A sorta part 1 I guess of a ATL of a ATL.
Specifically from the most recent wolfenstein game Wolfenstein: the new order.
Basically what if the Nazi's hadn't been the only ones to find the Da'at Yichud hyper technology but the Soviets had as well?
Sometime prior to the second great war, somewhere in Siberia, a team of Soviet miners, attempting to excavate, blow open a massive underground chamber discovering a giant and seemingly ancient yet advanced sealed gate of some kind.
shortly afterwards, a team of NKVD agents, soldiers and top Soviet scientists study the gate, and after several failed attempts, blow it open, leading them to a massive vault of advanced technology centuries ahead of anything seen on earth.
Meanwhile in Germany infamous SS member Wilhelm "Deathshead" Strasse finds his own cache of the hypertech.
However, the two totalitarian regimes take vastly different approaches to their discovery. While Strasse must contend and even at times compete with the more spiritual minded paranormal branch headed and supported by SS head Himmler for resources, funding and manpower, the Soviets research teams are given full support by Stalin to both research and study the wonder tech "for the good of the Soviet Union and the advancement of Marxist-Leninist socialism."
In the coming years, the advanced tech allows Stalin's collectivization to achieve far greater leaps and bounds in both industry and agriculture, using the advanced knowledge and technology to not just help springboard the USSR's crash modernization efforts but even advance them in several cases ahead of the Western powers.
while there are still mass deaths and starvation's, and several of the various institutional issues that plagued the USSR still occur, they are far less serious or intense as OTL. As such, much to Stalin's great delight, the USSR's five year plans not only legitimately meet their quota's but even exceed them.
Eventually the first real test to the super Soviet Union occurs when Finland refuses to bow to Stalin's flagrantly provocative demands, leading to the Winter war as OTL. However, unlike our timeline's outcome, this Winter war occurs very differently, the Red army securing crushing victories and gains against the stiff but ultimately far less advanced defenses of Finland. Much like the Baltics before it, Finland is eventually puppetized as a prelude for later annexation before "voluntarily" deciding to join the USSR. Though despite their advanced technology, the Soviet's still occur just enough losses to expose some flaws in their military's planning among other logistical issues.
However, the crushing victory serves as a wake up call to the Nazi leadership, who see the war's result as a sign of what might be a difficult fight ahead and thus change their plans for the eventual operation Barbarossa according.
Deathshead finally gets the attention he craves, and sees a hike in his funding, though must still compete with the paranormal division.
However, with the invasion of the Soviet union right around the corner, he will have ample means to test and ultimately prove his idea's worth.
But of course, so will the USSR...
