Map of the Fortnight: Main Discussion Thread

Cartographical Jukebox: Pick a song and make a map that is in some way inspired by that song. It doesn't have to be directly tied to it, but just something that reminds you of the song.
Parallelism: Map out a movement that happened IRL as happening earlier. An earlier Civil Rights movement or an earlier Russian Revolution, for examples.
Biggering: Depict a nation that has suddenly and surprisingly gone expansionist.

I particularly like the first one for its originality, but the other two are very good challenges as well.

We did this one once. MotF 139. Four years ago. Doesn't mean we can't do it again though.

I liked my weather map for the line "Seems the highway patrol has found a jack-knifed rig / In a snow bank in Illinois."

1980s country western music is awesome.

I remember there was a competition where the participants had to present the first state socialist other than Russia. Was there a similar competition where the first "fascist" state other than Italy and Germany was presented?

No idea if this has been done before, but:

It's been a while since I've met someone new: Show a region that, for some reason, be it voluntary or not, has been isolated from the rest of the world for a long time (I would even suggest making it actual "no knowledge of the outside world" isolation, rather than "no frequent trade", but that's up to @Kaiphranos or the mapmaker, if they prefer to leave it open)

This general topic was done some years ago as "The Locked Country," but it's certainly been long enough that we could run it again if people like! I would probably let each contestant decide the nature and degree of isolation, rather than trying to limit it in some way. :)

By the way, about a day left to enter MotF 219 - anyone else working on an entry? We have several already, so I will probably not be extending it this time.
