Map of the Fortnight: Main Discussion Thread

Presume that the map does not have to be exactly from the same universe as our prior map, and that I could adjust the "lore" somewhat?

Ironically ended up starting to write a book in a similar setting to my map I won on, so will probably just start mapping out that.

For the participants, I'd have to say I'd nominate UpvoteAnthology for MotF Icon. You can instantly recognize a UA map by the distinct style, detail, and storytelling in their maps. See their work on their DA profile. They also led the contest for almost two years from 2016-2017.
It's hard to overstate how influential UpvoteAnthology was in the heydays of map and graphics, and the beginning of r/imaginarymap, her style was widely copied and her inkscape tutorial was one of the main reason for the general shift of non-worldA mapmaking to vector graphics. I still have her "People's Socialist Atlas" on my bookshelf

For participants, we will be taking a page out of Time Magazine's book and discuss who the MotF community should bestow the following titles upon: Icon, Pioneer, Titan, Artist, Leader, and Innovator. Each title can only be obtained by one participant, and participants can only hold one title.

I am not sure which title is more fitting but I do believe Krall deserves recognition for running the contest for five years from 2010 to 2015, MotF 10 to MotF 129, making MotF what it is now..

(Honorable mention for Kaiphranos who administrated the contest for nearly as long, taking over from UpvoteAnthology and remaining in the role until March 2022)

I think that's acceptable, as long as it's generally an update or continuation of the map you won with.

I think Krall and Kaiphranos are both worthy of recognition. Krall was the longest serving administrator MotF has ever had (5 years, 10 months, 22 days, for anyone curious) and Kaiphranos pushed MotF past the 10 year mark.

I think Reagent's contributions cannot be understated. With participation spanning well over ten years and a record-breaking 32 wins, this puts Reagent as the winner of over 10% of all MotF rounds.

Yes, Reagent seems like a shoo-in for Titan based on his dominance in competition.

It would be quite a project to go back through all the rounds and find out, but I am kind of curious what "career stats" would look like for various participants. We have the numbers of wins, but what about numbers of entries? Who has been competing for the longest?

Map of the Fortnight Wall of Champions - from the wiki
Small nitpick, Ernak and Ernacius are the same person, and with 3 wins, should get gold level

Also a lot of the maps seem to be down... some because of imgur, but most because of Discord's recent change to offsite picture linking, I largely blame ah.com having a too restrictive picture upload system. But I can try to find back some maps.

I've tried to clean up the contest rounds wiki page, but haven't had time to crunch the numbers for each contest. I'd need some serious help before I could think about tackling that task.

Thanks for clarifying, some folks did have name changes and I've tried to keep up with them as much as I can.

It's a shame so many of our old rounds are missing their images. Not much we can do about it. It's helpful that people like UpvoteAnthology also posted to DA with the MotF round number so we still can see some of the older images that got deleted, but I haven't found an efficient way to archive our history. I've tried the Wayback Machine with mixed results.

Oh definitely! And I'm glad to see the more recent rounds are added to the wiki (though it seems like some rounds are missing from the new table; most notably rounds 34-46 don't seem to be showing up.)
