter shade shows areas of heavy Imperial colonisation. The front has stagnated somewhat in the seige of the city of Phong. Areas with a yellow outline show the lands once settled by the air nations. In the north, there was once a powerful race of airbending warriors (think Buddhist Mongols on flying bison) that conquered a massive region there, attempting to take over the entire world, as Genghis and his descendants once wanted in real life. They were torn apart in civil war, and eventually reclaimed by the authority in Ba Sing Se, becoming an autonomous province on their plataeu. When Sozin II began the war, the authorities in Ba Sing Se acquiesced to his entering their territory to exterminate the airbenders there, which is a note now lost to history (deliberately so).

Ba Sing Se, the capital of the Empire of Yoneng, is led by the Shin Dynasty, but in reality the secretive Dai Li run the show. There is no war in Ba Sing Se, and although they accept refugees from the beseiged northwestern kingdoms, these refugees are confined to the outer ring of the city where they cannot disturb the fragile peace within. The Kingdom of Omashu in the west has formed an alliance with the northern kingdoms, and sends vast armies of troops to the north to fight the Fire Empire. Currently a column of troops is on its way to try and relieve the seige of Phong, but King Bumi II of Omashu is blissfully unaware of the threat to the south; the Chin Empire, once a noble and expansive land, has been making overtures to the Fire Empire for an alliance to try and reclaim some lost prestige.

The great empty area is the Si Wong Desert, which has various names in various languages. The local clans call it Al Farak, the Emptiness, though they make a profit extorting a toll out of any merchants hoping to cross. On the periphery of the desert, small princes have risen and built cohesive states through trade with their neighbours. The dark circle around this area denotes the extent of the desert cultures. In the east are the kingdoms of Kawongo and Rodanda, relatively isolated. Although they have made plans and overtures to the other earth states to send aid and troops, they have been ignored; it seems that even in this world of wonders racism is a true thing, and the western kingdoms don't plan on calling on those dark-skinned savages for help any time soon, despite their goodwill.

The northern continent is home to the last true water nation. Although it consists of a series of practically independent city-states, surrounded by poor farmland, they are united under a high-king, Arnook. Once, the water tribes were a force to be reckoned with, raiding the earth coasts and as far as the Fire Empire before the empire became united and powerful. They were once slavers and pirates, but now they are alone, isolated in their shivering homes, waiting for the day when the Fire Empire finally returns to strike them once again. Their kin in the south have been broken, after all.

This map is on the eve of the discovery of Avatar Aang, trapped in a place known as the Spirit Glacier to the southern water tribes. Katara and Sokka of the Amarog Tribe do not realise it yet, but their hunting trip into the wilderness will result in both their lives changing forever.

That's really nice actually, lovely detail and whatnot. Were it not made by Nickelodeon there really is a breadth of lore and universe to make something akin to Game of Thrones or some other mature fantasy out of the Avatar universe. One question though; why has the Fire Empire not occupied the western lands previously occupied by the Air Nomads? Seems like it would be as easy as planting a flag.

I have to ask, just how many people live in the red areas?

Well, in the show it was not settled. I imagine the high mountains and cold air are not so suited to those accustomed to near tropical climates. Besides which, I imagine a number of the older generation, who have not been indoctrinated into believing the airbenders were warmongers, would see the land as hallowed ground for what they are their ancestors did.

Edit: As for the rest, we are in agreement. In fact it has always been a personal goal of mine to turn Avatar: The Last Airbender into a pentalogy of books.

Water would obviously follow season one, leading up to the Siege in the North. Earth would follow season two, up to the Crossroads of Destiny. Fire would be divided into two books, Part One: Lightning covering up until the Day of Black Sun, and Part Two: Ash covering up to the finale and the arrival of Sozin's Comet.

It would cover not only the epic plot, but political intrigue in the Fire Empire, including a pacifist rebel faction led by an ancestor of Aang's old friend Kuzon, the drama of growing up in war-time, romance, of course, but in a much more, ehm, adult fashion (Sokka/Yue sex scene anyone?), and various different cultures. I've always imagined the earth lands being diverse enough to support a variety of different cultures. The west would be influenced by Southeast Asian cultures, such as the Thai, Vietnamese, Lao, and so on. The north by Chinese and Tibetan cultures, and of course the Mongols. The east by African cultures, and the south a mixture of races akin to the Zanzibar Coast and the mercantile Italian republics (Gaoling and the Beifong Family included). The Fire Empire would be influenced by Japanese, Yuan Dynasty, and Aztec concepts, and the Water Tribes a mixture of Native American and Scandinavian traditions. I even wrote a short story once about a man named Ragnok the Hairy, who left the northern water tribes with a fleet in order to cross the world. He found and established the southern water tribes. Obviously he is ripped off of Ragnar Lothbroek.

I actually wanted to try and add some more levels to Azula's character as well, including her eventual redemption when she sees the writing on the wall rather than her descent into madness, and include a proper romantic subplot for her with an OC. I would have aged the characters up slightly as well. Katara as fifteen, Aang as sixteen, Sokka as eighteen, and Zuko as nineteen. Suki as nineteen as well.

I map I made for DawnofVictory2289, the alternate history project that introduced me to alternate history to begin with. The basic premise is that aliens known as the Scinfaxi invade before World War II, forcing humanity to unite against this alien threat. Most of the work focuses in the future, when humanity has colonized the Orion Arm, but this is a map of Earth during the late 20th century. You can find out more here.

There are a lot of people who moved from Massachusetts in southern blue areas.

About this map specifically I have 3 questions.
1. Does one (or I guess both) of the small nations on the US east coast claim to be THE US?
2. Has Turkey rebuilt the Suez Canal?
3. Did Haiti collapse but later pull its self back together of somehow ride out the chaos?

For this sires as a whole I suggest that you create a new thread ether for this or for all of your maps scattered throughout the last 250~ pages of this map thread. You certainly have made enough maps to be worthy of there own thread. Just off the top of my head you have the US back to 1700 from both sides, British empire to Virgin earth, Canada to virgin earth, ww2 Italy to virgin earth and back again, Germany to virgin earth, and I'm sure more. Plus the upcoming (eventually) 20 maps in this sires.
