Cross-posted from oneshot scenarios...

A map, inspired by an old Future History map challenge, and with some ideas stolen from Nikoznate. (Hey, Niko - Atenist Ancient Egypt is cool and all, but couldn't you do an original map or two? You did some neato ones...)

It's been a tough 21st century. Global warming bit hard, economies collapsed as lessons were ignored in favor of comfortable lies, great powers fell apart and chaos spread to much of the world. But now as the start of the 22nd approaches, the world is (shakily) at peace, people have gotten a handle on the climate changes provoked by global warming and learned to live with them or work around them, and a new prosperity based on weak AI, quantum computing, genetic engineering, and fusion power has spread widely. Four major power blocks dominate the globe, all originating in what was once dismissed as the "Third World", although the nations of Europe remain far from unimportant, and Canada is nobody's hat. New religious movements have emerged, and Russia, although too shrunken in population to be a first-rate power economically or militarily, has drawn the attention of the world with a new spiritual awakening (the Neo-Orthodox clergy are dedicated in their probity: they not only take oaths, but also implant anti-sin control chips in their brains). India currently bestrides the world, but technocratic Mexico, bio-tech fascinated Green Brazil, and the Indonesians and their allies won't let them rest on their laurels. The world moves forward into a new century...

That.... Biopunk South America looks rather familiar. :D (it even has united Bolivia-Peru)

Great map BTW, as always.

How did the Polynesians miss out on a landmass half the size of a small continent?

Seriously, they found Hawaii and the Easter Islands, among so many others. They were master mariners.

EDIT: Gorgeous map by the way. Excellent effort.

Not to mention New Zealand.

It is an excellent map, though.

Oh hey, I remember drawing up those countries. I've always thought the city-states controlled a little too much countryside, however.

I know! You did a great job I was so luck to be able to expand upon your work.

The city states really have nominal control over most of the countryside. That's increased in the game though since the Dothraki spent more time attacking the Slave Cities.

Polynesians are the biggest problem. You need some sort of way to keep them off the island. I'm not sure such a way exists, though I might be willing to handwave it out of interest.

I'll add them in tomorrow, thanks for the feedback, the only reason they wouldn't be there is some sort of disease that the Europeans can cure, no idea? it will be easier to change some place names and add some history.

Yeah. An uninhabited island is highly improbable; a decimation by disease much more plausible.

Meh, I don't think amounts of handwavium matter anymore when you still have WWII occurring in the Cook Island's TL. Great map though, I love the roads and the representation of elevation; I can really see which provinces are large expanses of rugged terrain and which are (at least along roads and rivers) more or less seamless conglomerations of cities. All that's needed is fixing of spelling mistakes, and you're there.

To my knowledge, I am the board's only Cook Islander, so naturally I approve. :p:D

That reminds me of that discussion about leveraging some chief dispute to annex the Cook Islands under ah.com :D

Can someone point out the spelling mistakes i'm afraid i'm dyslexic and cant spot anymore

Flourished not florished; resources not reasources, referred not refered, some capitalisation issues and confusion of commas and full stops too, but overall it's still readable.
