Burgundy
Portugal
Italy
Greece
Gaelic Empire
Hyderabad

North German Alliance:

North Germany
Padanian Confederacy
Navarre
England

Every world map posted in this threa have forgotten to show Nova Caledonia and Nova Armorica as part of the GE

FWIW, Geise Bay (Quebec) still has strong ties to North Germany. I'm still kicking around a Dominion-type arrangement where the German king (replacing the old mother cities) still has some dignities (but no real power) in the country.

-Islamic Republic of Persia
-Persia
-Tehran
-Persian, Arabic
-Democratic Republic
-President Mufalai Al-Marra
-OTL Iran, eastern Iraq, S.W. Afganistan, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, part of Saudi Arabia

-Kingdom of Bohemia
-Bohemia
-Prague
-German, minority Italian
-Limited Monarchy
-Kaiser William IV
-OTL Czech Rep., N. Austria

-Socialist Republic of Manchuria
-Manchuria
-Lüshunkou (Port Arthur)
-Chinese
-Democratic Socialist
-Chairman Yao Tsai-ching
-OTL Manchuria, Sakhalin
The flag for Manchuria is the current Chinese flag.

I can see Sápmi being a neutral country albeit favouring the North German Alliance. In other words, when it all kicks off Sápmi becomes involved and takes Germany's side of the fence.

What about Jarnasia and Mediccia?

I see the republic of the saints (My former padanian colony in Lucaia) as supporting the Padanians, and so, the North Germans, because they are still closely tied with Padania (Probably only independant for a couple of years)

occidentia is anti portugal and wants to dominate port. speaking states.that might push nieghboring countries into the opposing camp.

Might there also be regional treaties or organizations? I can see some sort of alliance between former Portuguese colonies in and around Lucaia, and possibly some sort of organization between the different Chinese states in order to defend themselves from unwanted influences (although they'd only be allies when attacked by a foreign power, otherwise they probably hate each other).

I'm thinking though that Mississippi would have very close ties with Venice still, and Padania as a result.

Okay, guys, I've absolutely no idea where all these alliances are coming from, many of them don't seem to make sense. So, let's try and find an important point in recent history and work backwards, instead of just saying "X nation is allied with Y nation because I say so."

A World War would be a good starting place, since technology is meant to be at WW1 or interbellum levels it's likely there was one within the last few decades. Any thoughts?

I think that's what everyone is talking about: Post-War alliances, probably the two sides are locked in a sort of Cold War.

I actually think that a world war is most likely in the future. Many nationalities do not have nation-states, many countries still have colonies, and would technology even be fit for a world war a couple decades back?

All nationalities have nation-states, I think you mean ethnicities/ethno-linguistic groups or something. I don't see how this impacts on the likelihood of a world war, though.

Countries still having colonies also doesn't impact on the likelihood of a world war, since Germany, France, Britain and Italy in WW1 all had colonial empires.

And technology would be fit for a world war a few decades back. I'd venture that technology was fit for a world war in the late 1800's of OTL, and technology in this world is somewhat more advanced than technology from the same time in our timeline.

However, the fact that most major powers in Europe still have vast colonial empires does suggest there has been no such world war, as the losing nation(s) would likely lose much/all of their colonial empire.

So, on that hypothesis, what we need to work out is how our various alliances evolved, and what wars have happened in the recent past.

Surely England should be allied to Portugal. They have the world's oldest defence treaty.

There may not be one in this TL. Prior to the start of MC3 the POD was decided to occur sometime in the 1200s. The alliance between England and Portugal was signed in 1373 OTL.
