Speaking of Britain, how come they share Cyprus with some state set up by the toppled Turkish government? Or I probably should just read over the timeline though. Might explain the issue with Madeira.
General response to comments:
Cyprus is a British protectorate split with a Turkish-backed government. Turkey's junta's been overthrown recently so the situation hasn't ironed out yet, and the Turks are still highly nationalistic and so will probably continue to support the Turkish-Cypriot Republic no matter what.
Scotland and Northern Ireland are devolved assemblies; NI's Home Rule parliament never gets dissolved, although STV is reintroduced to placate the Catholics. Scotland's devolution is somewhat similar to OTL but think more along the lines of a successful 1979 referendum; given the map's set in the 70's it's fairly plausible I'd say.
As for Russia and air superiority; that would make more sense than just heavy bombardment so yeah, let's go with German atomic weaponry.
As for Romania, it was shattered pretty badly in the war and was taken over by a military dictatorship which calls itself socialist to get money off Germany; I'd imagine there's a lot of public distaste in Germany akin to US support for various brutal governments during the cold war. Excused because of Russian/Italian/Bulgarian expansionism.
I've only written the TL up to the early 1930s so most of this is just a projection of how things would go. I haven't updated in nearly a year and probably never will do so, so I wouldn't look to the TL for help, other than some developments in Poland and Czechoslovakia. Not saying you shouldn't check it out...
