Napoleon V took power in 1992, after his Grandfather died. He signed the Peace of 1993-1996, which essentially ended the Great Napoleonic War for a 3 year period. Most of the leaders, American President Richard Nixon, Soviet Premier Yeltsin/Supreme Marshal Putin, and the British, expected the peace to last. Napoleon V picked up the pieces of his Grandfathers' Empire, which was in decline, far from its Golden Years in the 1960s and 1970s, when people believed the Third French Empire would rule the world.

On December 25th, 1996, Napoleon V surprised the world with a massive offensive deep into the Soviet Union. New offensives opened in Africa and the Middle East, and within a year, a large amount of land became part of the Third French Empire. Napoleon V was at the gates of Moscow by 1997, and captured Leningrad from the Soviets. From 1999-2001, the height of Napoleon V's control, it was believed by billions across the globe that Napoleon had won. Over 400 million were dead since the war's start in 1968, and the Coalition was prepared to surrender. The Battle of Moscow, which had raged for 3 years though, ended in a massive Russian victory in late November of 2001, which became a harsh winter. Like Napoleon I two centuries before, the French were forced into a march back to Europe, defeated, and slowly being picked off by Russian forces.

Oshron, this is ASB. Russian Outer Manchuria? Unified Indonesia under Sultan? British Malaysia? OTL Borders? French Louisiana too Early? Ainu Independant?

Is not really plausible, given that it was a Soveriegn state for a short period.
....this is not only not ASB, this is pretty much what these parts of the world actually looked like in the year 1790. if youre going for shooting down the ATL's map when it doesnt even have anything ATLish on it without any provided backstory, then you really dont want to see what the ATL looks like by the 20th century! :D

besides, the ATL is ASB :p

Outer Manchuria wasn't Russian until 1860.

The Oregon region was disputed by Spain, Russia and Britain until 1846, when it was split between the USA and Britain.

Louisiana was Spanish after 1764 (I think).

Canada didn't even resemble that until the mid 1800s, nor did Alaska.

Indonesia was certainly not unified under a single leader in 1790, it was divided between various local rulers, tribes and the Dutch East India Company.

Malaysia didn't look like that until Sarawak became a British colony in 1946. Before then it was a collection of protectorates.

Korea was a Chinese vassal.

All in all, ASB or not, it is nothing like what the world looked like in 1790.

The Fall of Napoleon V...

By 2006, the Americans and British had pushed the French out of all of Sub-Saharan Africa. Only small pockets of resistance remained. The Soviets in 2005 entered Berlin, liberating the city after months of street to street fighting, as was the fighting in the rest of France into Paris. Napoleon V was swiftly defeated in May of 2006 after the Fall of Paris, retreating to his new capitol of Rome, which would serve to be the new capitol of the French Empire.

On July 7th, 2006, the French did the unthinkable. French terrorists snuck a nuclear device into London, detonating it. Over 50,000 were killed (Which was about the weekly casualty rate during the constant air raids over the last 38 years). The British commander of the Coalition forces was killed, leading to General David Petraeus being placed in command of all Coalition Forces. The French military on the 13th of July captured Napoleon in response to this, and quickly placed him on trial, and executed him the next day.

The death of Napoleon V in 2006 was not the end of the war. The French military was unwilling to surrender to the Coalition. Over 500 million people were dead, and they knew what they would face upon capture. Warlords quickly took over areas of the remaining French lands. Southern France and Italy fell under King Silvio, the client King of Italy, and High Governor of Southern France. King Augustine I, the brother of Napoleon V, took over Spain and North Africa, while Egypt fell under King Hosni's control, who declared himself Pharaoh of the Egyptians. Greece fell under total military control, serving loyalties to none of the claimants to leadership.

The French Civil War would be fought for 5 months. In July, King Silvio surrendered to Augustine, and in August, Pharaoh Hosni was killed, leading to Augustine taking over. The Greeks quickly surrendered to the French, and Indochina swore its loyalty to Augustine. Augustine, on the 19th of September, made his 'Brimstone Speech', in which he swore to fight for every last piece of French soil, no matter the cost. He centered his new Empire in Madrid.

Somewhat related to this earlier map, I'm really just throwing ideas around on a map for (far) future updates to my TL (link in my signature).

The map itself shows the world just prior to the 1925-1934 Tripartite War (also known as The Great War), though arguably the war actually started in 1921 with the Portuguese Revolution or the 1923 Hungarian Invasion of Croatia-Serbia (similar to OTL in that the 1936 Spanish Civil War or the 1937 Second Sino-Japanese War aren't normally included in WWII, though they are intrinsically linked.) The catalyst for the war erupts when the Irish successfully break from Britain away thanks to aid sent from the Commonwealth of North America (shown in communist-stripped confederate colors), which quickly spirals out of control into a war between the International and the Entente. Thanks go a bit crazy early in though when both the United States and Russia (and their associated Allies) take advantage of the situation, attacking both the commies and the Europeans.

Another 1848 Germany map, but in this one Austria and Bohemia remain independent (however the Kaiserreich annexes Tyrol and gains a border with Italy). After the mess that was the 1848 revolutions, northern Italy united into the Kingdom of Italy which then went onto unite with the south and the Papal States by 1860.

Fastforward to the 1870s - the Franco-German War. Unlike OTL's Franco-Prussian War, this war was started explicitly by the Germans. They outright invaded and occupied Alsace-Lorraine, and then Luxemburg, and went on to occupy almost all of Northern France after the French declaration of war.

During the colonial races in Africa and Asia, Italy managed to grab and hold Tunisia. However they stopped at Tripolitania, leaving the provinces of Fezzan, Cyrenaica and Libya to the Ottomans. They did this because the Turks were a British ally, and antagonising the British (in this world at least) is not something the Italian leadership was willing to do.

France, smashed from the Franco-German War, was slow to colonise and missed out on a lot of North Africa. They were also only able to grab a small amount of the Congo, the rest went to the Dutch. The Germans didn't exactly get the lion's share either. They colonised Kamerun and part of the Sudan (the Colony of Tchad), Guinea and Namibia. The most profitable colony in Africa they gained was Madagascar. In the Far East they successfully conquered Indochina.

ITTL, a Chinese revolution against the Qing was met with support from nearly all of Europe's powers. This was because the Qing Dynasty was becoming increasingly isolationist - the Europeans wanted a new dynasty that would be more cooperative. In the aftermath of the war, the new empire handed over massive concessions in the form of spheres of influence, and outright territorial exchanges, to Britain, Germany, Japan and Italy. Japan later capitalised further on this by annexing Manchuria and Korea.

South America underwent some major changes ITTL as well. Colombia practically fell to pieces in a civil war during the 1890s. The USA was quick to mediate a peace, at the same time annexing the Cartagena Territory to secure their position in the Gulf of Mexico. The Spanish-American War was also avoided ITTL, so Spain hung on to (and granted varying levels of autonomy) Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Philippines. They still sold most of their Pacific possessions off however.

The year is 1914, and the powers seem content. Russia just lost another major war to Japan, signifying the latter's power in the region and Russia's apparently weak position in the Far East.

The Great Napoleonic War ended on July 14th, 2009, during the Treaty of Nottingham. After 2006, Emperor Augustine began to prepare for a massive drag in the war, in an attempt to take down as many Coalition troops as possible down with him. In Indochina, the French forces there were defeated following a massive Communist uprising. Korea also faced a massive Communist uprising, as well as China. By early 2008, the entire Asian Front of the war was over. All eyes were on Europe and North Africa.

General Petraeus led a daring offensive to Casablanca, the Command Center of French North Africa Forces. By the Summer of 2008, all of Morocco was under General Petraeus' control. Soviet commanders led a renewed offensive into Spain, where Emperor Augustine deployed new chemical weapons and napalm, not being used in 30 years. On January 1st, 2009, he sent an ultimatum to the Soviets and Coalition Forces. He would agree to surrender on the condition that France keep Italy, Iberia, the Balkans, Greece, and parts of North Africa, and some overseas territory. He would abdicate. If not, he would deploy nuclear weapons to the battlefield in Spain and Italy.

After a Conference in Nottingham between US President Rudy Giuliani and Queen Elizabeth, as well as the Prime Minister, they agreed to accept the terms. The Soviets refused to accept the terms, launching a massive offensive into Northern Italy. The Battle of Rome was the final battle of the war, taking place in May of 2009, with the French surprisingly defeating the Soviets. The war ended two months later during the Treaty of Nottingham. The Republic of France was founded on the 14th of July, and the Empire disbanded. Emperor Augustine mysteriously died a month later, after publishing his Brother's and Grandfather's memoirs.

The end of the War saw the start of many issues in the world. The Chinese Republic was exiled to Taiwan by Communist Revolutionaries. Korea was under the dictatorship of Communists, and Vladimir Putin, the leader of the Soviet Union, was now leading ruthless campaigns to turn Africa under his control. India and Pakistan had now formed, the two on the brink of war.

The final casualties for the war is unknown, but most estimates range it to be 600 million dead to 900 million dead, most agreeing to around 850 million dead.

I think it's a Communist Australia.

Indeed, things got a little crazy in Australia due to a continuing Chartist movement back in Britain and a larger Eureka Rebellion; by the late 1850s the Australian Republic managed to away while the empire was busy focusing elsewhere, and it continued to remain a thorn in Britain's side by backing pro-independence movements throughout the rest of the 19th century. By the 20th though things had taken a very red-tinge in land of the southern cross.

Not the most plausable concept. CSA wins the American Civl War, but Kentucky's neutrality is respected by both USA and the CSA, and it ends up in an odd quasi-independent state. As time goes on policy changes, there is the occasional war between the CSA and USA, and Kentucky is a useful neutral place, if occasionaly occupied by either army.

At the time the map is set (the 1960's) the two powers are at peace, but Kentucky is still raw. the Free State has been reduced by US aggression and annexation, and many Kentuckians have fled their homes to live in the CSA, hoping to one day return. They claim to be a distinct ethic group, something the US denies and the CSA wisely does not comment on. There are more "Kentuckians" living in the CSA then in the Free State, so it should fit the requirements.
