This is a world where the different branches of the Reformation shape the political landscape of the world.

.

Nice and very imaginative! Not quite sure why southern Protestant France is named after Henry’s homeland, though: and where did those Parisian “Galicians” come from? Also, no Hussites in Bohemia, and a Poland with most of the actually Polish territories under foreign rule. And why is Austria a military frontier while the Brittany/Normandy area and the central Italy/Ottoman border are not? Moon Korea?

What I do is take a blank map with all the rivers on it and colours the land and seas white. Then I copy the section of river I want to use and paste it onto my map (with transparency selected for selections) and fill it in black like the rest of the borders. Then I just erase the areas I didn't use.
You could also try drawing the borders and whatnot in a layer above the rivers, though then you have to add in whatever you've not colored over or delete the rivers in the bottom map and flatten.

July- December 1919

-The Allies begin a grueling advance in Europe. The Red Army counter-attacks and digs in but they are slowly being forced east despite Zhukov's best efforts. Newer Soviet tanks and planes are still better one on one that their western counterparts but numbers and technological advancements are quickly taking their toll.

-Stalin of course, is utterly furious. He order every man who can be spared pulled off the Eastern Front and sent west. When Molotov suggests they consider an armistice, he is shouted down merely for mentioning the idea.

-There are minor Russian advances in North Africa, they no longer have any tanks as most armour is being deployed in Germany.

-The People's Republic of Myanmar is created.

-Despite being stripped of needed manpower, the Red Army still has the men it needs to press forward in East Asia. The Battle of Bangkok begins, Saigon is still behind the front lines but not for long.

-The Americans finally withdraw from Japan in February. The civilian leadership of Japan has relocated to Iwo Jima, the military and the Emperor remain behind.

Similar to my previous map, this time with borders and some effects:
How do you make such fantastic maps... D:

Some sort of tutorial for how you make such great graphics (like where to find the terrain graphics) would be greatly appreciated by us AAR'ers, if you ever had the time.

Thanks. Yeah - I could make a tutorial. Basically I use a lot of different layers in Photoshop. As for terrain textures - I`ve ripped them off from Victoria 2.

Is it such a good idea to invade Alaska? That place is full of Alaskans.

I think there's a rule that says that anyone waging war on the USA with access to a Pacific coast has to attempt to invade Alaska even though it makes no sense. Ask the Japanese.

There's really no other alternative short of total sea domination. It's much easier logistic-wise to cross the Bering Strait than the Pacific Ocean to both Hawaii and/or the continental US.

The Soviets are putting the least they can afford into Alaska, meant to suck up US forces from Europe and elsewhere, with no real plans to take Alaska for themselves.
