Will this be leading to a role playing game? I think that's still an open question.
This works differently from other similar games. Claims are only good when backed up with a map. When two people have obviously been preparing a map at the same time, we try to find a compromise.
I'd say you also should get more of the Rockies. And the Columbia River seems like a good dividing line.

Also, I expanded the New West Midlands to compensate for the loss of the Great Lakes.
Good point. Cuba AND Puerto Rico AND Centroamérica AND the Bahamas are probably beyond the ability of Portugal to control.
Likewise to the giant English colony. Expanding inward from *Virginia ought not to mean seizing the entire east coast.
